Arran View is located in Saltcoats, a charming seaside town in North Ayrshire. Arran View branches into four individual units that cater to meet the needs of individuals with varying backgrounds and diagnosis.

The home has four individual units catering for residents in need of nursing care, dementia care and younger adults with varied diagnosis including mental health and learning disabilities. Residents can stay on a long-term or short-term basis; any views to assess for long-term care can absolutely be considered. And, although each unit holds its own identity, they all come together to form the warm and welcoming community that is Arran View

The Whiting and Sannox units cater to older adults. The team offer 24 hour nursing care to ensure that your loved ones receive all the nursing, specialist care and support they require.

Arran View has also gone through extensive modernisation and development with the addition of two newly registered Young Persons Units, Brodick and Lamlash. These offer modern living to younger adults that require 24 hour care, however still promoting the independence and development of skills that will enable them to live life to the full and reach their own full potential.

Being in close proximity to local amenities and the town centre, there is plenty to do and residents are encouraged to make trips out with the Activities team, adapting to all age ranges to provide stimulating activities daily.

My mother has been a resident at Arran View for two and a half years. I have been delighted with the care my mother has received. The staff at Arran View are second to none. I have a great deal of experience of care homes and have never come across such caring staff. This includes the managers of the
units, the carers, domestic staff, entertainment staff, handy man and gardeners. I am pleased to say that all genuinely care about their residents. There is a lot of fun and laughter and there is absolutely no sense of doom and gloom. A lovely care home.

My mum has been in Arran View since 2008. She has been very happy and well looked after. There were a good number of carers and they were always ready to talk to us and the residents and were cheerful. This we feel has changed. There are less carers and if they are not attending to residents who are
bedridden or needing change their noses are in bookwork. We have been in the place recently when there are no carers for 10 minutes. My mum is 91 years old and not steady on her feet as are other residents, if they feel no one is there this has to be addressed. That aside sisters and I are happy with Arran View.

Current Review Score: 8.0 (7.952)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.0 (7.952) out of 10 for Arran View Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.2 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.750 for Arran View Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (18 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 4.75

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.202 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Arran View Care Home is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 130 registered maximum number of service users is 26. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 26 = 0.077

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
