Mum has settled well and is generally happy and well cared for. The unit sometimes seems short staffed but this is not reflected in the care. Frequency of tea in the morning seems erratic and a bit cold when she gets it. The garden area could be better kept, furnishings in the rooms seem to differ.
Perhaps more surfaces for family photos and personal belongings. Staff are lovely and very caring. One member of staff occasionally indiscreet when discussing mum in public areas.

I’d like to reassure you that whilst team members might not always be visible, we utilise dependency tools to help ensure our units are never understaffed. Furthermore, we are currently carrying out an improvement programme throughout the home. Hopefully, you will have seen the lounge and communal areas are being beautifully refurbished but rest assured that we have plans to continue to upgrade rooms and also the garden area so that it can be enjoyed fully in the (hopefully) better weather. I am sorry to hear you felt a staff member may have been indiscreet. If you wish to discuss this with myself or the Deputy Manager further, we would seek to quickly address the matter with the staff member involved. Thanks again.

The care my father received at Cochrane Care home was of the highest standard and we brought him back from the hospital to receive end of life care there. The staff treated him with the greatest love and dignity in his time there and were a wonderful support to the family throughout. It is easy to see
the genuine care and compassion the staff have for the residents and they are true professionals at all times. I cannot recommend the care home and the staff highly enough - they were magnificent and my father was very happy and well cared for in his time there. Thank you.

Its the first time ever that we have had to use a care home for my husband. I've been blown away with Cochrane Care Home, not only are they taking care of my husband, who is very ill, they have looked after me and my family. We all go home after our visit with no worries, so happy with the nurses and

My brother was in here for 4 years and was extremely well looked after. On visiting, we were always welcomed. Administration staff excellent. Great treatment of my brother from all care staff, especially in his last hours. The whole of the staff would sit with him, taking it in shifts. I have nothing
but praise for this home.

My experience was an education! I can only speak for Tannahill Unit. Any time my mum had a problem or if I had a problem, no matter what it was about, I spoke to the manager or assistant manager and they resolved the problem. My mum was there for over three years and died recently, and I can only applaud
the nurses, senior carers, carers etc for their kindness, compassion and empathy shown to my mum, not forgetting the kindness and support shown to myself and family. Forever grateful!

My mother stayed at the Cochrane Care Home as a temporary placement and during her 3 months stay, she settled in comfortably and was well looked after. Staff were excellent and always very attentive to my mother's needs. As a temporary setting, Cochrane served my mother admirably and I am sure if circumstances
had been different, the family would not have had cause to move her.

Staff are friendly and try to deliver a high quality of care. However, I feel they are overstretched and can't always spend the correct amount of time with residents, especially those that need help with mobility and toileting. These residents need time which means if care staff are attending to them,
other residents may have to wait a long time for their needs to be attended to. This, however, is a lack of staff issue and not a bad reflection on the staff already doing a good job.

My brother arrived in the care home 8 th June 2018! I cannot express my gratitude and their loving care shown to my brother. He enjoyed his time, loved all the banter he had with the staff. Unfortunately, due to ill health, he passed away 19 th sept 2018! He was loved, and most all got first class attention,

My father was cared for by the staff since January of this year (2018). He had dementia and was in the late stages. It took him a while to settle. Eventually, he accepted it as part of his home. The staff were very patient with him and worked around him very well.
Towards his end, I cannot fault the
sincere care my father received. The main nurse was exceptional in making us understand towards his end.

Choosing Cochrane Care Home for our mum was the best decision we could have made for her. We've noticed a marked difference in her, she seems happy and cheerful and so much more content. This is in contrast to how in her last residence, where she was not happy and although the staff seemed pleasant
enough, they just didn't seem to actually do anything to make Mum's care a pleasant experience. The move to Cochrane Care Home, made such a change and I have no doubt this is due to the dedication and genuine 'care' shown by the staff, where they are very attentive, showing a positive, willing approach to make the residents stay a happy and pleasurable one. Staff take the time to really understand our Mum and do what they can to make her stay relaxed, enjoyable and sociable. This takes the stress and worries away from the family. Knowing that our Mum is well looked after and content gives us confidence that Mum is being looked after with dedicated professional staff in nice surroundings.

My mum was placed in Cochrane Care Home initially as an interim placement, however, I quickly came to the decision that I wanted my mum to stay there. I consulted with my siblings and they were of the same opinion. We are very impressed with the genuine care and interest shown by the staff towards our
mother. We draw great comfort from knowing that she is safe and well cared for in her remaining time.

Fantastic! thanks so much for all of the help that all the staff who are now like an extended family to us. Like everyone I suppose we were really worried about leaving my dad anywhere that's not home and worried about the care and respect you would hope for, the staff in Cochrane Care Home have put
our worries to bed and I mean that my mum has peace of mind and can sleep more contently knowing that the love of our lives is safe and cared for .

I can only comment on the Tannahill Unit as I have no contact with the other units.
On the whole, the Unit seems to be running well, some days better than others.
On certain days it can be extremely noisy with blaring TVs, especially when bedroom doors are left wide open and the corridor acts as a
channel for the noise.
I think that there should be more music, particularly music which the residents can identify with, as opposed to the TV in the lounge showing movies/programmes which appear to be of no interest to anybody. When suitable music is played I can see a few feet tapping away even although they appear to be disinterested.
The staff is quite attentive and generally, the residents appear to be getting treated with respect. The rapport between staff and residents varies but is generally excellent.

My mum came to Cochrane Care Home in March 2017 and as anyone in this situation knows, it can be an extremely trying time for everyone involved. At first, I didn’t think my mum would settle, but with the help of the staff who took time to help my Mum, she slowly settled and now has many a laughs with
the staff and those involved in her care.


I feel happy with my mum's overall care and I know my mum is in a safe environment. My husband and I were both invited to the homes annual Christmas party which was a 1920's theme and it was a terrific day which my mum thoroughly enjoyed and so did we. The staff went out of their way to make it special which is uplifting to know my mum is getting out and about. Everyone is well looked after my mum is always clean, comfortable and well dressed. The lounge area is a bit dated but this is changing soon. My family and I are always welcome and if there are any issues you just have to speak to a staff member to get it resolved.

I am very happy with my uncle's care in this home.
He really likes being here, all the staff are very caring and considerate of the residents' individual needs.
I know he is safe and well looked after.
The home is extremely clean and kept to a very high standard.
