November 2021 has been a challenging month for my mother as the staff, myself and my brother have tried very hard to address the loss in weight that she experienced in the previous two months in line with a decline in her illness. I have just been informed by her nurse that my mother’s weight is on
the up again and this is entirely due to the patience and care of the staff and the enticing food choices from the kitchen. I feared this would not have been possible as a referral to an NHS dietician seems merely a pipe dream currently. We achieved this through coaxing and kindness. We are so grateful, once again, to all of the dedicated team at Kingsmills Care Home.

My father recently celebrated his birthday in the care home. The manager and her staff decorated a room with banners and supplied afternoon tea so that I, along with my children and grandchildren could spend this special time with my father. It was a lovely surprise for him and a chance for him to meet
his great-grandchild for the first time. I can’t praise the home highly enough for all the care and attention they give my father.

I know my husband is being well cared for, far better than I could manage. I have confidence in the capabilities of the staff whom I feel are very kind and friendly as well as professional, which in turn helps me not to worry too much especially at a time we cannot visit. Keep up the good work. With
regard to my rating for food, to be fair I can't really give an honest review as I've not been in a position to monitor the food during the past year and since new ownership.

It is difficult to give a full review of my experience as the past year has not been like any other year. I felt the home did their best in difficult circumstances, outside visits and visits with masks etc are very difficult for my friend as he no longer knows me or has seen my face for a year.

My mother has been a resident at Kingsmills for some years now. She is very well cared for there. Most importantly she is treated with kindness and respect. The staff there are the strength of the place and work as a team to ensure that residents are well cared for.

I am completely satisfied with my husband’s care. Although I can only see him through glass or Facebook photos he always looks clean and tidy. The staff are extremely caring and keep me up to date with his well-being.

My mother-in-law appears content and happy in Kingsmills Care Home. She has lived for many years. Staff are excellent and will go that extra mile to ensure the clients are being looked after. The home has done an excellent job of keeping clients and staff safe during this pandemic and, although it is
difficult that we cannot visit, I know she is well looked after.

Staff are very friendly and there’s always someone about to speak about my aunt. Even before the virus, she would not let me stay for more than a few minutes and always tell me to go! She seems very content in herself and if there were any concern I would receive a phone call.

My mother received Palliative Care at Kingsmills from July 2019 until December 2019. The end of life care that she received was excellent. She was treated with dignity and kindness which was a great comfort to her family. They kept us informed of her condition and treatment at all times. The staff at
all levels from management to domestic showed compassion at all times.

My mother has been a resident since April 2014 and receives an excellent level of care from the staff. We always know she is well looked after and have no concerns about her wellbeing. She has had a few health issues recently, and everybody has been so caring towards us her family and to my mother.

I have always found Kingsmills care home a welcoming and friendly place to come to and it is always clean and tidy. Staff go out of their way to help all the residents and their visitors. My friend is unable to do anything for themself and relies greatly on the nurses and carers for all their daily
needs.

I have always felt comfortable and made to feel welcome on entering the home. Afternoon tea with home baking and fruit is a nice touch and the residents enjoy it.
The activities organised for the residents are popular. My husband participates very well. It's good to see the activities and outings are
varied. The carers work well under difficult circumstances.

Each time I visit my friend I find her happy and cheerful. The staff are always welcoming and helpful and there is a very pleasant atmosphere in the home. Have just attended my friends 104th birthday party. The home provided an excellent meal for eight in a very pleasant room which was decorated with
bunting and birthday wishes. Also a beautiful cake.
I am so pleased that my dog is welcome as my friend loves animals.

Yesterday my friend celebrated her 104th birthday in the Kingsmills Care Home, Inverness. Some of her friends gathered to partake of a celebratory lunch which was well prepared and presented. The organisational skills of the Care Manager and her staff deserve the highest praise. No stone was left
unturned in the presentation of the decoration of the venue which helped to make a bright, airy and happy atmosphere for all present. The food was excellent and served promptly and I was impressed with how the Care Manager facilitated a young piper and a Cellist to provide music which was much appreciated by my friend and her guests.
It was wonderful to see how my friend, after almost 2 years of residence in the Home continues to enjoy living with such supportive staff.

Very, very impressed with the care, concern and compassion given to my friend on her 104th birthday event today in the care home, Inverness. The celebratory luncheon was well presented, the food excellent. Consideration given to the visitors matched the care to the resident.
I felt that her own room
was clean and bright and pleasant for my friend to live in. In fact, she is happy there and adores many of the staff. The main dining room was adequate for the guests, cello player (with the young piper outdoors) and I would recommend the staff especially for congratulations! Well done, all around.

Having visited Kingsmills care home on several occasions, I thought it would be only the correct thing to write a brief review, something I do not regularly do.
First impressions are exactly that. On each occasion, I've always been greeted with a friendly face, and just as importantly a smile!
The
home itself, always looking spotlessly clean but also has that "homely" feel which, sadly seems missing in most caring establishments in modern times. Many have too much of a clinical feel to them. But not Kingsmills, Inverness. Beautifully furnished and decorated.
I've visited many such homes in the past and understand that staff are under pressure and time is a valuable resource to all but it never seems too much trouble when I'm visiting my friend, always someone on hand to answer any questions and concerns I might have.
I would definitely recommend anyone considering a residential care setting for either themselves, a friend or a family member.

I am very grateful for all the care my husband receives while staff show him much respect and all care given to him.
He is encouraged to still use the skills that he still has which is a great comfort to me.
All staff also show much comfort to me as emotionally it was very hard for me to make this
decision for nursing care.
The home is clean and everybody is cheery as they all work together and provide excellent standards of care.

What wonderful comments to read about our home. At Kingsmills, our team are dedicated to providing the best possible care for our residents, and of course this also means giving excellent support for families as we understand what a difficult decision it is choosing a care home for a loved one. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, the Home Manager and team will be touched to read your kind words.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.407)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.407) out of 10 for Kingsmills Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.757 for Kingsmills Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (78 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 103 Ratings = 4.757

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.65 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kingsmills Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.75

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
