Marchmont House Care Home provides residential and nursing care to up to 51 older people. Situated in a leafy residential area of Port Glasgow, residents benefit from excellent local amenities and transport links as well as stunning views over the River Clyde.

The home is a converted mansion house and features an onsite hairdressing salon and a library, as well as lounge and dining areas, a patio and garden. Each bedroom has telephone and television points and most have en-suite facilities.

The daily activities programme includes 1 to 1 and group activities, visiting entertainers and trips out in the home’s minibus. A daily menu provides a variety of choices at each meal, and residents can also enjoy snacks, high tea and home baking.

Experience has been very happy during the short time here. Staff, at all levels, have been most helpful. Visitors most impressed at all times.

Me and my 2 sisters have been visiting the care home for about 2 years now and have been made feel welcome each and every time. The staff are very friendly and they treat our mum with care and respect and with dignity. She is always clean and tidy whenever we visit and my mum can't praise the staff
enough.

The staff at Marchmont House Care Home have been exceptional and very warm and welcoming. Any request is dealt with very quickly and efficiently. The staff are very respectful and caring towards my parent. The overall feeling of the home is very friendly, happy and homely and we’re very grateful for
the care provided. We look forward to the patio garden and the vegetable plot as that will give people an additional interest and get them outdoors now we’re in summer. We rated the activities as 4, only because we’re still coming out of Covid and they haven’t started their day trips yet.

Like you say, we are slowly moving out of Covid and have plans for a garden where residents can be involved in planting vegetables and seeds etc. The back garden is almost complete and looks so much brighter. Absolutely delighted with the care my dad is receiving. He is looking great and enjoying all the fun and activities. The staff are fantastic and can’t do enough for him. It’s a very hard decision to place a parent into a care home but I would highly recommend Marchmont.

All the facilities in the care home are excellent from management, nursing staff, carers, handy man and cleaners - all are helpful. The rooms are always kept spotless. Food and service is excellent. I would recommend the care home to anyone needing care. I am extremely happy to allow my dad to stay
in the care home and feel secure and happy to let him live the rest of his life.

I found the staff to be warm, caring and most importantly treated Mum well. When she was in initially for respite, I had confidence that she was being well cared for. Staff made time for her and made sure she was safe, happy and comfortable.

My mum has just become a resident in Marchmont Care Home and I am extremely satisfied with the care that has been put in place. Although it is taking my mum time to settle in, we are more than happy with the care and service provided from all staff and management.

I have been here for a little while now and I am very happy here. All the staff are so helpful and understanding and nothing ever seems to be a bother to them. I have learned how to crochet, I do jigsaw puzzles and word searches and play many different games, we all love the music that is played and
the staff help us remember our favourite songs so that they can be played. My favourite activity is bingo where I meet my friends for a nice chat. My bedroom has a lovely view over the river which can also be seen from the lounges. I enjoy the food here and the staff keep the place nice and clean.

We looked around at different care homes for my mum and nothing compared to Marchmont. It doesn’t feel like a care home or too clinical, it was very welcoming and homely. The manager and staff are all very respectful and caring towards Mum, they look after her very, very well like it was their own mum,
which is what we wanted and Mum is very happy and content at Marchmont. I can’t praise the manager, staff and care home enough, it gave myself and my family peace of mind knowing that Mum was very well cared for.

I am the Registered Manager here at Marchmont House Care Home. I have a wealth of experience in Care Home Management, also within Health and Social Care Sector and I am also a Registered Mental Health Nurse. I am passionate about the quality of service we provide to the people who live here at Marchmont and in making sure that the care and support we provide is always delivered at the highest standard with kindness and compassion. Motivating my team and keeping their skills up to date is also vitally important as this enables good practice. We at Marchmont pride ourselves on being able to demonstrate good outcome-based care and do this all through participation with you.
