Care in the unit where my friend resides is good. The carers are kind and friendly and the unit has a good atmosphere. They all appear to work well as a team.

Kind, considerate, quick to pick up on my mother's likes and dislikes.
Care staff were gentle and took time to take Mother to the garden when warm, even downloaded music she said she liked.

My husband moved into Burnside from another home in August 2018 and was settled in quickly with no problems. He always looks very comfortable, clean and pain-free, he is unable to communicate and walk but still manages a smile now and again. I am delighted to see him so settled.

I am very impressed with the care my father is receiving at Burnside. The carers in his unit are extremely professional and always very helpful and friendly. They have helped my dad get back to his sociable self. Any situation that has arisen has been dealt with in the proper manner and I am always
kept up to date. I have already recommended Burnside to a work colleague whose mum now also stays there.

Both my parents had a 2-week respite care following a major illness.
Everything was well communicated between the staff and they were all aware of their individual needs. We were welcomed by management and staff on arrival. Their rooms were arranged for a bedroom and sitting area to allow them care
and privacy. They were very grateful for this. Staff were always attentive and could not do enough to help. They kept a very watchful eye on my dad to recuperate from his illness but allowed him his own space to regain his independence.
Food was excellent and without his time in Burnside, my dad's health would not have been at the much-improved level he was at when he went home. The time gave my mum the help she needs with daily living while my dad recuperated, and gave myself peace of mind knowing they were both being very well looked after and I could always ask staff what I needed to know. I am very grateful to all concerned and would have no hesitation in recommending Burnside.

The staff are fantastic with the residents and visitors. Nothing was ever too much trouble. When my grandmother had to go into a home I had no question that it had to be Burnside. Two of my great grannies were residents for many years. The communication from staff is faultless. I would highly recommend
this home to anyone.

Mum wasn't in Burnside for long. She was very poorly. Staff were excellent. I spent quite a bit of time there and was always made welcome. They always treated mother with dignity and respect. Mum just didn't have long to enjoy the facilities.

The premises are set in a quiet area with good views of the countryside. A large pleasant secure garden area to the rear is provided for use by the residents/visitors. Inside, the building is bright and clean and there always seems to be sufficient staff on duty. Both management and staff are friendly
and helpful and from what I have seen are keen to encourage residents to do as much for themselves as they can.

My father has been at Burnside since May 2017. The accommodation overall is good, although the room could be a bit bigger.


He is well cared for in his day to day needs, laundry, food etc.
He is very well looked after medically with no hesitation to calling for a doctor if necessary,
All the staff

treat my father well and with a lot of respect. They are very good at persuading him to carry out personal care.


He enjoys the trips out in the mini-bus that the care home run.


Overall, I am more than happy with how my dad is being cared for.

Residents seem happy and well looked after most of the time although a bit more regular visits for those unavailable to feed themselves like my Gran would be good. Rooms are a bit dated but given the budget etc it is as expected.


Food, refreshment and entertainment are very good and active attempts

to get my Gran and even my Grandad involved even though he is not a resident but visits every day and gets meals too which is great.

My mum was given a consistent and loving care in her time at Burnside Care Home.
The staff individually and collectively enabled her to make the most of her last year of life by finding out her needs and interests and making sure she could still enjoy them.
We were all made to feel at home there and
that our feelings and wishes were important. I am so glad this particular home was recommended to us.

Staff, especially carers are excellent. They certainly go the extra mile. Cleaners are also excellent and are respectful of belongings, management is also very approachable. I feel as a family, we communicate with the home very well, they are very welcoming. Regarding food - it varies according to my
mother but that is maybe a personal thing or how she is feeling. Access to home - the road is terrible and is not wheelchair friendly, it is getting worse.

I found the care and kindness shown to both my mother and father at a very difficult time in their lives to be excellent. My mother had many nursing needs and everyone went about their duties in such a friendly yet professional way that she felt secure and happy in their care. My father was able to
be with my mother all day due to the excellent way they had arranged the rooms. They had an amazing chair for my mother to use and she was able to go outside into the beautiful garden. The smile on her face was something we will never forget and we will always be grateful to the staff for making this possible. Nothing was ever too much trouble and their dedication was without fault. The staff also could see the needs of my father and supported him throughout the saddest time of his life. It was touching to see the genuine way the staff cared for both my parents and I knew without any doubt they were in safe hands which, as their daughter, was a comforting feeling.

My mum was in Burnside for only a few months having moved there from respite care at another home in the area. She was much happier at Burnside and felt there was more attention to her care than previously experienced. Had one negative experience with one member of staff from a different area of the
home and had concerns over a resident with dementia who would try to enter her room, otherwise very positive. Staff were excellent, particularly with my wife and I during the time my mum passed away. Very caring and helpful at a difficult time.

My mother has been a resident in Burnside since February 2016.
The standard and quality of care she has received has been and is excellent. The entire range of care staff is approachable, understanding and helpful when we have made enquiries or asked for help.
My mother has expressed constant praise
on all the staff and repeats "how good they are". It is reassuring that she is receiving such a high level of supportive care.

Burnside is a lovely friendly home. It very much creates the feeling of 'home'. I fully believe my aunt is cared for by warm, caring and friendly individuals. There always appears to be plenty staff watching over and intermingling with residents. On a personal note whenever we visit we are made very
welcome and can enjoy a cup of coffee/tea with my aunt. I am extremely happy with the care and attention my aunt receives which provides peace of mind to the family.

I have been visiting an elderly lady who is the mother of a friend for the past year and have found the care home to be providing a very good level of all round care. The staff are always friendly and ready to engage with the visitors. They have also been responsive to discussing any issues mentioned
about the resident and have been prompt at following these up.
The facilities appear very good and interaction between staff and residents is a happy one. The home and rooms always appear clean and well decorated.
Over winter the lady in question was poorly but the staff were very attentive and she has recovered well with their nursing.

Marion

Marion Gordon

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 1990

Marion is one of Silverline Care’s longest-serving team members, having joined Burnside Care Home when it first opened in 1990. Marion started as an enrolled nurse then went on to do her diploma in Nursing.


Marion says she is very happy to be part of Silverline, a very caring company with a clear vision.
She added: “Being a home manager is a very tough job at times but one which can be very rewarding. At Silverline Care, we act with integrity towards all of our residents and we are constantly sharing ways to achieve excellence with our other homes in Scotland and Yorkshire.”
