Very welcoming, lovely staff and well run. My son has been a resident there for 7 years and he is very happy and content, which in turn takes a weight off my mind i.e. knowing that he is safe and well cared for. As his mother, I too benefit from the kindness and help from manager and staff, as nothing
is ever too much trouble and management is very approachable.

Kinmylies is a good care home, it looks after the residents very well and is not frightened of getting involved with any problems that arise. The food and cleanliness are first class. The care home organises trips to events that the residents enjoy and other activities such as bike rides and walking,
they try to keep the residents occupied.

We are delighted with the wonderful care and attention given to our daughter. We have no reason to complain, on the contrary, to praise the staff for their dedication and empathy given to our daughter. The meals are to the highest standard and are beautifully presented. The staff and management do a
lot of activities with the residents which is both stimulating and fun for them.
If I need any advice from the team they give it to me straight away to which I am very grateful.
Overall, it is a very well run home and I will highly recommend it to everyone. Kinmylies is the best.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (8.965)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (8.965) out of 10 for Kinmylies Lodge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.882 for Kinmylies Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (30 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 34 Ratings = 4.882

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.083 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kinmylies Lodge Care Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 18 registered maximum number of service users is 3.6. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 3.6 = 0.833

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Care Home Manager

We are dedicated to ensuring the physical and mental well-being of our residents at Kinmylies Lodge. We ensure that care plans are tailored for each resident to give them the full support they need.

I qualified as a general nurse in 1993 and then developed a passion for mental health nursing, qualifying in this area in 2000. The majority of my nursing experience has been spent at Kinmylies Lodge and I have managed the home for over 6 years.

It is wonderful to see people in our care develop skills, and regain confidence and self-esteem as they move through the recovery process. The ability to be with someone from an acute setting all the way to their own accommodation is hugely rewarding.

Our home is designed to let in lots of natural light, which creates a bright and nurturing environment for our residents and the enclosed garden adds to this feeling of tranquillity and provides a fantastic space for relaxation.

Our holistic approach to care ensures that every day is filled with engaging activities. We offer a busy programme and our residents can partake in activities like our pamper groups, walking, cycling and mindful meditation. Our life skills kitchen, a new addition to the home, is a bright space where we encourage residents to learn important domestic skills to improve their independence.
