The team at Whitehills Care Home is excellent. The manager is exceptional and her team is very good with my mother. My mother likes her room and she has breakfast, lunch and dinner. She also likes a nice cup of tea in the afternoon.
Everyone (the staff) are so good.

After Dad's death, Mum required respite care. Though it was in a very difficult time for Mum and the family. The staff at Whitehills Care Home were extremely helpful, friendly and dedicated. Mum's personal care was maintained to the highest standards, the staff supported Mum and family emotionally and
the staff's friendly, caring and approachable work ethic helped make the whole thing a bit more bearable.

My dad moved in August 2022 and immediately the staff made him and us feel comfortable. The staff are dedicated and compassionate about their jobs and go above and beyond for my dad, can't do enough for us when are at his bedside. He is well cared for, looked after and loved as if he was their own.

All staff took fantastic care of my mum and it was evident that the same care was shown to all other residents. The level of care, dignity, respect and love shown to my mum in her final days was above and beyond! It is noted that improvements to the building are ongoing after obvious restrictions due
to the pandemic.

I am happy with my mum's care in the home, especially with the caring staff in the Windsor unit. They show compassion and dignity towards my mum which is reassuring for me and the rest of the family. Also, if I need to express any concerns I have, they listen and will sort out the problem. In all, I
am happy with all staff in Windsor.

Since coming to Whitehills, the family have been very happy with how our mother has been looked after. Her room is nice, and Mum is eating better here than she did at home. We are hoping Mum will get a permanent place here at Whitehills.

My relative has been well taken care of for over five years. I am loath to say she is happy but she suffers from the effects of a brain complaint and frequent seizures. She would only be truly happy if she lived in her own home, this is impossible so she needs to live in Whitehills Care Home. The home
is around a ten-minute drive from my home, so very convenient. I am her guardian and have nursing experience, I am 100% happy with Whitehills Care Home.

Having looked at eight care homes, I chose Whitehills Care Home to move my 95-year-old mum from her previous sheltered house. The staff are so friendly, can't do enough for my mum and it has been the best move for my mum to cater for her current needs. My mum is happy and as a family, we can go and
visit and have quality time with her. I have no hesitation in recommending Whitehills as a care home for loved ones.

Since my mother has been in this home I have had several issues.
A lot of the issues have been resolved but some things could still be improved.
Lack of investment seems a big issue.
Too much chopping and changing of staff throughout the units I think. This is very unsettling for residents but also
for myself when I see a new face and wonder how long they will be there for.
Lack of communication was a big issue from the start when my mother was taken in.
The staff involved with my mother have been excellent and have bent over backward for her throughout her stay to date.
Rooms are not very well designed or thought out and are an awkward shape to reposition the furniture.
5/10 - for the actual home and facilities.
10/10 - for staff.
Would I recommend this home if asked? Truthfully ... No, sorry.

Mum was there for just over 9 years. It was, when she entered, an absolutely fabulous home.
In those 9 years there have been 7 different Managers, 2 of those were absolutely great and ran a really good home.
The home needs substantial investment in decor/equipment.
Almost no activities for the past
3 years, activities staff were used for Covid testing.
This year I had problems with the cleanliness of mum's room a few times and her mattress had to be replaced as it smelled strongly of urine.
We had a rat in her room which was in her wardrobe long enough to chew through a spare duck feather and down duvet in its plastic cover. She was too frail to move home or I would have.
The menu was very stodgy and there had been no fresh fruit for over 1 year - only tinned.
Bath not available in mum's unit as the chair was broken for the past year.
Carers were fantastic and did really care but were let down by poor leadership.
The nurse had to borrow my sister's oximeter to get a reading for NHS Dr as theirs was broken.

Mum has called Whitehills Care Home her home since 2015. The staff have become her family and they always treat her with dignity and kindness. Continuity of care has been a major factor in ensuring that Mum feels safe and loved, as her dependence on them has increased significantly over the years. There
are many staff members, who welcomed Mum to Whitehills Care Home 7+ years ago, that are still part of Mum’s day to day care today. For Mum that is a huge positive, as familiarity in a carer/resident scenario is a major factor in ensuring a sense of comfort for her. It’s a team effort and all staff - nurses, carers, laundry, kitchen, cleaning, activities, maintenance and administration are always there to support Mum and myself.

I want to say that my husband had the last 4 weeks of his life being cared for by the wonderful staff at Whitehills Care Home, their care and kindness went without bounds. They not only looked after him but the whole family.

My mother has been well cared for in the four years she has been in Whitehills Care Home. The staff on the unit are very kind, caring and hardworking and can't do enough for you. My mother is always treated with respect, very happy with the quality of care received in her unit. All staff, laundry, chef,
cleaners and office staff are very welcoming and helpful. The only criticism, I would like bedrooms painted and an upgrade on bathrooms.

As a practicing psychologist, I was disappointed in the state of my mother's mental health. She is there temporarily following a hospital operation but is uncertain as to why she is not being allowed to return home eg. staffing of care package or mobility concerns. This is causing her anxiety. There
is a lack of privacy with room doors repeatedly left open by staff such that people can peer in on their way by. When I phone the staff member hangs about to listen to the conversation. My Mum is so fed up and wants to be home. Staff vary for sure but some treat residents like children, standing over them insisting they swallow pills while watched eg. 1000mg of paracetamol four times a day when no pain is present and the pills are not really wanted; this happened in front of me. Mum does not have dementia and has been assessed capable of making her own decisions. I was surprised to find no negative reviews on this site given the newspaper reports of March/April 2020.

Unfortunately the current staffing crisis in Health and Social Care is impacting on the availability of care packages within the locality to enable individuals to return home safely from hospital, whilst Whitehills has no influence in this area we are aware of the challenges faced by the HSCP and hospital SW often have no option but to utilise care homes as interim care facilities. We appreciate the subsequent uncertainty and frustration this brings to those waiting for care in the community and we understand that the resulting anxiety and low mood can become a concern. I am pleased to hear that your mother’s pain is being managed effectively using regular analgesia following her surgery, however I am disappointed that some areas of your mother’s care and support have not met your expectation, I hope that moving forward we can work with you and your mother to review these areas of concern.
