Tucked away in a peaceful spot of East Kilbride, Westwood House has a warm, family feel. The team provide nursing, dementia, palliative and respite care and are devoted to enriching the lives of their residents each and every day.

Family and friends are embraced into life in the home and are welcome to visit at any time, giving them a real sense of belonging.

The south-facing gardens are glorious and a real haven for birds. With raised planters they are beautifully landscaped, with a rockery and a large seating area.

There is so much going on at Westwood House, with a wide range of engaging activities on offer, including animal visits, with Shetland ponies always going down a treat. Many of the residents enjoy baking, while others prefer reiki and reflexology sessions. And there are regular visits from a mobile hairdresser.

The team at Westwood House follow the Care about Physical Activity program (CAPA), which is led by the Care Inspectorate, so there are regular gentle exercise sessions to keep residents as active as possible.

There are some lovely areas to relax in, from the conservatory to the welcoming lounges and dining room. Residents enjoy delicious, home-cooked meals every day prepared by the home’s chef. There is everything from stews and roast dinners with all the trimmings, to a firm favourite for so many residents – fish and chip Friday. And there are home-made treats each day for dessert and afternoon tea.

The bedrooms are spacious and well decorated, offering a place for residents to relax and feel at home. Everything is provided, but residents are welcome to bring small items of furniture, ornaments and pictures, to make their bedrooms truly their own.

As well as providing nursing, dementia and palliative care, the home’s respite care breaks are perfect if you are caring for a loved one at home and need a short break yourself.

I can say that the staff have been wonderful, welcoming and supportive to families and residents. We have seen a marked improvement in our family member since he has been living at Westwood House. We cannot thank the staff enough for all they do!

Dad has been there for 5 months now, I have found all staff very supportive and keep me up to date on dad's health and wellbeing. I can relax knowing he's been well looked after. Lots of activities for the service users. Staff do a great job.

Whilst I have not been very complimentary in my ratings, I appreciate the home has been through many changes/staff turnover. I was rather disappointed during my recent visit (I live in Cornwall) to East Kilbride, I visited every day at various times for up to two hours (when I could bear the heat) and
noticed where there were gaps in care, to say the least. I have, however, since speaking to the new manager and believe her heart is to see great improvement for the residents.

Hi yes I find when I go to see my friend she is content most of the time but sometimes teary, and you are made welcome by the staff and they keep me up to date with everything that's going on. So overall happy with Westwood Hosue nursing home.

Since mum became a resident at Westwood House Care Home I can honestly say I have had nothing but amazing support from all the staff. Mum's health has improved due to being properly looked after with her every need being met and my sister, myself and my family are extremely happy with the care and attention
mum is receiving. The staff are a credit to the care home and during all the problems of the last 2 years have been brilliant and I can't thank them enough.

My wife has been residing in Westwood House Care Home since 18 November 2020 with dementia. Up until 15 March 2022, she had settled in well and was enjoying participating in the Activities sessions. Particularly those involving singing and dancing. It was obvious to me she had struck up a great rapport
with a number of the Staff. We had also been given use of the Gazebo in the garden for celebrating events like birthdays and wedding anniversaries, the latest being our 69th. The Chef provided our meals. Sadly my wife’s left foot was fractured during the early hours of 15 March. The Staff acted swiftly and escorted her to hospital where she underwent surgery. Since her return to Westwood House she has brought additional problems for the Staff to deal with. I am pleased to report the Manager is ensuring my wife is wearing the support boot provided by the NHS, and that the Staff are providing appropriate care. I wish to record my thanks to the Staff for turning up for work during Covid.

My mum has been a resident for three months now and the care is excellent. Not only do they keep me regularly updated and informed, but they are also happy to be involved in discussions about Mum's care and needs.
The nurses are so kind and supportive, they not only look after the residents but seem
to genuinely care about them.
I've seen photos from when I've not been there, where Mum has been included in activities and trips out.
The home itself seems to always be being upgraded and improved. Since I started visiting three months ago, they have been renovating residents' rooms, upgrading flooring and communal areas and ensuring their facilities are second to none.
I have to mention the food. I expected it to be similar to hospital food (mass-produced and tasteless), but I've been so impressed with their menus, food quality and access. If I've taken Mum out for the afternoon, she won't miss her dinner, as they would make something for her later, to ensure she gets a good meal. It's all just very thoughtful.

Very happy with Westwood House. My mother is treated with respect and compassion, and she has formed a bond with some of the care staff and events coordinators. I appreciate the wide range of daily activities to help stimulate my mother. Lovely to see her enjoying these on WhatsApp.

I think the staff are perfect. I phone every night and staff are always polite and keep me informed. I have no problems - my mum is well looked after and I have no concerns with Westwood House. The home manager and staff keep me updated, regarding the pandemic. My visit today was lovely.

Westwood House have worked very hard through this pandemic and have done their best for Mum. The nursing and activities team deserve a special mention for going the extra mile with regular updates and facetime contact. The manager and admin staff have always shown great compassion and understanding,
so well done all round. NB Please note I have chosen mainly good's for my ratings. This is fair as I have had very limited insight, due to Covid.

My review is from a very short period of time my mum was in care at Westwood (Oct 2020 - Jan 2021). I have not been inside the home to provide an honest review.


I appreciate COVID is very challenging for staff and management. My experience with Westwood has been overall poor given the inconsistent

information provided to myself and other family members about mums care and unfortunately valuables lost or misplaced within the home. Mum's behaviours changed completely and I felt the need to move mum to another care home to meet the needs of her care. In trying to do so there was a lack of co-operation from Westwood to other care homes enquiring about mum's needs which I felt was completely unnecessary and unjustified.


I'm sure staff are doing their best however I felt Westwood was not the best care home for mum's condition. Therefore, I moved her to another care home which is closer to the family and meets mum's care needs.

My brother has been in this care home for over a year and his room is lovely and clean. The staff are good with him and he has his personal stuff, that gives him comfort. When in normal times, I would go up at any time, to see him but, with covid, I was only getting garden visits on Sundays but they
kept us updated with news letters every month. This was good to tell us what was going on or they would phone to let me speak to my brother. If I have any questions, I ask the nurses about it. It seems to be a good home and the staff are good.
