Spiers Care Home is ideally situated to support a satisfying retirement for those with care needs, being a purpose-built facility itself, while being part of a vibrant community and close to many community venues.

Residents can socialise in pleasant lounge areas and the home has landscaped gardens, patios and courtyard spaces. Regular musical entertainment is a popular part of the calendar.

A healthy environment is enhanced by a positive atmosphere and the local community is invited to join in with the annual fete.

Overall the home feels safe and warm. There is no institutional feel either in facilities or in atmosphere (the cabbage effect)
My parents have been in Spiers Care Home for two years and have chosen not to mix with other residents. The staff have worked tirelessly to integrate them to no avail.
Staff
enthusiasm is excellent.
Local team have had residents meetings about the food choice etc. No need to repeat here.

Many thanks for your review, I will pass on your lovely comments to the Team at Spiers, I am sure they will be very well received. Taking on board your point on the food, we will work with the Team at Spiers to establish how we can improve your parents' experience. Regards Helen.

Always find my relative well cared for and always well groomed and pleased with her care. Enjoys her regular visit from the hairdresser. Also enjoys musical evenings and games of bingo. The home has specially adapted the bingo board and numbers for her as she has poor sight and she also has the assistance
of a carer when she plays. The carers are very prompt at notifying me of any change in her condition.

On behalf of the residents family we wish to record the complete satisfaction with the service provision she is receiving from management and staff at Spiers Care Home. The care home itself in terms of design, construction and layout perfectly suit the need for residents to feel they are in a small
supportive homely environment. The staff always impress with the care they display and their overall efficient and effective work.

Current Review Score: 8.4 (8.400)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.4 (8.400) out of 10 for Spiers Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.8 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.581 for Spiers Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (26 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 43 Ratings = 4.581

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.819 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Spiers Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 9 = 0.444

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
