My mother has been, at Parkhouse Manor, for a couple of years. She is very happy with the care and attention received. She is also very happy with the food offered. During my visits, I have always found the staff very friendly and helpful and it is obvious that the staff really care for those they look
after. There are always lots of staff around and seem to engage well with the residents. If ever there are any medical or other issues with my mother's care, I or one of my sisters always receive an informative call from a member of staff. The only issue I have is, as my mother has dementia, she is now unable to use her mobile phone which makes easy telephone contact, with her, pretty difficult and can entail many unanswered calls from myself or my sisters. I do, however, understand that telephone lines have to be kept as clear as possible but I feel that this is an issue that could be addressed.

I was worried that my Dad wouldn't settle at the care home but my concerns were totally unfounded. The staff at Parkhouse Manor are so lovely and attentive. The care home itself is kept spotlessly clean and there is always some form of entertainment going on. I can't thank all the staff enough for their
care and support of my 92 year old Dad.

My mum has always felt safe and secure at Parkhouse Manor. The staff know all residents very well and are a very happy, caring workforce.
There are always activities going on and all residents are encouraged and most are willing to participate and join in with the fun.

I think the care and facilities are excellent. The activities are very good and leaders engaging and enthusiastic. I just wish my mum would take part.
I'd love to be more involved and for mum to be enabled to regain more mobility. Physiotherapy input would be great. All in all it seems to be a lovely
place to live and I appreciate the care.

My aunt has been in Parkhouse for over a year, and my mum for four months. The home has a family feel, staff are kind, patient and caring in dealing with people with a range of different physical and cognitive issues. The home is clean and well-run and staff are good at keeping family informed of any
issues. Recent appointment of activities co-ordinator is a very positive development.

My Mother has been a resident for almost 18 months and has been looked after really well. She never finds anything to complain about, she says that the food and staff are very good. Her room is always very clean and I have never had anything to complain about.

My husband has been a resident for over 18 months and I am satisfied that he is being well cared for. The staff are always pleasant and helpful and the catering very good with choice of menus. All rooms clean and fresh.
I feel that my husband's condition is managed well. Haven't seen any daily activities,
but celebration dates are made very enjoyable by staff.

I had visited 13 care homes prior to choosing this one. I liked the fact the staff were engaging constantly with the residents. I did not give any notice before visiting the home but that would not have mattered as visitors are welcome anytime.
The home is clean and the residents tidy in appearance.
Calendar events are all celebrated and on the notice board, family members welcome. They listen to you as a family member, as you are the one that has cared for this resident for years. I am confident that my mother is well looked after.

Care home is always spotlessly clean and fresh. All staff very approachable, caring and attentive. Had been no activities for residents but we have been told this is now in place and residents will get out and about a bit more. Both my aunts are resident and I feel stimulation is required. Sitting in
day room for days at a time is not good for them, though when I visit they do seem content.
Could do with better access to tv in both day areas in Beechview. TV is only in one part, in the corner. Garden furniture area could be nearer the door perhaps and furniture renewed for use in better weather.

My mum has been made very welcome and has settled well in the care home. The staff are caring and I know my mum is in good hands. The atmosphere is homely and we have been encouraged to personalise my mum's room, bringing in furniture from home. The decision to admit my mum to care was a difficult one
however, I am reassured that it is the right one and that we have picked the perfect care home for her. The manager and her team are doing a great job!

My mother's care in Parkhouse Manor Care Home has been first class. The staff have managed to encourage her to return to the sociable cheery person she had lost. The staff are friendly and constant. The staff nurse or care manager is always available to discuss my mothers care. My mother's room is spacious
and kept spotlessly clean. I feel at ease knowing my mother is being well looked after and that she is happy.

Having experienced another more modern home where another sister was placed I was delighted to experience the level of care at Parkhouse Manor Care Home. It may not be the most modern or best equipped but to me what impressed was the quality of care, not young inexperienced disinterested staff but mature,
understanding and extremely caring. I am delighted that my sister is in their professional caring hands.

Current Review Score: 7.4 (7.437)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.4 (7.437) out of 10 for Parkhouse Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.333 for Parkhouse Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (5 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 4.333

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.104 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Parkhouse Manor Care Home is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 48 registered maximum number of service users is 9.6. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.6 = 0.104

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
