Quayside Care Home, situated in the peaceful residential community of Yoker, supports older people to lead their best lives with personalised nursing and nursing dementia care.

The friendly and comfortable home offers a place for residents to relax, unwind and socialise with friends and family. This home offers lovely en-suite bedrooms, a hair salon, summer house and a wellbeing programme which helps residents to maintain their hobbies, try out new things and engage with the local community.

The catering team at Quayside understands the nutritional needs of older people and creates delicious meals to ensure a lovely dining experience for all residents and visitors. They offer a wide range of popular dining areas that provide a welcoming space to enjoy meals with fellow residents, or family and friends.

The dedicated and professional care team at Quayside likes to learn about each resident’s hobbies and interests to design a comprehensive activity programme, supporting each person to enjoy the things they love most. There is a nice ambience at Quayside. The staff are very attentive to my sister. Friendly and cheerful. The rooms are bright and cheery, having her own personal belongings around her. Her medical needs are well cared for. My sister says the food is very good with plenty of variety. Quayside has a wide
range of activities to suit the residents, with outings also. The management is extremely helpful to me, with guidance regarding finances etc. My sister is very content, living at Quayside and this gives me peace of mind.

Lovely staff and my grandmother has settled in great. A clean room and my gran is being very well looked after. The staff make her laugh and take an interest in her and what she likes. Very happy with all aspects of care and would recommend. The only negative, is the rooms could do with a refresh, as
a little dated, but are very clean.

Whilst I appreciate the rooms are a little dated, I am delighted to advise Quayside will be receiving a planned refurbishment in November 2022, which will bring the home up to date and provide a stunning home for our residents. My father has been a resident since 2018. He was initially happy enough but the home has deteriorated over this period. When he first moved in there was a core staff of long-serving staff. As a result, the residents were able to develop a "family" atmosphere. However, staff turnover is now very high
and all these staff members have now left. His unit is now nearly all staffed by agency workers. I always had a number of concerns with Quayside since he moved in such as poor food, poor decoration, and very basic amenities but I could overlook these as he seemed happy due to the staff previously employed there.


I am now looking to move him out as soon as possible.

The rooms are extremely small, you could not possibly bring any of your own items to make you feel more at home. You have a bed, chest of drawers, a tiny wardrobe beside a sink, and one chair. That is your room for the next few years until you die. The food is like old school dinners, so all this stuff
on their website you can work out a feeding plan with them is just plain lies. When asked if I could put food in the fridge for my sister, the response was, "oh well you know the fridge is really only for milk". When asked if we could buy her a fridge for her room. "Well yes, but we would have to give you the type and the make". That being said I don't know where we would be able to place this fridge, the room is so small. There is a great deal of noise. There are not enough personnel for the residents. That being said I would presume that most care homes are the same. I don't find the level of care very good at all. What a sad world we live in.

My mum and dad were both residents at the nursing home for about a year. They were in different units due to the care they required. Both my parents received the highest level of care and the staff could not have done anymore to make their time at the home so safe and enjoyable for them. I and all my
family can not thank everyone for the care and compassion they showered my parents with. I can not recommend this nursing home highly enough, 10/10.

Your nurses, care and domestic staff are all so loving and caring to our wonderful old folk. The love I've seen them give to each and every one of them is really outstanding. I have been up to this home nearly every day since 2nd February all day so I have seen and each everyone is outstanding. I have
no fear over missing a day here and there because I know with my heart he is being cared for with love and respect so thank you so much.

I rate this care home very highly. It is a really nice place and all the staff are very helpful and care very much for everyone here.
I have always been informed about how my mum has been whether good or bad and she is well looked after 24hours a day.
I have no complaints whatsoever all the staff
are brilliant.

My Dad was brought in for an assessment. I found that the staff immediately made the effort to put myself and my Dad at ease and assured us that all my Dad's health and wellbeing needs would be taken care of. I found all the staff to be very caring and very professional in their approach. I would highly

I feel that the staff give my mum all the attention that she needs one hundred per cent of the time. My mum had a wee upset when one of her favourite carers was moved but she has got over that now and she gets on with all the carers, they are wonderful people and they all do a fantastic job.

Since my mum was placed in here she has come on a ton and back to her old self from her stay in hospital. All her sons/daughter have said the same, we all can't thank all the staff for looking after her so well. Big thank you from all mums family.

My mother was admitted to Quayside Care Home on 22nd December 2017.
She seemed to settle quite well which was a nice surprise to us as her family.
She is happy and content and loves all members of staff and looks forward to her meal's every day.

Shaun Docherty

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?


“Delivering from the heart”


As a Registered Nurse, Shaun has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. He is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Shaun chose to work in the care sector as he has experience in firsthand, the kind care given, as an elderly relative required 24 hour care. He remembered thinking it must be a great feeling leaving a shift knowing that you have helped to achieve a positive outcome.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Shaun remarked:


“I love being able to instil positive cultures to enable to adopt a more person centre approach. Also, I like being able to chat and spend time with Residents during my walkarounds. Walking into the units and seeing Resident’s smile- this gives me the confidence that the team are getting in right”


Shaun has also achieved much outside of work, with her proudest achievements being completing Associated Board of the Royal School of Music grade 5 Piano and grade 5 Theory of Music. Shaun is really proud of his quick career progression and graduating from university.


Outside of work, Shaun enjoys playing piano in his spare time, and is a huge fan of Kylie Minogue.
