Based in the seaside town on Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire, Mowat Court care home provides high-quality residential, nursing and dementia care on a permanent and short-term basis.

Residents are welcome to enjoy the shared facilities in the home, such as the hair and beauty salon and various lovely lounges. There is also a conservatory that looks out onto the home's beautiful garden where you can admire the colourful flower beds. Each bedroom at Mowat Court is spacious and tastefully furnished with en-suite facilities and a 24-hour nurse call system.

My mum has been in Mowat Court care home for the past four years after having a stroke which also brought on vascular dementia. It was quite a difficult time for us as a family as Mum was ok mentally and physically before this. The staff have been very good with Mum as she had a lot of things to adjust
in her life. They are really patient with her and treat her as part of a big family, Mum thinks the staff all work for her and she has pet names for everyone.
The manager has been excellent with her and our family and, as with the rest of the staff, inform me when and if there is any sort of problem regarding Mum and her needs.

I have never seen my gran so happy recently since she moved to Mowat Court. The staff are outstanding, and she adores them all. So many wonderful activities keep her occupied and her health has improved, but most importantly, her smile has returned. This is a wonderful care home with incredible staff
and a lovely family feel. I am so happy

My dad went to live at Mowat Court in June, we were not able to see his room due to Covid restrictions, the Manager kindly sent us photos of dad’s room beforehand. Everyone is very friendly and caring, there’s a nice feeling about the place.

My husband has been a resident in Mowart Court for nearly 2 years. During this time he has been treated with the utmost care and dignity. The staff have gone over and above care, not only with my husband but other residents are all treated with love and dignity. Any issues are dealt with promptly. Residents
are well fed and nothing is too much trouble.

My father-in-law was admitted to Mowat Court in January 2018 suffering from vascular dementia. Having had minimal experience of care homes, we were unsure as a family what to expect. What we found from his three years there was unwavering care, compassion and friendship. The staff really got to know
him and had a really good understanding of him and they developed an excellent relationship. The team led by the unit manager, are all definitely in the right job. Their communication to us as a family was always above and beyond the necessary. They were also extremely kind to my mother-in-law who was a frequent visitor. During lockdown, they regularly called her and sent her cards and pictures of her husband to reassure her that he was ok. He was always treated with kindness, respect and dignity. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mowat Court - my mother-in-law has already told me that if necessary, she wants to go there!

My husband was admitted for emergency respite care because of a bad case of shingles. His care from nurses and care workers was first class couldn't have been better. He was in respite care for 8 weeks apart from his dementia he is now on the road to recovery.

My mother entered Mowat Court after a second stroke. At first glance, my wife's and I assessment was that the facility itself was rather average in appearance, and indeed, could use some sprucing up. It was obvious that a bit of money needed to be spent on it to counteract the wear and tear that it
has endured.


However, not enough can be said about how utterly fantastic the staff are and the care, concern and friendship they displayed consistently to my mother with her time there. They truly treated her with the utmost of respect and dignity, took the time to get to know her as a person and to communicate personally to my wife and I as well. The manager is first-class and has pulled together a team of dedicated and devoted nurses and carers that ALWAYS went above and beyond the call of duty.


We ended up needing to move mum to a new care home because of distance from family and mum was very sad to leave all the friends she made while at Mowat Court. That in itself speaks volumes.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Throughout my 13 years at Mowat Court, I have worked my up through several roles. I started as a Healthcare Assistant and then progressed to Team Leader. After completing my nursing training, I was given a Unit Manager post, and with the support from my colleagues, I progressed into my current role as Deputy Manager. I joined Care UK because having the opportunity to progress my career here was an exciting prospect.


As Deputy Manager, it’s important to be calm, patient and caring. I’m proud to have built good relationships over the years with residents, their families and my team. My favourite part of the day is when I find time to sit down with residents, have a cup of tea and reminisce.


Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, playing computer games and anything artsy.
