I am generally very happy with the care of my Mother. Her room is clean, the staff are friendly and activities are excellent. Almost all staff are helpful and kind to relatives, this really helps especially when your relative first enters a care home. Communication can be an issue. I have twice attended
a relative meeting which was cancelled, but I hadn't been informed. It can be frustrating when you have a concern and have to talk to staff on different shifts. The information doesn't seem really helpful. The staff photos of those in charge would also be helpful. Some staff are absolutely fabulous. I am thankful for all they do.

Reply from Cassie Dunbar, Marketing coordinator at Ryan Meadows

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about your mother's care. We're delighted that you've been happy with the friendliness and dedication of our staff. We understand how crucial clear and consistent communication can be, and we're sorry if you've felt it hasn't always met your expectations. We'll certainly look into our processes to ensure you receive regular updates about your mother's well-being. We also appreciate your suggestion for more varied entertainment and activities, and we'll keep this in mind as we organise future programmes for our residents. Thank you again for your kind words and constructive feedback. If there's anything more we can do, please don't hesitate to let us know.

My mother has been a resident of Kingsgate Nursing Home for almost a year and a half. It has taken a long time to settle, but she seems to be enjoying it now. The staff are lovely and caring. I myself have noticed an improvement in the home due to a new member of management who is extremely motivated
and knows exactly what is required to run a care home efficiently and provide activities for the residents. It is a great relief to families to know that their loved one is being looked after. Thank you to all the staff.

My mum was taken into care direct from hospital in February during the pandemic. It was very emotional for the family and confusing and stressful for my mum. The staff were amazing my mum was very agitated and angry because she felt lost and isolated, they showed so much care and compassion for her
it helped her to settle in. Not only were they caring for my mum but they helped me and my sisters come to terms with what was happening. We could not all get in to visit because of the restrictions but they allowed us to contact them whenever we wanted and they were always there to settle us down when we were upset about not being able to visit. It is now July and with the care home being so modern we can see my mum settling via social media just how happy she is now - they have amazing fun ideas and it is lovely to see how happy everyone is. My mum's room is filled with her own furniture and familiar things she is now starting to call it home.

My mother sees this as her home and enjoys the company of other residents and staff. The activities provided are creative, interactive and allow everyone to participate in whichever way they can. All staff are hard-working and only have the best interest of their residents at heart. Without the commitment
of all the staff during this difficult time, our loved ones would not be cared for to the standard that they are. Thank you.

The care home staff are caring, friendly and have a lovely manner with my Mum. I appreciate all the hard work they are doing. They have at all times been supportive of me and made the difficult window visits much better with their friendly chats. I really enjoy seeing the Facebook posts as it keeps
me up to date with all the activities they provide. The winter 'cruise' was a source of comfort to me. I am secure in the knowledge that Mum is receiving the best possible care.

My mother stayed at Kingsgate Nursing Home from 30/9/2019 until her death 6/1/2020. During her stay, my mother and all my family; were treated with the utmost care and respect at all times. All the staff including the manager, office staff, nurses, carers and domestic staff were all extremely professional,
efficient and eager to please.
In the days leading up to and on the day my mother died, all the staff were so supportive and professional.
This is a care home is full of staff who care 100%.
Would recommend this care home to everyone - 5-star care!

My mother was a resident for 9 months and received excellent care. Everyone from the domestic staff, admin, nursing and managers took the time to learn about mum, her likes, dislikes and got to know the family that visited. It was a relief for us knowing that mum was safe, well cared for and settled
in Kingsgate, which allowed us the time to visit and spend quality time with her.

My sister aged 87 was accepted as a resident this month. I was amazed at the reception displayed by management and staff, absolutely overwhelming and very professional. I have been visiting my sister in the past week, she is so relaxed and happy, which is a great relief to me and especially her daughter,
who visits most days. She is so pleased with the level of care her mother is getting, I can only say thank you Kingsgate.

My mum recently moved from hospital into Kingsgate Care Home, which was a very anxious time for me as I had cared for her for 8 years. When I met with the Manager to view the Home, I was very impressed with how understanding she was, and immediately felt she was sincere, and tried to put me at ease.
It didn’t take long to find out that I had made the right decision for my mum’s care needs. The staff are pleasant and always chat, and gave me updates on how mum’s doing. Food looks amazing, mum’s room is lovely, always clean. Mum has even joined in on activities, she seems so relaxed and happy, which is just what I want for her. My family have all agreed that Kingsgate is perfect for mum, very pleasant decor, and am so happy now that mum seems to have settled in just fine. Thanks to all the staff.

I visited my grandfather here, I was over visiting my other family. This home compared to others I have seen is exceptional. Surprisingly fresh smelling with no stale urine smells.
For the time I was there, the staff were finishing serving lunch and not long after, appeared with tea and biscuits, my
grandfather is never hungry and has actually put weight on since going in there. The manager, who I believe is new, was extremely pleasant and was chatting to my grandfather in the foyer. All in all, I don't think my family could ask for better care for my grandfather. Thank you all at Kingsgate Nursing Home!

The review was very simple but thorough. The staff had kept us informed throughout the year on our mum's condition so the review went over these points and what the plan to care for our mum would be as her needs changed.
The staff were so knowledgeable and understanding and understood how our family
felt about having our mum in care

Current Review Score: 7.4 (7.416)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.4 (7.416) out of 10 for Ryan Meadows is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.333 for Ryan Meadows is calculated as follows: ( (4 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 4.333

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.083 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ryan Meadows is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.083

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
