I have been visiting my wife on an almost daily basis for over 3 years and consider the care provided to be excellent. The individual attention given to residents includes the warm welcome people visiting are given. Despite the inevitable changes of staff over time, I have never felt any concern over
the safety and wellbeing provided. The atmosphere is cheerfully professional and purposeful.

Clarence Court offers excellent staff care. In house patients treated with respect. Rooms - some are a little tired. The home overall is clean.

My mother in law has been in Clarence Court for 18 months.
She settled in well, considering she has lived on her own until she was 98.
This has been possible due to the welcoming and friendly atmosphere coupled with excellent professional care.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Clarence
Court to anyone.

This home promises and delivers! It offers excellent care and value for money - and is run by very caring and attentive staff. Comments and input from relatives are encouraged and welcomed and acted upon as appropriate. The accommodation is first class and can be said to be on a par with a 3 to 4-star
hotel. Food is of the highest standard and quality and the care user is invited to comment on their likes, dislikes and preferences. All of the staff are friendly and the management are very approachable. Various activities are planned for every day - both in the home and visiting various locations outside the home.

My experience of Clarence Court has been extremely positive in the six weeks since my mother became a resident. The most important aspect is the wide range of good qualities shown by the staff. I feel my mother is being very well looked after. She enjoys the food and activities, but most of all the
chat and care shown towards her.

My wife has only been a resident for 6 weeks and has been very self-centred and not at all happy to be in a care home rather than her own home.
The whole staff have been very attentive, not only in assessing her but also in trying to get her motivated. I have been very impressed by them all, as have
my two daughters who try to visit on alternate days.

Thank you for your positive comments about our home, it's great to hear how impressed you have been by our team and that you'd recommend Clarence Court to others. It can take a little while to settle into life in a new home, our team take the time to get to know every resident as an individual to help them feel 'at home'. Residents are encouraged to customise their bedroom to suit them, such as bringing their own small furniture items and decorations from home, which can help familiarise the space. We can also tailor our menu to include dishes your wife enjoys as well as provide activities to suit her interests. Feel free to pop for a chat with our Home Manager anytime to see how we can help.

My mum moved in Clarence Court care home on the 15th February 2018. For a time as a family, we worried how our mum would cope going into care, and to be honest, it was not all plain sailing in the beginning but its fair to say this was a two-way process. The staff get to know my mum and my mum taking
the time to settle in and it would be fair to say that as time has gone on, things are getting better and better for my mum. The staff at the home are kind, funny, helpful and always makes us, as visitors, feel welcome, I also feel that the staff are happy to speak with me or any member of my family if we have any questions or express any concerns about my mum. The home has an events organiser for outings and social events for all the residents which is great. My mum loves the fact she can get her hair done on a weekly basis by the hairdresser that comes in also the staff find the time to do her nails which my mum loves. The management at the home just makes you feel comfortable to speak to.

My mother has settled really well in Clarence Court. She is happy and content in what is her new home. She is comfortable in her new room and is well looked after by the staff. My impression of the care home is always positive as there is always a warm welcome and around there is a nice atmosphere about.
Clarence Court which sets it aside from the others is that it is set in a great location. The nursing, admin and caring staff have also been very approachable and understanding of my mother's needs and it shows in her appearance and her warm expression on our arrival. She has enjoyed the various excursions she has been on. This house gives her something to look forward to. The entertainment team do excellent work. All in all, we are very happy with the experience and we are very grateful for the care and attention given to my mother.

My Mum has been at Clarence Court for nearly 3 years now. She has dementia and the standard of care here is good. The home is small and friendly and is an excellent facility that Brighterkind should be proud of. Where issues/incidents occur they are usually dealt with effectively. The "wishing well"
programme is brilliant - the effort made is very much appreciated.

In the short space of time since my grandmother-in-law has moved here (less than 1 month) all the way from St Andrews, she has settled in with ease. "Feels at home" is her new favourite saying. The activities on offer are fantastic and centred around others. Her love of church and being able to attend
brings her so much joy. Thank you Clarence Court.

My Mum has been in Clarence Court care home for about one year now. The staff are all amazing. The care they give my Mum is outstanding and I know I need not to worry about her as she is in safe and capable hands. If there are any issues regarding my Mum the staff efficiently contact me. My Mum is settled
and happy, and safe and that's the main thing.

Our experience of the home is generally good/very good. Dad's room is always clean and tidy and he seems very settled here. The staff are always helpful and pleasant and I feel that Dad is well cared for and that the environment is comfortable and secure. We have sometimes lost track of some of Dad's
belongings but his dementia likely plays a large part in this. Would like him to see the hairdresser more frequently as this was always important to him and also listen to music more frequently.

Reply from Laura Wilson, Home Manager at Clarence Court

Thank you for your positive review of the home and the team, I am delighted that you feel your dad is well cared for and I am happy to hear that he is settled. With regards to missing belongings please let the team know and they will endeavour to locate them. I will also discuss with the team about enabling your dad to have more access to music, both group activity and solo. The hairdresser visits on a weekly basis, therefore, I will request that the team encourage your dad to attend more frequently. Once again, thank you for your review, if there is anything else I can help with please come and speak to me at your earliest convenience.

Mum has been I the care home for 4 months and I am delighted with the care she is receiving. She is treated with care and kindness and her mobility has improved noticeably since we arrived. Staff always treat other residents with respect and dignity and there is a regular programme of activities in
place. The building makes good use of the available space and both the lounge and dining areas have large dual aspect windows with a pleasant airy feel.

Clarence Court was by far the best home we visited when trying to find a place for my dad. It's turned out to be a good choice. We've found it to be great in terms of care in all the categorised listed below. In particular, we've found the staff to be very knowledgeable and on the ball and importantly,
it seems to be a good working environment. We (my sister and I) feel reassured that my dad is being well looked after.

Clarence Court has been a really good move for my mum. She is well cared for, has lots of activities and enjoys chatting with staff and other residents. My mum had not been out for a couple of years till she moved to Clarence Court, the staff encouraged her to go out on day trips which she thoroughly
enjoyed. My mum is cared for well, with dignity and compassion.
I find staff friendly. There is plenty of chat when I visit and they keep us informed of any changes in my mum.
The care home is very much part of a wider community as the staff engage with the local churches, businesses and nursery.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.662)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.662) out of 10 for Clarence Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.787 for Clarence Court is calculated as follows: ( (38 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 47 Ratings = 4.787

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Clarence Court is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.5

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
