Etive House Care Home is a purpose-built care home that provides a superior standard of accommodation. The home is designed to promote small group living providing accommodation for 62 residents.

Although equipped with every modern comfort, Etive House nevertheless retains an air of unhurried tranquillity, a welcoming atmosphere and a sense of family that ensure residents feel relaxed and at home.

To make guests truly at ease requires dedicated staff. The home has such a team of staff who have an intuitive understanding of Etive House Care Home’s tradition of care, hospitality and service and residents are entrusted to them, certain that they practice these old-fashioned values in relaxing comfort.

Whilst staying at the home, residents will enjoy charming surroundings and from the moment residents walk through the door of Etive House Care Home they will find a very warm welcome.

The aim is to welcome everybody into the home, both family and friends. Etive House will try and make the transition into the home as welcoming as possible and hope that residents find it an enjoyable and happy place to stay.

Difficult to put into words the difference it makes speaking to people that you know really care for someone. At this very challenging time for all, my father joined the family at Etive House. From day one the communication by everyone at Etive House ensures you're kept aware of your loved one's health
and well-being. This gives you great confidence that they're in the best caring hands you could possibly wish for, very much appreciated during this transitional period of my father's life. I just know when speaking to him that those involved do their utmost to deliver the highest quality of care possible. What more could anyone ask for?
Things happen to all of us in our lives that prompt us to revisit views and opinions we hold. My dad's recent placement in 24-hour care has dramatically changed my view on the quality of life that Etive House can offer, especially during these challenging times. I would highly recommend Etive House to anyone who is seeking 24-hour care.

The care mum was given at Etive House care home was excellent. She was treated with respect and kindness. We, as a family, were always made to feel very welcome when we visited at any time. We are extremely grateful for the peace of mind we had, knowing mum was in such safe hands.

Given the horror stories which abound regarding UK care homes, I was sceptical and viewed my Pa having to go to a home with a lot of concern. I feared at best, his experience would likely be mediocre. Thankfully, I was proved entirely wrong! From the moment my Pa moved to Etive House, I have been impressed
time and time again. Rather than the usual experience as regards health and social care, it has been incredibly pleasant to find staff attentive to a fault who always ensure my Pa is treated with great care, dignity, individuality and love. The standard of the rooms is high, as is the food and activities arranged for the residents. But most of all, it is the staff. They go out of their way to allow us to keep in touch during the lockdown and have even helped transport my mother to and from the home for visits prior to this. The fact they clearly care, rather than just follow set procedures, means so, so much to my family. We couldn't be happier with the service provided.

Georgina

Georgina Taylor

Meet Our Manager!


Georgina has always been passionate about providing exceptional standards of care and started her career in Edinburgh as a Care Assistant, before qualifying as a Registered Nurse.


Having taken up the post over four years ago, Georgina finds her role as Manager at Etive House very rewarding – particularly seeing first-hand the impact of the positive changes her team make to the lives of residents within the home every day.


Working with the team at Etive House, Georgina has been able to revitalise the home and improve its Care Inspectorate grades whilst striving to change the culture to become even more inclusive and friendly


Georgina says:


“I feel a huge sense of warmth and accomplishment knowing that my actions and that of my team have such a positive outcome for the people in our care. I enjoy seeing my team develop and the benefits this brings to our residents and their families.


“Making Etive House feel like a special place to live and maintaining a warm, friendly and family atmosphere is a top priority for us. I would urge anyone considering making Etive House their home to be confident they can enjoy a fantastic life, achieving all of the things they wish with the option of trying some new experiences"

Mhairi Blue

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Mhairi began working in care in 1989 and was a day centre coordinator for Age Concern in Northern Ireland. When Mhairi moved back to Scotland in 2009, she began working at Etive House. Having initially applied for a post as a Senior Carer, she was encouraged to apply for the role of Unit Manager, and eventually, when the opportunity arose for a position within the home as Deputy Manager, Mhairi tentatively applied and was delighted to be the successful candidate. Mhairi has loved seeing how the home has progressed over the years and being an integral part of it. She also enjoys working closely with the residents and the care team, spending time with them, and having the opportunity to take on new ideas and suggestions to make the home the best it can possibly be for its staff and residents.

Morag Manson

Morag has been with the service for around 15 years as a Senior Care Assistant. Morag brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the senior staff team. Morag delivers the highest care and always goes above and beyond for the home and the residents. Morag is a huge support to her colleagues and remains passionate about delivering person-centred care.

Arfon has worked at Etive House since March 2015 starting as a Care Assistant before applying to become a Senior Carer. Since then, Arfon has also developed a passion for training development and gained his moving and handling training certificate enabling him to support others within the team as the home’s Training and Development Coordinator. Arfon absolutely loves his job at Etive House as the residents and staff team feel like one big family and the team are focused on caring for residents to a high standard, going above and beyond to make sure they live happy lives.

Michelle started her career as a care assistant in Etive House and has progressed to senior care assistant and is now the IPC Champion for the service, providing outstanding support, staff training and care through the most intense periods of the Covid outbreak and continuing to ensure we are compliant, and our staff feel supported and well trained. Michelle consistently goes above and beyond for the home and the residents.

Lorna Stevenson is the Head housekeeper here at Etive House and has previously worked in the hospitality sector for 26 years, starting as a housekeeper assistant and lastly Executive Housekeeper within a 4/5 star environment. Having worked in both residential and nursing homes in Glasgow as a Care Assistant which she greatly enjoyed, she was delighted when this position came up as she would be able to successfully combine her two passions – cleaning and caring for the elderly. Lorna loves that at Etive House there is fun, laughter and hope. She is excited for the future of the ever-progressive care home and how the team can surpass all previous achievements with motivation and enthusiasm.
