My brother went into Barchester Four Hills last July, he settled down very well. The staff are excellent and very caring, they phone and tell you if anything is wrong, you can ask questions and they will answer you. The reception staff are so welcome when you come in for your visit and very friendly.

My mum went into care to Barchester Four Hills Care home on April 1st 2021, obviously there are still a lot of Covid-19 restrictions in place, so my review takes into account the limited experience we have had so far. The public areas and my mum's room always seem to be clean and well kept. We brought
up personal effects to make her feel at home and everything is cleaned and disinfected before going into her room. The staff have been very good and have been proactive in keeping me updated with things happening with my mum, even so much as calling to tell me she's been outside or that she's been talking with other residents. We quickly established a good rapport with the staff and the unit manager, particularly from the Lambhill unit. The manager has been fantastic, both at caring for my mum and also helping me become more comfortable accepting my mum's new normal. I expect my scores to be higher as restrictions relax and I can observe my mum getting more use of the facilities and we can visit more regularly.

The experience was very pleasant, and I am extremely grateful for the care and attention my mother is getting. She has improved a great deal since going into Four Hills, and she is happy and feels safe and secure. She said the staff are very attentive. It puts my mind at ease.

My uncle is receiving Palliative care. He says he feels well looked after and that all the staff are very good. He enjoys the food and feels that he is getting all the care he needs. I feel the precautions taken to allow to visit are warranted and carried out with respect. The staff are all friendly,
and I feel satisfied with the care package.

I had the most wonderful visit with my mum on Tuesday 16th March, who is in Lamb hill unit, Four Hills. Having not seen my mum for many months, I was feeling apprehensive, as my mum has dementia. But I needn't have worried. The whole visit was made so special by the Lamb hill sister in charge and her
always wonderful team. My mum looked so cared for and loved, also happy in her wee world, telling me that this was her home, and she loved it and I could see that she did. I was bouncing with happiness after my visit. Once again my endless thanks to each and every one of you. Forever grateful to you all for the sacrifices you made to care for my mum throughout the pandemic. Look forward to seeing you all next week. THANK YOU.

I cannot praise the staff at Fourhills enough. The care and attention that they provided my mum allowed her to live comfortably in her own space until she passed rather than constant hospital visits (which was a fortnightly occurrence for the 2-years before she moved into the home). Unfortunately, due
to Covid-19, we were unable to spend as much time with our Mum as we would have liked - it was a terrible time for us as a family, however, the care my mum received, and also the communication that the staff had with us, did help to ease our worry. The staff at this time not only cared for my mum but took the place of her family, and we will be forever grateful for that.

My dad has been in Four Hills nursing home for some time now, and the care he receives is excellent. All the staff in the Ruchill unit have looked after him very well. Supporting his every need and they know him so well; he has a wicked sense of humour, and they picked up on that right away. He enjoys
being there. From the minute you arrive, to the end of your visit there, you are welcomed and the staff are so nice.

My mother has been in the care home for some time now, and while I was apprehensive at first as to how she would settle, I am very happy with how she has been looked after. She has had lots of attention, and when she was able, she always told me how great the food was. As her dementia has worsened,
the level of care has increased, and although I haven't been able to see her for a while, I am more than happy and relaxed that she is in good hands.

Our mother was only in Four Hills for a few days, following her discharge from hospital. She was very frail, following many years of Alzheimer's and more recently a stroke and sadly passed away shortly after her arrival. However, we were very happy with the quality of the care she received and could
see that she was much happier, more relaxed and much more responsive while she was there. She was made very welcome and the staff put a lot of effort into getting to know her and making her feel at home. They cared for her lovingly, and could not have been kinder. We were very grateful for this, especially in her final hours and also for the support provided to ourselves at this time.

Initially, we were apprehensive as any family would be, but this quickly changed and we just cannot thank the whole staff within Four Hills enough. The professional way and the care they gave throughout to my mother-in-law's time there was exceptional and always given with kindness, dignity and thoughtfulness.

Four Hills Care Home was exactly the care my aunt needed in her final days. The staff did everything (and more) to treat, support and comfort her. After she passed, the staff made sure, I and my family were informed immediately, took care of every detail and continued to help with advice and arrangements.

My aunt was initially admitted in August 2018 to the Firhill unit. She received excellent care from the team leader and his team, we also felt cared for and supported. The thought of a loved one moving into a residential care setting is daunting but in our case, with the help of the staff at Four Hills,
the reality was so much better than we ever imagined. My aunt was so settled and content that we sought to make her temporary placement a permanent one. She was transferred to the Lambhill unit in October 2018. The team leader of this unit and her excellent team welcomed her warmly. Her room was lovely, warm and inviting and we enjoyed spending time with her there. The day rooms were a wee bit less fresh, although that didn't seem to bother my aunt. She thoroughly enjoyed the freshly prepared meals and weekly trips to the onsite hairdresser. Sadly, my aunt passed away in hospital in May 2019 after a short illness. We are so very thankful to the team leader and the Lambhill team and will never forget their care and commitment.

The needs of my mother are met. She is listened to and given dignity and respect. The whole team understand and communicate and assist my mother in a consistent way that allows my Mother to be treated the way she wants. It gives us a chance to be a daughter again and her care is given.

My mother is very well looked after. The staff are very friendly and professional. The care home is kept very clean and to a very high standard. I have never had any reason to complain since my mother has been a resident. My mother is happy and content and all her needs are met. Great care home.

Tracy was the BHC Divisional Winner for Care Practitioner of the Year in 2019. Tracy is a valuable team member for both Four Hills and Barchester and has worked with us since 1997!

Job Title: Head of Community - Fir Hill

Hi, my name is Mary, and I am the Community Manager of our Fir Hill Community. In 1975, I started working as a healthcare assistant at 17 years old and was originally from the islands of Scotland.


I worked as a registered nurse with the NHS before moving to Canada. I have 30-plus years of experience working in care homes.


I started at Four Hills in April 2023 as a staff nurse before being promoted to unit manager. The response I have had from the Fir Hill community has been excellent, and it has been an honour to work with. The residents are the heart of the community.

Annie joined Four Hills in 2014 in the Laundry department before moving to the front-of-house in Jun 2015. After Annie's hard work and continuous support to the home, Annie was promoted to Administrator in February 2022.


Annie loves to interact with residents and families and does not only a great job at supporting our residents but our staff too.

Eileen Orr

Job Title: Activities Coordinator

Eileen joined the Four Hills Family in 1999 and has worked in various roles since. Eileen originally started as a Kitchen Assistant, then moved on to Domestic, before moving on to her current role as Activities Assistant since 2017.


Eileen loves to bring joy to residents' lives by putting on meaningful and engaging activities. From in-house entertainment to trips out, our Activities team always have something going on to keep our residents engaged and stimulated.
