Both my parents have been residents at Maryfield West Care Home. They have been extremely well looked after by the kind and caring staff there. My mum was admitted from another care home with a very large pressure sore on her sacrum, which the nurses and carers at Maryfield managed to heal completely.
The manager and all the staff are friendly and approachable and take time chat with visiting relatives. The staff have a good rapport with the residents and there are daily activities which residents can take part in. There is generally a nice friendly atmosphere within the home.

Maryfield West is a lovely, friendly nursing home in the West end of Aberdeen.
It is well managed and staffed with a warm, caring and attentive team.

I visit my friend quite regularly and today they were having a coffee morning to raise money for a national cancer charity. Everyone was involved including those that live there and having a brilliant time.
Staff were fantastic with lots of laughs (as usual) and really welcoming. Looking forward to
the next coffee morning.

I have been to visit a friend of mine a few times and on each occasion I am greeted with friendly and helpful staff. The home appears clean and tidy, with laundry and hairdressing services on site. I would not hesitate to recommend this home in the future.

Visited an old friend here. Staff were friendly and our friend seemed genuinely cared for. There was a nice atmosphere unlike another care home that one of my relatives was in.

My grandmother moved to Maryfield West Care Home in June 2019. After having moved from a previous care home we found that Maryfield West was the perfect place for my grandmother. The staff and manager were extremely helpful during the transition and the move.
They are still also very helpful to this
day and do their very best for my grandmother, ensuring that we are also as a family kept up to date about her health and what the care home has to offer. I have never seen my grandmother so happy and we are delighted to have found such a fantastic, friendly, caring and passionate place for her to enjoy her life! My grandmother has also complimented the staff and the management and gets on really well with them. The cleanliness of the care home is of a high standard, and the food and drink is amazing for the residents who live there.

My Mum moved into Maryfield West four weeks ago from Northern Ireland and we have seen a massive improvement in her mobility and cognitive ability which is as a result of the level of care and attention she has received in Maryfield. The manager and all his team are fantastic and very supportive of
both my Mum (resident) and me. They were always available to answer any questions or concerns both before my mum moved in and that has not changed now that she has become a permanent resident. I am a regular visitor (every day) and have seen for myself the excellent quality of care all residents receive and more importantly the staff genuinely care about the residents. I am very relieved that I made the right choice of care home for my mum and am grateful for the care she is receiving. I cannot recommend Maryfield West enough to anyone considering a placement for their loved one!

I have worked at Maryfield as the resident hairdresser for many years. The staff are excellent with the residents and are helpful and approachable. Maryfield has a very home from home feel and is always clean and welcoming. Would recommend Maryfield to any family or friends that would want their loved
ones cared for by caring and supportive staff.

My Mum has been resident at Maryfield West for a few weeks, having had to move from a previous care home. The Manager has been extremely helpful, timely and efficient from our first meeting and in all aspects of the subsequent transfer and the settling in period, taking much of the stress out of the
situation. He is also a visible presence in the home, which is bright, welcoming and has a happy feel. All staff we have had contact with have been friendly, caring and interested. There is always a high level of care staff on duty, and Mum’s appearance is clean, neat and tidy. Her room is nicely decorated and the quality furnishings, along with her own bits and pieces, make it a real home from home. She finds it a stimulating environment, observing others, and enjoying watching and taking part in organised activities. Standards of cleanliness throughout are high. As yet we’ve not visited during mealtimes, but menus look tasty with lots of variety. I am so pleased that Mum is now resident there.

I am extremely satisfied by the way I am looked after by the day shift and night shift staff who are all very polite, cheerful, caring and very helpful in all aspects of my care.
The food is very varied and tasty served at the tables which are well set up for a great dining experience. I am always
served hot drinks in nice teapots and cups and of course nice biscuits or a cake.
Breakfast is a delight and I can order my preference for a hot breakfast or lovely choice of fruit and cereal.
Events and games are on daily, even a bus trip once a week.
The management, nurses and staff are very approachable and helpful.
All aspects of my care is very good with comfortable rooms, a lovely bath or shower available, very well kept gardens to see and sit out.

Our mother has been in this care home for over three years now. From day one we have always felt welcomed. We have felt a little uneasy due to a number of new staff but given a little time more we will be extremely happy again. The care home has 2 very good carers on long-term sickness but the carers
that are there are doing a very good job due to great teamwork. We speak for the day staff, not the night staff.

It’s testament to the team at Maryfield West that our people stay for so long and part of what makes the home feel homely and welcoming. The new additions to our team are completing their inductions so we can ensure they deliver our high standard of care.


At Maryfield West we are a small and charming care home nestled in the prestigious west end of Aberdeen. The building was originally built over a 100 years ago and is constructed of granite with an additional more modern extension. The building is full of the original features including a lovely stained glass entrance and other features including high ceilings and intricate cornicing all giving a very light and spacious feel. We have a lovely open plan lounge and dining area which we use for communal gatherings as well as activities and for residents spending time having a blether.

We had to move my Dad to Maryfield West Nursing Home when his Parkison's disease made it impossible for him to remain at home. It was a stressful time and it was very difficult to place sufficient trust in someone else to care for a vulnerable parent. However, from his first day, my Dad settled in very
well and he could not have been looked after better. His room was comfortable, homely and all of the Maryfield staff treated him with compassion and respect, ensuring he had everything he needed. He very much enjoyed the food and also the frequent, friendly chats and jokes with the staff. He was always treated with the greatest of care and above all as an individual, never as just another elderly resident. Thanks to everyone at Maryfield West for everything that they did to care for my Dad.

My mother has been in Maryfield West for some years now. She has been entirely satisfied with her stay throughout this time. I have found that the staff maintain a friendly relationship with the service users and are aware of the personal likes of each resident. They spend time to get to know the families
or carers and residents' needs are dealt with immediately and accurately. Management are available and approachable and aware of all the details of the day to day working, as well as more personal requirements of residents. The staff are hard working and attend to the needs of residents quickly and in a caring manner. Laundry, hairdressing etc are all available and performed very well.

My Mother has been in Maryfield West for almost two years and she has settled very well.
The staff are very helpful and most of them are jolly and make the residents laugh.
The home is clean and in my opinion well run, the laundry is always done regularly and delivered back to the rooms.
The food,
on the whole, is good, but it must be difficult to cater for everybody's needs.
I always feel welcome when I visit my Mum and any questions I ask are answered to my satisfaction.
We have our good days and bad but overall I think of Maryfield West as my Mum's home.

I have not been in the care home for long but i am already comfortable in my surroundings. The staff care and attention in very good and staff attend any of my calls for their attention in a timely fashion and are most professional and friendly at all times. I was not sure if i was looking forward to
