Quayside Care Home, situated in the peaceful residential community of Yoker, supports older people to lead their best lives with personalised nursing and nursing dementia care.

The friendly and comfortable home offers a place for residents to relax, unwind and socialise with friends and family. This home offers lovely en-suite bedrooms, a hair salon, summer house and a wellbeing programme which helps residents to maintain their hobbies, try out new things and engage with the local community.

The catering team at Quayside understands the nutritional needs of older people and creates delicious meals to ensure a lovely dining experience for all residents and visitors. They offer a wide range of popular dining areas that provide a welcoming space to enjoy meals with fellow residents, or family and friends.

The dedicated and professional care team at Quayside likes to learn about each resident’s hobbies and interests to design a comprehensive activity programme, supporting each person to enjoy the things they love most. From building relationships with neighbours in local community groups and schools, to arranging sightseeing trips in the local area, at Quayside, the team encourages residents to take an active role in the Yoker community.

As I visit my mum on a regular basis I see both during the afternoon and at night. My mum is very well looked after by all the staff who have great patience with everyone. My mum's bedroom is always spotless and so is her personal care. There is a good variety of meals on offer and my mum has put
on some weight since being here. I would recommend this home to anyone.

I would like to thank the staff for the care given to my mum and the support offered to the family.
My mum was only in Quayside for a week but every aspect was treated with dignity. The empathy and support shown by all the staff were outstanding and will not be forgotten by her family.
Can I make
a special mention to the unit manager of Waverley House who has given us great support all week and has made it that bit easier at this sad time.

I have found the Quayside Care Home and all the staff are more than satisfactory for my brother's needs, and also I would recommend the home to anyone looking to place a relative.

I would just like to say that I am very impressed with the level of care that I've witnessed for my elderly grandmother, who is at end of life with dementia and a resident at your care home. I try to visit as often as I can and during these times I've found the staff to be extremely helpful (even when
it is evident they are busy). The nurses regularly check on my gran during my visitations and I've even been offered cups of tea! I once mentioned in passing to a nurse that even though her appetite isn't what it used to be, she still has a sweet tooth and loves jelly and ice cream. To my surprise, the next time I visited, the nurse had obviously passed on what I'd said because my gran was given jelly and ice cream. It's the little things like this that reassure me that my gran is in safe hands. The attention to detail really does make a difference and doesn't go unnoticed.

In the short time I have been associated with the care home I have found it to be of high standard, in food, care, hygiene and caring. The staff have always been very helpful, willing to listen and always ready to help with any concerns. The gardens surrounding the complex are well maintained and a
pleasure to sit in. Overall very satisfied with the care given to my Mum.

Very happy to have my mother in this care home. If I have any questions or problems I can speak to someone immediately and it is dealt with, I am kept informed of any change of my mother's health. The staff are very happy and interested in my mother's welfare. Home is spotless and free from any odours.

Overall I find services very good though at times under staffed so there could be more carers sometimes. The staff take very good care of my mother and I know although she can't express so that she likes and trusts them which to me is the most important thing. I am very happy with her care and any concerns
I have are always dealt with straight away. Also the unit has a nice atmosphere and relatives are always made very welcome.

I came here to visit a friend. When I asked for directions twice the staff were very helpful and I was shown to the room where my friend was. Then in a short time I was offered a cup of tea as well as mu friend. Not only tea but a lovely cake and a little fresh fruit!
the staff were cheery and pleasant.
So there was a good atmosphere.

I am quite happy with the care my sister gets here and it is quite handy for me to visit her as I don't have a car. I hope they keep her here as it lets us visit her.

The staff in Caledonia House are amazing, they are kind, caring and very approachable. My only observation is hat I don't see the staff sitting with the residents on the occasions I visit. They are completing care plans. I feel there should be more staff on duty. The food at times looks unappetising
but overall if I had to choose again I would still choose Caledonia.
Activities not always suitable for mum as she is deaf and blind. Feel more could be done to help her boredom and isolation.

I am a staff nurse myself working in a care home in Kirkintilloch and can compare the service my relative has received. I feel my aunt receives a good standard of care, she is comfortable, knows the staff well and is cared for to the best of the staff ability. The staff appear to be friendly and helpful
to both myself, my family and my aunt the service user.

Shaun Docherty

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?


“Delivering from the heart”


As a Registered Nurse, Shaun has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. He is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Shaun chose to work in the care sector as he has experience in firsthand, the kind care given, as an elderly relative required 24 hour care. He remembered thinking it must be a great feeling leaving a shift knowing that you have helped to achieve a positive outcome.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Shaun remarked:


“I love being able to instil positive cultures to enable to adopt a more person centre approach. Also, I like being able to chat and spend time with Residents during my walkarounds. Walking into the units and seeing Resident’s smile- this gives me the confidence that the team are getting in right”


Shaun has also achieved much outside of work, with her proudest achievements being completing Associated Board of the Royal School of Music grade 5 Piano and grade 5 Theory of Music. Shaun is really proud of his quick career progression and graduating from university.


Outside of work, Shaun enjoys playing piano in his spare time, and is a huge fan of Kylie Minogue.
