My father has been a resident of Eastleigh Care Home since August 2023.
He is looked after so well by every member of staff to the point of being spoilt rotten. Each member of staff take time to chat with him, which I'm sure he appreciates as much as I do. His room is homely, clean and cosy and he
enjoys being in there as well as sitting elsewhere in the dining room, sitting room or conservatory. There is no restriction as to where he is allowed to spend his time. As a daughter, visiting dad is always a pleasure (normally 2-3 times per week) and I am welcomed by all staff no matter what time of the day I appear. He's always clean and tidy and clean shaven. He eats well and enjoys the varied menu he is offered and thinks he is staying in a hotel as the tables are dressed well.
I can't think of a better place for my dad to be at this stage of his life. Eastleigh is very well managed and I appreciate seeing the same staff, which in my opinion means it's also a happy workplace.

Reply from Mandy Thomson, Home Manager at Eastleigh Nursing Home

Thank you for such lovely feedback - I am sure the team will be so pleased when I share this with them. The door is always open for you and your family. It is a privilege to look after your father. Thank you once again.

I live abroad and can only visit my dad occasionally. I am happy to say I have always found him in a cheerful mood, obviously well taken care of. I receive email updates for anything significant (falls, medicines, illness, etc.) and I am happy that he is in good hands in Eastleigh.

My husband has been a patient in Eastleigh Nursing Home for over a year. He has settled in well there. He has a nice room on the ground floor which is good as he has mobility problems. He appears to be happy with the care, food, and the staff. He is always clean and always dressed in his own clothes.
I am very happy with his care and treatment.

The wonderful staff at Eastleigh have been invaluable to our family following Mum's stroke in June 2021, which badly affected her mobility and speech. Whilst Eastleigh does not have the advantage of being purpose-built with a lovely garden, etc, the manager and the team have played a vital role in helping
Mum come to terms with a different kind of future from what she expected. From the start, they recognised that Mum needed more than just physical care, and strove to build strong relationships with her, giving her back a sense of security and mental well-being that had been lost. Words alone can never express the level of gratitude I feel for all at Eastleigh, as they really did help us through our darkest days.

As a result of a Dementia diagnosis and her declining age related health, my mother was a resident at Eastleigh for approx. one year. During her time living at Eastleigh, Mum received excellent care and support from staff and management in relation to every aspect of her care, welfare, and wellbeing.
As a result of the Dementia, Mum could be very clingy, at times somewhat difficult and at times honest to the point of rudeness, but day in day out, staff catered to Mums changing needs, cared for her, kept her active, safe, entertained, well fed, showed her complete respect and made her stay at Eastleigh as enjoyable as it could possibly be. I should also note that as a son coming to terms with Mum's condition, the sense of openness and transparency I found dealing with management and staff at Eastleigh, made my life very easy if that's the right phrase. Another plus point in Mum's care at Eastleigh was the excellent support she received when needed from a local Medical Practice.

My father has been a resident since leaving the hospital in November 2019. I believe he would not be with us today were it not for magnificent care from NHS and Eastleigh staff. Staff at Eastleigh show care and compassion in relating to residents sprinkled with a very welcome helping of sense of humour
and “banter”. I am sure my father finds his residence at Eastleigh stimulating mentally and physically.
My father has recovered much of the weight lost when he was in the hospital, which speaks for itself.

From my own perspective, I have always found Eastleigh staff to be helpful and friendly.

Of the care homes we viewed, a place at Eastleigh became vacant first. Sometimes it is better to be lucky than clever! We have never regretted that piece of good luck!

All staff were very friendly approachable and professional at all times. They looked after my mother well until she passed away; as a family, we were always made to feel very welcome, couldn’t have asked for more.

Our mother was there for a short period of time and in that time made great friends with staff and other residents. The care by the staff was exceptional. The staff always took time to talk and check on her well being and got to understand her needs quickly and always with a smile. We felt that the
staff were an extension of our family and really cared for all of us. They did all of this at a very difficult time with the Coronavirus. Thank you.

My grandma was a resident here. And she absolutely loved every minute. The staff are so kind and helpful and care about their residents. My grandma's funeral was today. And the manager and 2 other carers were there also. I just want to personally thank you from me and the whole family for the work and
time you put in to keep the place lively. Every time we were in it was always jolly and filled with joy and laughter. I definitely highly recommend you go here.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.904)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.904) out of 10 for Eastleigh Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.690 for Eastleigh Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (41 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 58 Ratings = 4.69

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.214 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Eastleigh Nursing Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 7 = 0.714

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
