Etive House Care Home is a purpose-built care home that provides a superior standard of accommodation. The home is designed to promote small group living providing accommodation for 62 residents.

Although equipped with every modern comfort, Etive House nevertheless retains an air of unhurried tranquillity, a welcoming atmosphere and a sense of family that ensure residents feel relaxed and at home.

To make guests truly at ease requires dedicated staff. The home has such a team of staff who have an intuitive understanding of Etive House Care Home’s tradition of care, hospitality and service and residents are entrusted to them, certain that they practice these old-fashioned values in relaxing comfort.

Whilst staying at the home, residents will enjoy charming surroundings and from the moment residents walk through the door of Etive House Care Home they will find a very warm welcome.

My mother in law had a significant birthday recently and the staff at Etive House went above and beyond any expectations we had of the celebration they offered to host. It was a joyous occasion and the staff couldn't do enough for my mother in law, family and friends before, during and after the celebrations.
The staff are always so kind, caring, thoughtful and respectful, and all work to the highest standard; the weekend of the birthday celebrations all staff members were exceptionally kind and gave so much more than expected. The staff all seem to have a sense of humour which is great to see.

Etive House Care Home is a very comfortable and welcoming place for my father who has dementia. The staff care for him very well. There have been issues with his clothing and they have done their best to resolve this.

It always warms my heart to see all the care and diversity, interesting activities, afforded to the residents...The resident's joy is infectious, and it is so obvious that they are living in a safe, and caring environment.

Etive House Care Home takes excellent care of my father. He is treated with dignity and respect. The staff always have time for him and I didn't feel rushed when talking with Senior Care Assistance about dad's recent fall. I was contacted asap after this incident. My father seems happy, content and
making the best of being in a care home. The staff continually trying to get him out of his room.

From my first encounter with management and care staff whilst viewing Etive House I was very impressed with the professional approach of all these staff and their caring attitude. Since my mother has moved into the home my estimation of the team has only increased further. There is an energy about the
home. It is bright and clean and all the staff are warm, friendly and very caring. There are always lots of staff around and they are very approachable. I feel very secure knowing my mum is safe and being very well looked after.

My friend has been a resident at Etive House Care Home for a year now. I have been relieved since she entered your care as she was no longer fit to be staying by herself. She is extremely thin but I do believe she is well fed and well looked after. The staff are friendly and caring.

Having not long had another enjoyable visit with my elderly Aunt at Etive House I felt I had to take time to commend this home on all they do. From the minute you arrive, you are made to feel welcome, the place is spotless and fresh and you always are greeted with a smile and a tray of tea. Just as
if I was visiting my Aunt in her own home! My Aunty has the most beautiful room and seems to know all the staff by name and has the most amazing social life from the sounds of it. She had recently been entertained by some lovely musicians playing Scottish music. She said she often is up dancing and doing keep fit too! I’d like to thank all the staff at Etive House for their first-class care of my Aunt. It’s not easy for us to visit as often as we would like but we really are grateful that she is in such a super place it puts our mind at rest she is being so well cared for.

We are happy with my dad's care in the home. They are excellent at keeping us up to date with his health and well-being. Dad is usually happy when we visit and is always having banter with the staff. There are three ladies who are a part of the staff in the home and nothing is too much trouble for them.

Thank you to all the staff for your care for my mother during the last year of her life, when she moved to Etive House. Despite our worries about how she would cope with the move, Mum felt at home with you almost from the start, and I'm sure this is due to the warm, friendly atmosphere. You took the
time to get to really know what made her tick, going out of your way to find activities that she would enjoy. It was a pleasure to see how contented she was and to be taken to meet the friends she'd made. I enjoyed visiting: it felt like a home from home. You kept us informed about all aspects of Mum's care, and it was reassuring to know what a great team of people we had looking after her. You cared for us, her family, just as well as you did Mum, particularly in her final days. We are so pleased that Mum was able to live at Etive House, and would highly recommend the home.

This care home is always welcoming. The staff are most pleasant and go out of their way to ensure residents are well cared for. Very happy with the level of care provided to one of my parents since admission to Etive House in June 2023.
The staff are all very welcoming, helpful and friendly.
I am kept very well informed and up to date with all issues affecting my father's care. My father seems to have settled in well and is
very happy at Etive House and has never complained about any aspect of his care.
I am very impressed with the food provided to residents.

Sadly my mother passed away the other day, sad though in all honesty, a blessing in disguise, as she was not well.
I'd just like to put on record how well she was cared for at Etive House and especially mention three members of staff in particular.

On behalf of myself and my family, I wish to thank Etive Care Home for the wonderful care our mother received during her time living in as part of the Etive family.
Our mother felt safe, cared for and content at Etive. She kept her dignity and her privacy, two things that were very important to her.
The caregivers and the team of medical nurses who looked after our mother were just amazing. The care and attention she received was over and above anything we could have hoped for. The food was always beautifully presented and delicious.
All in all, we are so fortunate that our mother got to spend this time at Etive and would commend this Care Home to anyone.

I am sorry to post this review. My mum is nearly 95 and has found her way here. I live 500 miles away, but try to telephone most days. I have visited mum and met the staff. The home appears clean and the staff friendly.


My complaint is the refusal by a senior staff member to tell me how my mum is.

How callous can you get?

Georgina Taylor

Meet Our Manager!


Georgina has always been passionate about providing exceptional standards of care and started her career in Edinburgh as a Care Assistant, before qualifying as a Registered Nurse.


Having taken up the post over four years ago, Georgina finds her role as Manager at Etive House very rewarding – particularly seeing first-hand the impact of the positive changes her team make to the lives of residents within the home every day.


Working with the team at Etive House, Georgina has been able to revitalise the home and improve its Care Inspectorate grades whilst striving to change the culture to become even more inclusive and friendly


Georgina says:


“I feel a huge sense of warmth and accomplishment knowing that my actions and that of my team have such a positive outcome for the people in our care. I enjoy seeing my team develop and the benefits this brings to our residents and their families.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Mhairi began working in care in 1989 and was a day centre coordinator for Age Concern in Northern Ireland. When Mhairi moved back to Scotland in 2009, she began working at Etive House. Having initially applied for a post as a Senior Carer, she was encouraged to apply for the role of Unit Manager, and eventually, when the opportunity arose for a position within the home as Deputy Manager, Mhairi tentatively applied and was delighted to be the successful candidate. Mhairi has loved seeing how the home has progressed over the years and being an integral part of it. She also enjoys working closely with the residents and the care team, spending time with them, and having the opportunity to take on new ideas and suggestions to make the home the best it can possibly be for its staff and residents.

Morag Manson

Morag has been with the service for around 15 years as a Senior Care Assistant. Morag brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the senior staff team. Morag delivers the highest care and always goes above and beyond for the home and the residents. Morag is a huge support to her colleagues and remains passionate about delivering person-centred care.

Arfon has worked at Etive House since March 2015 starting as a Care Assistant before applying to become a Senior Carer. Since then, Arfon has also developed a passion for training development and gained his moving and handling training certificate enabling him to support others within the team as the home’s Training and Development Coordinator. Arfon absolutely loves his job at Etive House as the residents and staff team feel like one big family and the team are focused on caring for residents to a high standard, going above and beyond to make sure they live happy lives.
