The staff from upstairs are fabulous and take care of my gran like she’s their family. Some of the entertainment team are great and my gran sometimes annoys taking part in activities. I have seen some meals that I haven’t thought looked the best but otherwise been fine. Staff have always made me feel
welcome. Communication between management and families could be improved to keep families updated with what’s happening.

I am delighted to provide a review of Whitefield Lodge, Lennoxtown. My mother moved here in October 2022. From the outset, the staff have gone above and beyond to make her transition into a care home as smooth and calm as possible. Every day, mum receives fantastic personal care, always looks clean,
well-groomed and presentable, she is closely monitored on food and fluids, has appropriate interaction and stimulation and I leave with a good feeling - knowing that she is safe. I would like to express my deepest thanks to the four ladies who always think of 'extra' treats and really excel when it comes to knowing my mum, and truly wanting the very best for her.

Without the love and support from all the staff, my mum would not be with us. They have cared and shown so much care for my mum and my family - Angels with feet.

Although I have only experienced the home for a short period of time I have found all the staff that I have encountered to be always helpful and professional in the care of my wife, they always take time to let me know how my wife has been from the previous visits. The staff have taken away any anxiety
that goes with the placing of a loved one into care and this shows through my wife's actions which suggests she has settled in well.

I was so scared of the thought of putting my grandpa into care but I am so happy I went through with it because he is the happiest he has been in a long while. I was the one caring for him and now I can get on with my day-to-day life without worrying about his safety.

I visit a lot and am close to all the staff and they always fill me in if there are any issues with how my mum is coping. I do feel that the staff do not get paid enough for the job that they do, some of the staff go over and beyond in their duties.

Staff amazing at what they do. Staff overworked, on their feet from the moment they walk through the door until they leave at the end of shift. I’m talking about all staff, from carers, handyman, gardener, cleaners and cooks. Staff need to be valued more from the management and management need more
help/support from the powers that be at Four Seasons. Management need more funding for staff, upkeep/repairs of the home, a new bus and more funding for residents' activities. More activities are needed to stimulate all residents. More interaction for residents who are in bed. It's so important that the care home holds on to the long-term members of staff as they are fantastic at what they do and they quite clearly want to be in the job. These long term carers know the needs of the residents and the residents know them which is so important as the residents need to see these familiar carer's faces on a daily basis. These carers treat the residents like they were their own mother or father and this speaks volumes.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We completely agree that valuing our team members is vital, whether they have been with us for a short or long period of time. An important aspect of this is our Making a Difference Awards where family members can nominate team members for an award. Positive feedback on the care provided is also great to share with the team and always makes everyone feel very positive. I have had a chat with you about the team directly and hope that this has put your mind at rest. I do operate an open door policy, so please feel free to come and see me if you have any other concerns.

My grandfather has resided at Whitefield Lodge since March 2021. His care and medical needs have been well catered for. The main negative is the lack of accessibility for the family to visit the care home due to current Covid restrictions. Hopefully, this is something that will improve with time.

Thank you for your comments about your recent experience at Whitefield Lodge Care Home. Our residents’ wellbeing is our main priority and it is great to hear that you were so pleased with the quality of our care. Due to restrictions placed upon us by government and local guidance to keep everyone safe during the pandemic we had to restrict visits to our home for the safety and wellbeing of our residents. We know how difficult this was for families and residents so are now delighted to be able to welcome family members back into our home for safe face-to-face visits. If there is anything more we can do to help you with your visits, please do let us know.

My Mum has settled in very well and is happy here. She says the staff are all very nice and helpful. I have found the staff friendly and helpful on my visits and with telephone enquiries. My Mum has been looked after very well and we have been able to bring a lot of her books, pictures, ornaments and
plants to make her feel at home.

My mum has been at Whitefield Lodge for a number of years and I can only thank the staff wholeheartedly, for the care they have always provided for her. During Covid, it has been difficult for everyone but the team have kept us up to date at all times, through phone calls, social media and email - all
of which I am grateful for. The staff have worked tirelessly to keep this awful virus out of the home and they have been so successful - they should be commended on this achievement as it has cost the lives of so many in other establishments. I really appreciate that there are a lot of staff who have been there for a long time, as I am aware of how difficult retention can be in this line of work. It is also good to see fresh new faces who come, but I always feel reassured when I see/hear someone I have known since the beginning of Mum's journey here. Mum has dementia, but 99% of the time is content. This has a lot to do with how well the staff know and care for her. I am grateful to all.

My Mum has been a resident of Whitefield Lodge for three years. Since the Care Inspectorate graded the home 'Unsatisfactory', in Sept 2020, the home has improved dramatically; new management, new staff, new equipment and new procedures. The majority of staff have always been very friendly, caring, supportive
and obliging (just weren't enough of them). The home was 'tired' and in need of a 'facelift' and the new furniture looks fantastic. Residents are now accessing the grounds; which seldom happened, with plans to better utilise the grounds, come better weather e.g. involving residents in planting raised flower beds, playing lawn bowls etc. The minibus will be reused for planned outings; when it is deemed safe to do so. Residents' faiths are now 'accommodated'. Regular Facebook updates now demonstrate a wide variety of activities on offer and show staff and residents' enjoyment. The staff have kept Whitefield Lodge virtually CoVid free. The home has now become a 'caring' home.

-The manager of Whitefield has been available to discuss how the staff and residents are coping with the current Covid-19 challenges. She has consistently given reassuring information regarding the testing of staff and residents plus PPE stocks. She openly explained how there had been stressful challenges
on both but described how the situation on both testing and PPE had been planned and catered for. I was told that there had been two staff who had tested positive for Covid-19, who had been immediately isolated at home. Four Seasons has a replacement staff resource group to aid for absentee staff. There are no staff transfers between Four Season care homes. I was satisfied that my mother was being well cared for.
I do have a feeling that the clinical nursing capability is somewhat well behind that of the in-between hospital, Lightburn. That is understandable in that Whitefield is not a hospital but my concern remains.
On the whole, however, I am pleased my mother is at Whitefield.

I have full confidence in the staff at Whitefield Lodge, my mother is very well looked after and at ease with all members of staff.
Although she doesn’t always partake, I have seen how much effort the activities team put into their work with the residents.
I would have no hesitation in recommending
this home to potential users.

My Mum moved to Whitefield Lodge within the last few weeks, during Covid-19. She went there from another care home she had been in for 9 weeks (a receiving assessment unit) following discharge from hospital. She was in isolation in her previous care home and had a negative test result before moving
and went into a further 14-day isolation at Whitefield. This gave us as a family confidence that they were doing everything possible to keep Whitefield residents safe.
Whitefield Lodge came highly recommended from friends that had previously had relatives living there and as we were unable to visit care homes during Covid-19 it was a relief when a bed became available there. I cannot fault Whitefield Lodge at all. The staff have been excellent. They are professional, friendly and always happy to update me. The WhatsApp calls have been great as I can speak with mum and get a sense of how she is settling in. The drive through slot was great as we got to see how happy and settled she is.

As we are almost sixty years married, my wife is most precious to me and only the best is good enough for her and I am delighted to have found this in Whitefield Lodge. Over the past five years, I have visited her almost every day and the care and attention that she receives 24/7 is first class, from
a caring and friendly staff in a "family" atmosphere who are indeed a credit to Four Seasons.

Current Review Score: 8.4 (8.410)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.4 (8.410) out of 10 for Whitefield Lodge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.7 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.702 for Whitefield Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (37 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 47 Ratings = 4.702

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.708 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Whitefield Lodge Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.333

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
