My brother has been at Argyle House for just over a year. He has been well looked after which gives me the rest of the family peace of mind. The management team has changed since he arrived and we see an improvement in the morale of the staff which reflects on the staff. My brother is now more settled
in the home and particularly enjoys his food. He would benefit from the increased one-to-one engagement with a great amount of activities.

I came into Argyll House on Christmas day to visit my cousin for the first time since they began to stay at Argyll House. I was so very impressed with everything. The staff who answered the door were so nice and asked me if I had been to the home before and personally took me to my cousin's room. Whilst
walking to the room they asked me about my day and what I was up to after. When I went into the room I was so pleased to see how clean it was and that it smelt like a kind of coconut scent. I used to visit my mother when she was in a care home it used to be something very off-putting, this was not the case in Argyll House. I was also amazed at how well-organised my cousin's room was! Very tidy, clean and when my cousin asked me to get something out of their wardrobe it was so organised! I look forward to many more visits to Argyll House now and seeing my cousin as they are so happy now.

I came to see my uncle for the first time since the pandemic, I have lived abroad for a few years. I was so surprised to see him doing so well! Before I left to live abroad I was told by the doctors that the wound that my uncle had would never heal. I was in tears when I saw him as the staff at Argyll
had managed to heal his wound! I asked to speak with the manager to thank him for all the work they had done with my uncle and he was me within minutes of asking to see him. He told me all about Argyll and his staff I was so impressed, he even offered me a walk around the house as I had never been before. We went for a walk around the house it was so clean and smelt lovely. This experience has totally changed my mind about care homes. Before I honestly thought they were the end of the line with nothing to do or just somewhere to sit and watch the telly forever. I genuinely now will never worry about my uncle now knowing he's at Argyll House.

I have visited Argyll House for eleven years and have never needed to make detrimental comments or actions about care, staff or amenities. I have long felt that the staff are caring and thorough when dealing with my mother. The medical care given has been equal to NHS standard and when required was
prompt and attention to detail was evident. Communication between Argyll House and family is consistent. I have always found my mother to be clean in all aspects. The staff are patient and tolerant. The home is comfortable and I have no worries or concerns about her care.

I can't praise the staff enough for the care they give my uncle. I am in quite a lot and I always see the manager running about the floor which is great to see as my mother was in a home that we never saw a manager or the person that ran the place.
All the staff are really easy to talk with and I am
always welcomed and asked things like how is your day going? The staff appear to genuinely care about the people visiting and the people that they look after.
The whole home is immaculate and always smells of a slightly tropical scent which isn't an assault on the senses but just nice and soothing.
I would happily recommend Argyll House to anyone who is looking for a home that truly cares about their loved ones and wants to be able to relax in the knowledge that they're being cared for by the best people in Kilmarnock.

I am very pleased with the care that is given to my mum. All staff are pleasant and approachable if there is any concerns. I know there's always someone there to talk to. I can see when any of the staff is speaking to my mum that they care about her. It is a relief for me that my mum is safe and getting
cared for properly.

My dear mother was a resident in Argyll house from May 2018 until her passing in May 2022. She was made very welcome by all staff and soon settled in. Her care was of a high standard throughout her time there.

My mother has been in the great care and support from all staff from Argyll House Nursing Home. She has settled in and has high praise for the staff for what they do for her.
Although in bed most days they still spend one to one time with her, chatting and having a laugh.

My brother was cared for by the amazing people at Argyll House. My brother had a poor few years, but when he came into Argyll House, he was like a new man after the staff worked their magic! The people at Argyll were always happy and welcoming when we came to visit. Our dog was always welcome when we
came in also. We would call Argyll the mostly homely care home we have ever been in, and we are so glad they cared for my brother before he passed.

No praise is too high for the wonderful care my husband received from all levels of staff at Argyll House. He was a resident for only two weeks before he passed away. I and my family were also very well looked after. We were allowed to visit anytime, provided we had taken a Covid test, and this was
so much appreciated, especially in the last few days of my husband's life. On the first occasion, we visited Argyll House, we were very impressed by the obvious capabilities of the person who showed us around, and we felt immediately that my husband would do well there, but sadly it was not to be.

Current Review Score: 7.8 (7.813)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.8 (7.813) out of 10 for Argyll House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.375 for Argyll House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (12 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 4.375

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.438 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Argyll House Nursing Home is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 registered maximum number of service users is 6.4. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 6.4 = 0.313

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
