Norwood offers dementia care in one house and care and support to the frail and elderly in another. Both houses provide care for people with Parkinson’s disease, Huntington's disease and to those who are looking for palliative care.

The focus is on individualised care for people in a homely and welcoming setting, situated in the historical town of Barrhead near Glasgow. Partners or siblings can stay in some of the home’s larger bedrooms, and many rooms have en-suite facilities.

At mealtimes residents enjoy both hot and cold options to choose from, as well as a popular Night Bite menu that is available from 6.30pm to 6.30am.

Arts and crafts, quizzes and karaoke are all regular activities enjoyed by residents. Norwood has a dedicated activity co-ordinator who works hard to ensure residents of all abilities can participate in daily activities to keep active and stimulated.

Norwood Care Home has truly been an incredible experience for me as a volunteer. The staff at this facility are not only professional and compassionate, but they also create a warm and welcoming environment for the residents. The care and attention given to each individual is truly remarkable. I have

My father-in-law has been in Norwood twice so far for a two-week stay each time. We have always felt he is safe, secure and happy there, he didn't want to leave after his first two-week stay with them. He has advanced Alzheimer and the staff know exactly how to care for him and how to treat him not
only well, but with dignity and respect. It is definitely where he will spend any further respite stays. We enjoy seeing what he has been up to via their social media page which is updated regularly. Fabulous service and all the staff we have met have been amazing.

Mum has complex medical needs and really suffered during lockdown, as most residents did, but the staff learned to use Zoom which we continue to use today.
I am most pleased with the appointment of an activities coordinator who has offered activities to encourage mental stimulation.

My mother has been in the home for over seven years. She has always been well looked after, clean, tidy and well-fed. The staff are always cheery and welcoming. The Facebook page keeps you informed about the daily activities. Staff always contact you about any changes in care that may be needed. All
staff you meet, cleaners, handyman and kitchen staff are cheery and pleasant.

Very clean facilities, staff are first class. Always friendly and can't do enough to help my mother. Always have activities on for my mother which is good to see.

I feel as if the standards of the home has went down over the last year. No activities at all when they need it especially during Covid. How long can they make the excuse because of Covid. Staff are fantastic but under so much pressure due to staff shortages. Talking to staff; morale is down, also now
informed by the Head Nurse that the wrong dosage of medication was given to my mum and dad on two occasions, they suffer from heart failure.

Hello David and thank you for your feedback. You are correct that during Covid our activities team have not always been in full attendance. This was due to Covid protocols surrounding isolation and shielding which were necessary to protect them, their colleagues and most importantly the residents. We apologise for this and please rest assured we are now back to full staffing. We had a lovely garden party last week organised by the activity team and lots more is planned! Thank you for your high scores for staff, cleanliness, safety, bedrooms, food/drink. We will pass on to the relevant departments. With regards to the medications, it is protocol to contact the next of kin and GP straight away if we suspect an error. On further investigation your dad's was a stock count error and in your mum's case a minor error that had no ill effects. However we apologies if this caused concern and we have put new electronic processes in place to reduce the likelihood of this happening again.

Staff very professional are caring. My brother has been a resident for two years now and I being his next of kin have no complaints. Staff have been working under very difficult circumstances and are doing a good job.

If you are looking for somewhere that you can trust to take care of your loved one, Norwood is a place that you should consider.
I'm a nurse and acutely aware of the pitfalls and horror stories concerning care homes. Admitting that we can no longer cope with the care of a loved one is heartbreaking.
Finding somewhere that you can trust and that understands the needs of a patient with physical needs and dementia is not always easy.
The staff at Norwood have been kind to my step-father and when Mum visits they take time to listen and show genuine concern for her health too. The rooms are clean, the residents look cared for and the catering staff take note of resident preferences.
During the challenging times we find ourselves in, we know as a family that even though we can't visit because of Covid-19 and the need to protect the vulnerable population at Norwood - we know that our loved one will be cared for and wish nothing but the best for the Norwood Family at this time.

We were a bit anxious as to how mum would settle into a care home environment. She has however settled well. The staff are very nice, friendly and approachable. The care home is well kept, spotlessly clean and menus provide a good choice of meals. There are lots of organised activities and outings.
Mum has been made to feel welcome and the staff are attentive to mums needs.

My family's experience of Norwood Care Home has been nothing short of excellent. The home has a warm and relaxed welcoming feel to it. All official paperwork and information about the home was explained thoroughly.
My father settled in quicker than we expected and it was a relief for us to see him
content and talking to the lovely staff very well. We are amazed how well they work with my dad and around him, which we feel that after we visit, we can go home relaxed knowing how well he's cared for.

My mum is a resident at Norwood Care Home and is approaching her 4th year in residence. My mother has all her needs met as she continues her journey with her condition. I have found the staff to be more than helpful in all aspects of my mums care, health and wellbeing.
The care and support has been
excellent and my mum is treated with dignity at all times. This is a safe environment which ultimately, my mum calls home.

I am very satisfied with all aspects of care given to my mother at the home. The level of care is very good and any issues that are raised by me are quickly dealt with to a satisfactory conclusion.


The home has a good team of staff who are extremely dedicated to making sure my mother and all the

residents are made to feel like it is their home. Sometimes problems arise but the management team are always avaliable to discuss and resolve the problem.
