Tucked away in a peaceful spot of East Kilbride, Westwood House has a warm, family feel. The team provide nursing, dementia, palliative and respite care and are devoted to enriching the lives of their residents each and every day.

Family and friends are embraced into life in the home and are welcome to visit at any time, giving them a real sense of belonging.

The south-facing gardens are glorious and a real haven for birds. With raised planters they are beautifully landscaped, with a rockery and a large seating area.

There is so much going on at Westwood House, with a wide range of engaging activities on offer, including animal visits, with Shetland ponies always going down a treat. Many of the residents enjoy baking, while others prefer reiki and reflexology sessions. And there are regular visits from a mobile hairdresser.

The team at Westwood House follow the Care about Physical Activity program (CAPA), which is led by the Care Inspectorate, so there are regular gentle exercise sessions to keep residents as active as possible.

There are some lovely areas to relax in, from the conservatory to the welcoming lounges and dining room. Residents enjoy delicious, home-cooked meals every day prepared by the home’s chef. There is everything from stews and roast dinners with all the trimmings, to a firm favourite for so many residents – fish and chip Friday. And there are home-made treats each day for dessert and afternoon tea.

The bedrooms are spacious and well decorated, offering a place for residents to relax and feel at home. Everything is provided, but residents are welcome to bring small items of furniture, ornaments and pictures, to make their bedrooms truly their own.

As well as providing nursing, dementia and palliative care, the home’s respite care breaks are perfect if you are caring for a loved one at home and need a short break yourself.

My mum has returned to the home after a stay in hospital. The staff have been extremely helpful and considerate towards myself and my mum. I know that she is getting the best care possible and can now look forward to seeing my mum's health improve. The manager and her nursing staff update me daily on
Mum's progress.

Westwood House has done an amazing job under the circumstances. It has been really difficult with the lack of communication and visits to our mum.
The activities co-ordinators have been amazing, as I'm sure all the staff are. They both have fantastic connexion with our mum. They just know how to lift
her spirits. What a difference in our mum, she loves happy upbeat people, and they are certainly are.
You can see the fun and laughter they have together on the video calls, it certainly puts our minds at ease that mum is happy, well cared and loved. I call every day for an update on mum; the staff are so friendly, upbeat, never a problem; they are always happy to give me an update.
Its must be very stressful for all staff at this difficult time.
As a family, we thank them for their commitment to the job!
You are all amazing.
On a personal note, the whole care home team have show our family great compassion with the loss of our dad. Thank you.

Staff really friendly and supportive through Covid-19. My uncle is always well presented and appears happy.
Staff really good at planning with any updates and keep in touch through Facetime with my relative.

It's hard to review a place when I can't get in to see my dad but from what I can tell the care seems good. My dad seems okay though. There's a little bit of confusion regarding belongings but that's what my dad says and sadly he is confused more and more.

Until recently, the care was good. My husband was clean, tidy, well-shaved etc. In the past few months, since lockdown, isolated in bedrooms and care does not seem as good. Just last week, when we saw him, (through the bedroom window) he was in a very unkempt state. Not shaved, which looked like for
a few days and don't know when his hair was last washed or brushed. He was only dressed in a t-shirt and underpants and had no trousers on. The chair he was sitting on had two hooded tops and a pair of trousers on it (clothes not being put away). I would also like you to know that an expensive electric razor went missing from his room and was never found at the end of last year. The bedrooms were left unlocked at that time and other residents were known to wander into rooms. After complaining, doors were locked when unoccupied. The manageress told us to buy another razor and we would be refunded. So far we have not managed to do that as we don't always have a spare £60.

Excellent level of individual care particularly impressed with the drum kit bought for dad by the activity coordinator as dad used to be in a band. He loves it and it has lifted his mood. Very impressed by this assessment of his needs. Dad gets a good level of support from staff as I do.

Since this is a relatively small home, it is more like 'home'. The accommodation is of a good standard although at times the common areas could do with better control of temperature e.g. air conditioning. The staff are friendly and provide excellent quality of care. All in all, my mother has improved
over the time she has spent here. I am pleased that my mother is in this home.

My mother moved into Westward House in march and has settled in extremely well. It is a very homely, caring atmosphere at all times. She enjoys the food and has put on some weight since she went in. The staff are all wonderful, very caring and nothing is too much trouble. There are lots of activities
and the lady in charge is so enthusiastic. I am very happy with the care received by my mum in Westwood House.

Ever since my father became resident at Westwood House, he was treated with the utmost dignity and care and respect. His needs were always at the forefront of the staff's thoughts and his care was excellent. All the staff I witnessed, treated every resident the same way. My father was very content at

What can I say! The new manager that has taken over is like a breath of fresh air! The home is clean and tidy, my dad is always well looked after and the activities lady always has something on the go. I can't rate the home any higher.
