Tucked away in a peaceful spot of East Kilbride, Westwood House has a warm, family feel. The team provide nursing, dementia, palliative and respite care and are devoted to enriching the lives of their residents each and every day.

Family and friends are embraced into life in the home and are welcome to visit at any time, giving them a real sense of belonging.

The south-facing gardens are glorious and a real haven for birds. With raised planters they are beautifully landscaped, with a rockery and a large seating area.

There is so much going on at Westwood House, with a wide range of engaging activities on offer, including animal visits, with Shetland ponies always going down a treat. Many of the residents enjoy baking, while others prefer reiki and reflexology sessions. And there are regular visits from a mobile hairdresser.

The team at Westwood House follow the Care about Physical Activity program (CAPA), which is led by the Care Inspectorate, so there are regular gentle exercise sessions to keep residents as active as possible.

There are some lovely areas to relax in, from the conservatory to the welcoming lounges and dining room. Residents enjoy delicious, home-cooked meals every day prepared by the home’s chef. There is everything from stews and roast dinners with all the trimmings, to a firm favourite for so many residents – fish and chip Friday. And there are home-made treats each day for dessert and afternoon tea.

The bedrooms are spacious and well decorated, offering a place for residents to relax and feel at home. Everything is provided, but residents are welcome to bring small items of furniture, ornaments and pictures, to make their bedrooms truly their own.

As well as providing nursing, dementia and palliative care, the home’s respite care breaks are perfect if you are caring for a loved one at home and need a short break yourself.

What a lovely home. The staff are kind, and always willing to help.
My friend has been in the home since the beginning of the year and is always well looked after. There is always something going on in the home.

The residents are amazing, they are so witty and always put a smile on your face. I have a great relationship with residents and family members. I give 100 per cent to enrich the lives of the residents, after all, it is all about them.
