Overall, the care, support and communication from management and throughout all staff members is of the highest standard.
It is very apparent that the care of residents is person-focused.
It appears that at all times nothing is too much trouble for staff to assist with.
All staff are to be highly
commended for their care of the residents.

I am very happy with the care my mother-in-law receives at Pittendreich, and generally, the staff are attentive, cheerful and willing to go the extra mile to make life in the care home as comfortable as possible. Any concerns that I/we have raised have been listened to and actioned to our satisfaction.
Great friendships have been made between my mother-in-law, carers and other residents. In fact, the staff encourage socialisation among residents, which has resulted in close bonds between some and this, as well as providing some activity sessions, helps to improve the well-being of the residents.
Management, catering, cleaning, laundry staff and carers work well together to provide a homely atmosphere in beautiful surroundings.

The girls who look after my mum are brilliant. They take time to make sure she is OK. I've been in a few times and I am always made welcome and my mum is always dressed nicely and looks clean and happy.

I have been very impressed and thankful for the care given to my wife. The staff go above and beyond to help all the residents and treat them as if they were a member of their own family. Food is excellent and there are plenty of activities to keep the residents busy and also beautiful gardens and grounds
for everyone to sit. I miss my wife so much but can take comfort in knowing she is being well cared for.

Located in a tranquil, landscaped setting with beautiful views, Pittendreich provides a welcoming, homely, secure and peaceful environment.
The staff are cheerful, caring and attentive whilst encouraging residents to remain as independent as possible. Thanks to the excellent food, mum has flourished.
Her room has been freshly decorated with a TV. She likes the smaller TV room, has made friends and enjoys activities and outings.
There is also the option of the lift for days that she feels tried.

The new manager, since they started at Pittendreich Care Centre, has made a difference already with the improvements to the home. Mum's carpet looks smashing. I have found all the care staff helpful and will do anything that is asked. My mother is very happy and I know she will only get better.

An old building with lots of steps. Although there is disabled access it is not ideal. They really need more space for relatives to sit inside and out. There are beautiful grounds which could be utilised more. Care is very dependent on which staff are on. There are some excellent staff, some are not
so good. The atmosphere is much better with the new manager and much cleaner. My mum is well cared for but is able to tell us if she is unhappy. Other residents are not so fortunate.

Staff are very friendly. I feel I can go to them if I have any problems. My mum is well looked after, kept clean and her clothes are changed every day. She is fed well and is always getting drinks and snacks between meals. The care home is kept really clean and I would recommend the care home to anyone.
They have activities and they have someone coming in every month for entertainment.

The staff are approachable to everyone. Nothing is a problem I don’t feel like a bother. Meals are lovely with choice, they always accommodate my father-in-law as he is fussy they take time and ask him what food he would like to eat. As a family member, we can go and make a cuppa etc. I feel so at
home with them all and feel like they are all family and feel they are there for us when feeling tearful I can’t thank them enough.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.143)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.143) out of 10 for Pittendreich Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.717 for Pittendreich Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (43 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.717

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.426 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Pittendreich Care Centre is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 5.4 = 0.926

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
