After difficult weeks in hospital my husband became a resident at the end of August 18. He has not settled well probably because of his dementia and mobility issues. His choice is to spend all his time in his room. He appears to enjoy his food. Staff are kind, caring and keep him looking clean and tidy.

I have visited my service user over the last year and I have been very happy with the home. The staff are friendly, they have interesting activities and my service user never has a complaint. I usually have my grandson with me and we are made welcome.

My father is very happy here. However, the medication provided takes too long to get here and the cream he needs is not what is ordered. It is too small I.e 50g instead of 500g.

I have found all staff to be helpful and polite when organising a place for Mum. Mum's health and wellbeing has improved enormously in the short time she has been a resident. I feel comfortable to talk to staff if I have any concerns or comments.

I find that the home has a homely feel and the residents get to bring most of their stuff from home which makes it welcoming for them and settling. There are plenty of rooms for sitting in and to take family to.
Well supervised and staff you can go to them with any problems and they will sort anything
out.
Matron has a well-run home, and anything she can do, she is there to help in any way.

The home is always clean and fresh. Staff presence and attention to residents and visitors is always apparent. Providing fees are affordable, this would be an attractive residence for anyone unable to remain in their own home.

Gran has settled in really well, staff are great with her and realise her needs and difficulties and are good with communication.

The care staff were efficient and empathetic. I liked how the residents appeared to love a staff member in the main lodge most of the time. They engaged the residents in conversation and games. There was a wide range of activities organised, including days out. There appeared to be a lot of agency staff
towards the end of Mum's time at the home. I have to say I was disappointed with the laundry system. Mum always had other people's clothes were all labelled either with name tapes or permanent markers.


I was disappointed a bible of Mum's was not found yet. It had special significance to us as our brother's death notice (he died a baby) was posted in the front.


Overall, I would certainly recommend Chapel Level to interested parties.

We are looking at ways to improve the laundry service and again I apologise for any inconvenience caused, I can understand that it would be very upsetting to have other people’s clothes in your Mum’s room. Unfortunately, we have been unable to locate the Bible that means so much to you. I know that we can never replace the sentimental value or the hurt caused by the loss of the Bible, however, by way of apology we have posted a lovely new Bible to you and we hope that this will give you some comfort. Despite the fact that our mother was only in Chapel Level Care Home for two weeks before she died, we can recommend the home for the excellent care and attention she received. She received the necessary 24/7 care she required and we were always welcome anytime. Her last days were sensitively monitored
and we were kept up to date with her declining condition. It was a great comfort to us to know she was never alone.

I cannot thank all staff at Chapel Level Care Home enough for the care given to my auntie who resided there for 4 years. Every aspect, from staff to cleanliness and comfort, was exceptional. We were kept well informed during my aunt's final short illness. We were pleased to have found a home near her village so friends could call in to see her. She always looked well cared for and appeared to have made friends on the dementia unit. As a registered nurse myself, I was able to converse nurse
to nurse by telephone as we all live 400 miles away.

Been volunteering at this home for some time now, taking the residents outs and about on day trips. They all thoroughly enjoy their trip on the bus as I do take them out. The care staff are excellent and very helpful when they take the residents out and about in the bus to various trips and visits
to museum and events etc. It is always a pleasure to take the residents out - especially with the backup from the home which ensures the residents get the best days out possible.

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?


“Kind care to me is treating others as you wish to be treated.”


As a Health Care Professional, Susan has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Having worked in the care sector for many years, Susan closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Susan remarked:


“I enjoy being able to share skills and experiences with fellow Colleagues to allow them to deliver the level of care our Residents need, to make the environment a home from home.”


Susan has also achieved much outside of work, with her proudest achievement being the owner of a special Care Home for elderly ladies.


Outside of work, Susan enjoys going on holiday and spending time with good friends.
