Benarty View Care Home is situated in a small mining village which provides a real sense of community to create a warm and homely environment for all.

The home is located close to shops, amenities and public transport which helps maintain the independence of residents living at Benarty View. The M90 motorway is a short distance away which connects to Edinburgh - particularly helpful for culture fans.

The staff that are involved in my Mums care are fantastic. I can’t thank them enough for everything they do for her.

I cannot find a single bad word to say about this care home. I visited loads of care homes before choosing one for my papa and I was set out to make sure he had the best there was! As soon as I walked into this home I knew this was the one. All the staff are amazing! There is nothing the staff won’t
do. They are like an extended family.
The care home is like a home from home doesn’t feel clinical or like a hospital. It doesn’t smell like a care home either despite there being a bathroom along every corridor at the door.
This isn’t a care home for my papa this is home with family.

My mother has been in the care of Benarty View for 4 months and during that very unsettling time, all of the staff have been so helpful, going out of their way to help her feel more at home. They have gone above and beyond on many occasions, catering for her. I know when I visit that everyone knows
my mother as they all interact with her. The staff here are amazing and I can’t recommend Benarty highly enough, they have made a very difficult time that much easier for everyone and I can’t thank them enough.

I recently visited my friend at the home having been unable to get down for a few months. The home is under new management. The home has undergone a redecoration programme. It now looks fresh and inviting. It is light and bright and has made a big difference. The staff continue to be friendly and approachable.
When I arrived my friend had just returned from an outing around the coast. The staff offered me refreshments and as always I found that nothing was too much trouble for them.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.251)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.251) out of 10 for Benarty View Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.901 for Benarty View Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (65 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 71 Ratings = 4.901

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.35 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Benarty View Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.75

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
