With a team devoted to enriching the lives of their residents, Forefaulds, which is rated Good by the Care Inspectorate (October 2024), is a home with a warm, family feel.

One of Forefauld's two activities coordinators recently won the Newcomer of the Year Award in the National Care Awards 2023. Together they organise so many incredible group and individual activities for the residents.

There are trips to churches they have visited all their lives and pamper sessions with nail painting, trips out shopping and to the local park, Zumba, baking, pub lunches and so much more.

The community are embraced into life in the home, with a local Girls Brigade who sing for the residents, musicians and entertainers, and regular visits from nursery children. The local church also run regular services inside the home. And there are lots of animal visits, from a therapy dog to Shetland ponies!

Forefaulds also has a hair salon, so residents can enjoy regular appointments with a mobile hairdresser, as well as a wonderful community barber who gives the gents a trim and a shave.

The residents have an active role to play in how their home is run. This summer they have been growing their own fruit and vegetables in the home’s courtyard gardens.

The home’s maintenance operative devotes time to spend with some of the gents, who like to help him on his rounds or doing a spot of painting, as they would have done in their own homes before moving to Forefaulds, giving them such a sense of purpose.

Forefaulds has welcoming lounges to relax in, and the residents enjoy delicious home-cooked food in the dining rooms, with freshly baked cakes for afternoon tea, prepared by the two chefs.

The home has just opened its own café area, a lovely place to spend time with loved ones, who are welcome at any time. This area can also be used for families to host private celebrations.

I can only thank the staff for the care of my dad since he was admitted to the care home on the 14th of November this year.
They have been great in encouraging him to take part in activities.
My overall experience is the whole team are loving and caring to the residents.

My mum moved into Forefaulds in August, and the standard of care has been excellent. The enthusiasm and kindness of the staff are remarkable. Managers lead a dedicated team of staff who have created a welcoming, caring home for residents and their visiting relatives.

It is pleasing to see that one of my best friends of more than 60 years is now being looked after by a competent team of dedicated staff there at Forefaulds. He was the Best Man at my wedding 51 years ago, and although the course of life has changed so much, it's a great relief to know that you there
are prepared to sacrifice so much of yourselves to give my friend, and his family, the re-assurance that they all need at this time in his life. I'm sure every resident there has the same care. The Care Home of Forefaulds has that professional approach which is pretty obvious as soon as one enters the building. Keep your standard flying high, and many thanks again.

I and all my family were delighted and indeed overwhelmed by the care that mum received at Forefaulds. Mum was so lovingly cared for by all of the staff. Bless you all. It must also be noted that when we often visited mum the welcome that we all received from every member of the Forefauld's staff,
over the past 3 months, was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Especially during her last days and hours when all of you facilitated our many visits and overnight vigils to be with our dear mum. It will never be forgotten.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to all of the fabulous team at Forefaulds. (nurses, caring staff, activity staff, cleaners, chefs/cooks, maintenance staff and the management team) Last but not least we would like to mention our affection for the lovely residents in this wonderful care home.

My dad was recently moved into care at Forefaulds for Alzheimer's disease. Hardest decision ever to make as a family, but honestly can't thank the staff enough for all they do. The daily updates and all the activities that are there daily, make it so much easier to leave him there, knowing that he is
being well looked after and he seems so settled already. The staff are just amazing with all of the residents.

The home in which my mother was placed due to myself no longer being able to provide her care has done and continues to do an amazing job on a one-to-one basis and seeing the smile on my mum's face when I visit is a testament to all the staff and management.

When my mum fell ill, we had no choice but to put my dad in for respite. Mum's recovery took longer than anticipated. Having never needed a care home before, we were naturally apprehensive. Our fears were put to rest immediately on arrival. The care and attention the residents are given here is second
to none. I would have no hesitation in using this home again.

My mother-in-law is a resident at Forefaulds Care Home in East Kilbride. She is very happy and settled. The staff are nothing but helpful. The residents interact daily with staff and residents participating in a number of activities. Singing, quizzes and making Easter bonnets. Getting out for a few
hours after being in locked down was a great experience for those who got to attend. Keep up the good work.

Over the last six months, I have noticed a vast improvement in all aspects of this care home. My mum's social skills and artistic side (which I never knew she had) have really improved.

It is visible that Forefaulds is trying to recruit staff in order to look after our loved ones. The home is dated but vast improvements have been made. The use of social media allows the family to keep updated on the activities within the home and gives us some reassurance that my wife is interacting
with others. (Something that was very much missing during lockdown).

This care home appears to be constantly having Covid which means I cannot visit my Mum. Now been told she has Covid which has come from a Carer! This is not acceptable and since Sanctuary has taken over the home has gone downhill and I will be posting on social media about my issues with them plus the
fact they only received three from the Care Quality Commission. They are reduced to agency nurses/carers who are not there long enough to get to know their loved ones. So to end my story they are a disgrace and I will certainly post any grievances I have ever had on social media.

Staff are very knowledgeable and attentive to the needs of the residents. I am always kept informed of any procedure changes and of any issues that may arise with my husband. Forefaulds is very comfortable, spacious and clean.

Under normal conditions, this home is well run. It is difficult to comment when I am unable to visit due to Covid. I would recommend all the staff top to bottom for their hard work and dedication and look forward to seeing them and their smiling faces.

Kirsty is a fantastic asset to our team at Forefaulds, organising a whole host of enriching and interactive activity sessions for our residents.


Kirsty is passionate about keeping our residents connected to our local community, embracing community groups into life in our home and getting our residents out and about to places they love to visit.


She spends time getting to really know our residents and what they love to do, so she can create experiences that bring them joy.


Kirsty has been such an inspiration, we nominated her for the National Care Awards for the Newcomer Award - and she was shortlisted as a finalist!
