My mum moved into Hallhouse Care Home in July, she has always been very much against care homes, however realistically understood she needed additional help. Well she loved it from day 1. She was made very welcome. She loved the attention she received. They organised games days and pampering days. Sadly
she took a fall and passed away as a daughter the staff were absolutely amazing. I would like to thank them all for the love and care they gave. Would recommend 100%.

It is very hard to make a comment at the minute as we are not getting into the home for visits but the last couple of times my sister or I have been in to see our father he has been a bit untidy with dirty clothes on. Also, on my last visit he came out to see me with food still in his mouth from his
last meal as this was 15.30 how long had that been there. This is not acceptable.

Due to the current pandemic, I have not been able to visit my mother since she went into the home so it is difficult to judge the standard of the home. However, my mother seems to be happy enough and the staff are always very helpful when I phone. I was disappointed recently when a Mother's Day gift
that I sent was not given to my mother on the day. I have subsequently spoken with the manager regarding this issue.
Because I have not been inside the home then I can only put 'satisfactory' to some of the categories below.

Mum has been in Hallhouse for over six years, first in the lodge then over to the nursing side, as a family we have been completely satisfied with her care. At one point there was an issue with her clothing but was quickly resolved. The staff are all extremely approachable and easy to talk to. As my
mum has deteriorated over the years her needs have obviously changed and the home is quick to recognise this. Thank you to all for caring for my mum.

My mother was in respite care in Hallhouse Care Home for only 26 days. She, unfortunately, passed away at the end of her stay, but the care she received leading up to her death was exemplary. The staff - all staff - couldn't do enough for her to make her comfortable. They seemed to really care and understand
the essence of my mother. The nursing care was just first class. My mother never suffered and I feel that, as a former nurse myself, that it was the outstanding care she received which enabled her to have a painful, peaceful death.

I visited for the summer fare back in June. It was a lovely day and the staff were very helpful. The residents and visitors had a great time and the sun was shining.
I was also lucky enough to have a show round the home, which looked spotlessly clean.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.504)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.504) out of 10 for Hallhouse Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.853 for Hallhouse Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (81 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 95 Ratings = 4.853

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.651 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hallhouse Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 47 registered maximum number of service users is 9.4. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.4 = 0.851

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
