My dad, who passed away in May, was in Crosshouse Hospital for a number of weeks after falling at home. He was then taken into Hallhouse for a short time and was looked after by wonderful nurses and carers at Hallhouse. It's hard to choose a Nursing Home for your loved ones but I had the opportunity
to see how residents are looked after at Hallhouse and how they also looked after me too! Thank you to all the wonderful staff including the Manager who made me feel that my dad was safe and looked after.

My grandparents attended respite for a week. They had a wonderful time, the staff were really friendly and helpful.
The staff had a lot of time for my gran and granddad and made them feel very welcome, always had time to sit and have a wee chat with them.
The manager was wonderful with them, they
were really worried about going in for respite but the manager put their mind at ease and made regular contact with family and themselves to see how they were settling in and if she could do anything to help the family.
They loved the activity's that the home provided. They enjoyed sitting in the conservatory reading their daily papers. They felt at home and when family visited, they looked really happy. Grandad was really happy with the food. He loved every meal he received. My gran isn't a big eater but she loved the fact you got wee snacks in between meals as she didn't eat much at meal times. Couldn't thank the staff enough, wonderful place to be.

The atmosphere on Christmas Day at Hallhouse was one filled with laughter and joy- exactly as you would wish it to be! Staff and residents and their families mingled and the lounge was noisy, chaotic and fun. The arrival of Santa (heralded by the ringing of a very loud bell) added to the mix and each
of the residents received a very large red "sack" full of parcels to open. Drinks and snacks were available for everyone to enjoy and I would like to thank all the staff involved for making the day such a lovely one. It is very much appreciated.

The manager of the home visited my home address before I went in to gather relevant information. On the morning I arrived a little early and the room was still being cleaned but I was looked after well and introduced to some members of staff and shown around the whole place and then taken to my room.
It was spotless. They tested the alarm whilst I was there and I was very impressed that I was safe and the procedure was explained to me before it took place.

I was unsure what to expect from a care home when I began looking around for my father who suffered a bad stroke and also has Parkinsons. I chose Hallhouse Care Home mainly due to the location to be honest and I have been delighted with the care given to my dad. The staff work tirelessly to care for
the residents and are always upbeat and full of humour and treated with dignity.

There are lots of activities arranged for residents in the home and as day trips. Rooms are a good size as are communal areas. A refurbishment has commenced which looks promising as the old decor was dark and dated and it is already looking brighter and more modern.

My only areas for improvement would be the menu - slightly healthier would be nice - and for the residents to be taken outside into the garden area when it is mild and dry. My father only goes outside when I have taken him and not only does he enjoy it but he gets some much-needed Vitamin D.

Overall I am very happy with Hallhouse and so is my father.

If you have to be in a care home, then Hallhouse Care Home is a very pleasant place to be. Management is very efficient. The atmosphere is good and mostly peaceful! The surroundings are lovely and the gardens well kept. My mother who has been here for 3 years and has dementia, believes she is in a hotel,
which is great!

I find my mothers care to be excellent. Nursing, caring, laundry and domestic staff couldn't be more helpful and attentive. Any concerns at mum's health deterioration are dealt with promptly and considerately to her one to one needs. We as a family are very happy with mum's care. My mum mentally is
very alert and is capable of voicing her own opinions. As long as she is happy here then so are we. Can't praise the staff enough for the personal loving care they give. My mum has been in this home since October 2014.

My mother was admitted to Hallhouse just over 2 weeks ago. I visited today for the first time since admission because we all felt it was best our mother settled, becoming familiar with the team, environment and communal living.

The senior carers have been great at contacting me also has the Manager

with general updates during the first 2 weeks. I just thought I had to inform you of the fantastic job the whole team have done in the very short time as my mother is so settled, contented, immaculately dressed and feels safe. It is such a relief for my brothers and me as it has been an extremely challenging time over the last few months to keep her safe and cared for at home.

The maintenance man 'worked his socks off' to decorate her bedroom again within a very tight time frame. Also the housekeeping team to label the clothes, arrange the furniture and the cleanliness of the bedroom.

I cannot thank the Manager and her team enough, truly all live and breathe the values.

One very happy relative!!!

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.504)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.504) out of 10 for Hallhouse Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.853 for Hallhouse Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (81 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 95 Ratings = 4.853

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.651 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hallhouse Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 47 registered maximum number of service users is 9.4. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.4 = 0.851

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
