Mum was 92 when I had to eventually look for a care home for Mum, it was always Mum saying 'I don’t need any help my daughters there!' So when the illness took this out of my hands I was informed by the mental health team and social work that Dalmellington Care Home was the best place for Mum as I could
no longer handle her dementia, and was lucky enough that a place had come up and she went in on the 18th August last year - and very reluctantly I would say. It wouldn’t have been an easy time for the nurses etc as I believe she was too independent for her own good but she was safe there and that was the main thing. They have great facilities for the residents that are well enough to enjoy the home - as the resident activity people keep them well entertained with live music events, animal visits and generally keeping them all active. The food is lovely and the rooms are clean and Mum's end of life care couldn’t have worked out any better for her and for the family.

Visitors were brought tea and cake/biscuits. Entertainment two to three times a week.
