Located in the picturesque, semi-rural district of the Hurlet, on the East Renfrewshire-Glasgow border, Applecross is near the town of Barrhead and conveniently located just a few miles from Silverburn Shopping Centre.

Set in extensive, pretty gardens this beautiful Care Home provides residential nursing care in a friendly, caring and professional environment aiming to “treat residents with respect and kindness, to protect their human rights by helping them to make individual choices and to promote privacy and dignity."

In addition to the highest quality nursing care for older people, Applecross also provides expert care for younger people with physical disabilities and other illnesses that require short term or long term nursing support. Recognising the unique needs of each individual, the highly trained and professional, caring staff aim to meet the needs of each person through a carefully designed and individualised care plan.

I feel like I was well looked after in Applecross. I had a great team of staff looking after me and getting me sorted for my move to my own house. I will miss the staff and other residents at Applecross. Thank you for all the help I have been given.

My mum was admitted into Applecross in February 2020 on a respite basis when my father was taken into hospital. In March her placement became short term. Sadly my dad's situation deteriorated and he died in May. My mum is still in Applecross. I have nothing but admiration for the job the staff are doing
particularly in these unprecedented times. We were regularly in FaceTime contact with my mum when visits stopped. And the staff had to deal with telling my mum about my dad's passing which I believe they did with compassion and sensitivity. My mum has thrived in Applecross and although physically frail, she has improved greatly in relation to her mental capacity due to the level of stimulation she receives in the home. On visits - both outside and 'window/phone' visits the staff are supportive enthusiastic and committed. I have nothing but admiration for the work they have down with my mum particularly with the added challenges of COVID and a bereavement. They have my eternal gratitude.

The nursing staff provide a very high standard of healthcare and have my mother's interest at the core of all they do. The support workers are caring, compassionate and very supportive, and at all times professional with regards the care they provide for my mum. The standard of cleanliness is high,
at no time have I ever felt any need to comment or speak to staff about this, it's very well managed. The handling of the recent pandemic has been excellent and at all times we have been kept up to date and this gave us peace of mind that Mum was being taken care of in a very difficult situation.
The manager is highly professional and always makes himself available to address any concerns or queries we may have regarding my mum.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Applecross Nursing Home as a professional well-run care home with excellent compassionate staff.

My husband was admitted to Applecross back in March just before lockdown regulations were put in place at the start of Covid pandemic. Since my husband has been residing at the care home, I have been kept fully up to date with matters regarding his well being and also communication has been good in
relation to the Covid situation.
My husband enjoys his meals that are prepared for him and always has plenty to eat - he never complains and does have a great appetite. He also enjoys the chats he has with the nursing and care staff, and he has coped well with the transition and adjusted well within the new environment in the midst of a pandemic, whilst not being able to see his family. Communication has been good with calls to him or the home arranging video calls/Facetime etc for us all. Mid-July we have been able to visit every weekend which has been good for us all.
The staff have done their best and utmost to reassure residents and families during these difficult times.

Lack of communication. One doesn't know what the other doing, no time to spend five minutes just sitting talking to a resident. Management not got a clue whats going on. All sit on mobile phones and I don't mean the ones with resident's information on them. All staff congregate round in the staff room,
exchanging their daily stories and pics on phones. As for Covid, once we were allowed back in to see Dad, a nurse walked in off the street, came onto the third level, congregated outside Dad's door. Someone asked why are you in, she said been in my garden and playing with dogs, and decided to pop in to see you, then she proceeded through to stand outside staff room, no mask no gloves, jeans and jumper on. After me watching her for 10 minutes, someone gave her a mask and she carried it into the staff room. To the manager, get yourself in there on spot checks, and see who the real workers are. When word goes around the manager's coming up, they actually try to look busy, too late for the nurse. To the manager, it's time to do management.
