Highview House is situated on the outskirts of the city of Inverness, with panoramic views overlooking the Moray Firth, and beautiful award-winning gardens.

All rooms have en-suite facilities and encourage residents to personalise the bedroom with treasured possessions.

Highview House believes in providing a person-centred approach to the care offered and encourages residents and relatives to lead on the service wanted. The home cares for people who need 24-hour nursing care and people living with dementia, who are supported in the dedicated Memory Lane Community.

The home has a skilled and compassionate group of care staff led by registered nurses, who are offered specific training programmes to meet the residents' needs. Residents have a named nurse and keyworker allocated to offer support on a personal and social basis.

The chef caters to any specialist nutritional needs, using local providers for fresh fruit and veg as well as meat. Dining is an important part of the day, and the home offers a service that gives choice, served by the chef and his hospitality team.

My gran is receiving some of the best care I have ever seen! Staff, facilities, food and care are amazing and Gran's health noticeably improved very quickly as a result of such great care.

I visited an old family friend who has been a resident there for a few years. I took my 95-year-old relative with me as I am considering care for him as he lives with us, 24-hour care is now a consideration. I was pleased to see our family friend so happy there. The staff were so friendly and kind,
a really happy atmosphere, amongst all the staff and the residents. Her own room was lovely. I visited the salon - delightful, my uncle was so impressed with it as he used to be a hairdresser so I would imagine he would hang around there most of the day in one of the lovely chairs nearby. I went around all the lounges and dining room, it was beautiful and clean. The interior decorating furnishings and lighting of a very high standard. I am impressed that there is such good care in Highview, and also impressed by the activities/outings available to residents. I loved the little garden and refreshment area. Happy staff, happy residents, happy vibes came across 100%.

Becoming responsible for a parent with advanced dementia is not easy and for many people, going into a nursing home is their greatest fear. For my mum, we were out of options and after a difficult nine months trying everything, including lovely respite care where she was beyond the facility's capabilities
and suffered an additional brain injury, a four-month stay in hospital, she eventually came into the care of Memory Lane at Barchester Highview House Care Home. The most important aspect of care is finding the correct place and level of care for the person. For my mum, Memory Lane has been perfect. The unit feels calm yet full of life. Memory Lane is an example of what can be achieved and I dread any of the staff members leaving. No nursing home is perfect but whenever I have noticed something that I think my mum would prefer to be done differently, it is acted upon. My mum has blossomed since arriving here and although dementia has changed her, we have come to appreciate every day that she thrives in Memory Lane.

My husband has just spent 2 weeks respite in Highview House Care Home.
He was made to feel very welcome on arrival by all the very friendly members of staff, who had remembered him from a previous visit.
He needs a lot of help in all aspects of his day-to-day care, and this was carried out for him
with kindness and empathy.
He was encouraged to participate in activities, which was reassuring to know, otherwise, his days could have been very long for him.
He was very happy there.

My mother entered into the care of Barchester Highview House Care Home in August 2020, suffering from vascular dementia and epilepsy. Since that time, Mum has thrived. She is happy and well cared for by the team of dedicated staff from all disciplines. Mum is always beautifully presented. It is obvious
that attention has been paid to hygiene requirements, she is always nicely dressed, her hair is done each week and her nails are kept clean and manicured often with a coat of nail varnish applied by the enthusiastic and lovely activities team. They also provide a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities, catering for all tastes and needs. The list of activities provided is enviable and friends and family are encouraged to join in. The catering staff provide a comprehensive and nourishing menu and also an array of irresistible treats. Residents and family are encouraged to proffer ideas and things that they would like to be added to the menu and also to the list of activities.
I am always made welcome.

My experience with the care home has always been great, me and my PAT (Pets As Therapy) dog love going in every week, the staff are so friendly and helpful. The activities team are great, they work very hard and well, they always make me feel comfortable and welcome, they all do a great job. Memory
Lane care team work really well too, this is the department we do, we love it, the staff work so hard, the residents always look happy and they have a good range of activities to do. My husband is part of the activities team, he helps me which is good, he is great with the residents, he always makes them smile. It's a joy to work with such a hard-working team. Such a lovely and clean home. Very happy with my visits with my wee dog.

My mother sadly passed away on the 22nd of August. My brother and I kept a 72 hour vigil at my mother's bedside. During this time the staff and Head of Unit (Memory Lane) went above and beyond with their care and attention, not only of our mum but also of my brother and I. They made sure we had at least
one meal a day and brought many cups of tea and sandwiches throughout the day which was so thoughtful as neither of us wanted to leave. When Mum was due to leave the home with the undertakers a large number of staff came to pay their respects which is something I will never forget. Thank you Barchester Highview House Care Home. You all made a very sad difficult time very special with all your care.

My mum has been a resident within Highview (memory lane) for 19 months. The care she receives on a daily basis is second to none. Prior to my mum going into the home it was very difficult to ensure that she received the correct nutrition. My mum has not only put on weight but now really looks forward
to her meals, this had previously been a significant challenge for both my father and I. This is solely due to the staff within memory lane’s flexibility around meals and times and their care and rigour in ensuring each resident's personal needs are met. They really do embody a person-centred approach. There are always activities going on and music therapy is one such activity that my mother particularly enjoys. The whole team ensures that family members are able to have good memories of their loved ones, despite this being difficult to achieve when a loved one is in care. Thank you memory lane for all you do!

An excellent care home run by exceptional staff. I was worried about my husband being away from his home and family, but I soon realised that he is home with an extended family as that is how he is treated. All the staff, whether they are medical,carer or housekeeping, are so caring and friendly. During
a difficult time with my husband's illness the staff were there for myself and our children, nothing was too much bother and they were at our side 24/7.
The staff show the same love and care and respect to the residents that they do to their families. I highly recommend Highview to anyone looking for the best of care for their loved one.

I have to be honest I was very apprehensive about Mum going into a home, but I couldn't have been any more wrong the team here are an unbelievable asset and work hard to make sure my mum's daily needs are met. The care she receives is second to none.
The activities they do with the residents also need
to be mentioned they go above and beyond here again to make sure the residents are well entertained can't thank you all enough. It takes so much pressure and worry away from us and the other families.

The care and attention given to my husband on his birthday were second to none, flowers, card and we appreciated this. Two members of staff, in particular, gave to the extreme beyond any carer would do and made my husband feel like family. You should be so grateful to all the staff on the ground floor,

My father has been in Highview House Care Home for ten months and I cannot praise the staff highly enough. Dad gets the very best attention and care (one particular member of staff). In particular, the levels of engagement and activities provided by the staff are noteworthy. We visit regularly and special
efforts are made to look after us and provide space and catering when we are with Dad. Dad has settled so well and a large part of that is down to the quality of attentiveness of your staff team. Thank you so much.

Since the initial period when staff were getting to know Mum, and she was settling into the home, I have been very pleased with the standard of care and nursing Mum has received. The staff are all very attentive and friendly and are readily available to discuss the care and nursing with me. All staff
appear to be aware of Mum's needs and treat her with respect and dignity. Mum is very settled and content in the home and always speaks very highly of the staff. Although Mum does not leave her room, she is happy that members of staff pop into her room regularly to ensure that she is alright. Mum is always clean, neatly dressed and groomed. She sleeps well and likes her room. I have no complaints regarding the home whatsoever.

I am very pleased with the care and treatment my dad has received since being admitted to Highview from the hospital. He is very happy there and has settled in well. The staff are all lovely and attentive to my father, and make sure his needs are met. We are so happy that he is local to us as it means

Job Title: General Manager

Hi, my name is Elsbeth, and I am the General Manager here at Highview House.


I qualified as a nurse in 1993 and have always worked within the private sector, living and working in Newcastle upon Tyne. I worked for a local, family-run nursing care company before Barchester, making my way through their career ladder during my time there.


In 2013 my family and I made a quality-of-life decision to move away from life in the city to Inverness, where I have worked within the locality as a care home manager ever since.


I enjoy making a positive difference in people’s lives. My appointment at Highview will bring me into contact with a new group of people and I hope that I can touch their lives in a productive and meaningful way.


My greatest achievement to date has to be being nationally acknowledged as the 'Nurse of the Year' in 2015 for the excellent environment and care given to people living with dementia in my care home. I still find it very difficult to believe that a care home manager from Inverness was recognised for just doing her job.

Hello, my name is Aiden Wylie, and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Highview House. My job is to ensure a mentally and physically challenging and varied calendar of activities. I want to involve all our residents in a warm and welcoming environment.


My career has been in education, but in 2022 I came to Highview with the ambition of offering a range of activities, trips and entertainment which lead to lasting memories and experiences.

Hello, I’m Sharon Laird. I have now worked with the Barchester Healthcare group in the Activities Department since July 2022, having previously been in the NHS for 40 years. I worked as a nurse and then a midwife before retiring from the health service. Now I have gone full circle from early life to retirement!


I thoroughly enjoy all the fun and entertainment that comes with the job.

Job Title: Head Chef

Hi, my name is Stuart Sturgeon and it’s my honour to be head chef at Highview House. My career has been cooking in busy hotels and restaurants in the hospitality sector where I was responsible for creating challenging and creative menus.


Here at Highview, I need to learn every resident’s likes and dislikes, as well as their individual nutritional needs. I have the responsibility of creating their menu. It’s their home, and my team and I take pride in creating menus that we know they’ll enjoy.


I’m also responsible for assisting the Activities Team on theme days, parties and one-off events.
