Ardencraig Care Home in Castlemilk is on the south side of Glasgow and has rooms for 35 older people and a Mental Health Unit for 55 younger adults, mainly with alcohol related brain damage. The main 60 bedroom part of the home was constructed in 2002. The 30 bedroom extension was completed in 2005.

All bedrooms have en suite facilities including a walk in shower and modern furnishings and residents are encouraged to personalise their room to make it more homely to them. All bedroom doors have a lock, enabling residents to allow entry to only those they wish to invite in.

The home has activities co-ordinators who are available to provide recreational interests and there is a mini bus for planned day trips and regular outings.

The home is currently installing a cafeteria and cook school to enhance social interaction and assist in developing catering skills.

Local amenities are within walking distance including a swimming pool, sports centre, bowling green and transport links to the city centre.

My brother has been in care facilities for nearly ten years and apart from the initial 2 years in the neuro-rehab facility, I've never felt at ease with him in the care facilities he was in previously. I am really pleased at the atmosphere, care, and accessibility I have had since he came here, and,
despite covid restrictions, have been able to see him anytime I have requested and so much help in making his room a home, with his own things around him. I look forward to more activities becoming available and joining in future festivities.

My brother has been a resident of Ardencraig for a good amount of years. I cannot remember how long as I was not informed when he went in there because of a family dispute. However, that does not matter. What does matter is that he is well looked after by all the very friendly staff. I do not see him
very often but phone regularly in case he requires anything. I speak to him on the phone which is great. Ardencraig is a clean, well-looked-after care home. My brother is happy. That is all that matters. Many thanks to the staff.
