Sitting on the Prestwick Promenade, overlooking the beach, Queens is in a stunning location. The team provide residential, nursing, dementia and palliative care, as well as respite care breaks, which are ideal for family carers, who would like to plan a short break themselves.

The home is thriving with so much to do, from live music, therapy dog visits and cocktail making, to walks along the beach and pamper sessions, with manicures and hand massages.

The local community is embraced into life at Queens, with visits from musicians, singers and local school children. The residents enjoy rickshaw rides with Cycling Without Age Prestwick, and visits from members of the over 60s club.

The team organise so many trips out, keeping those community connections alive – from dances and panto performances to shopping. And there are visits to Sanctuary Care’s nearby home in Ayr, to enjoy their memory café and spend time with the residents.

Mealtimes are a real highlight of the day, with the home’s talented chef crowned Best Performing Chef for the entire region at Sanctuary Care’s annual Chefs’ Conference (2023). Residents enjoy delicious, home cooked meals, and freshly baked cakes for afternoon tea.

Inside the home there are welcoming lounges, including the Arran Lounge, with bay windows overlooking the seafront. Many of the bedrooms, as well as the front garden overlook the beach, with residents often sitting and watching the sunset.

The sun terrace is also a lovely place to relax with loved ones, who are welcome at any time. The home also has a private family and friends Facebook group, so relatives can see what the residents have been enjoying doing, even if they can’t be there in person.

Mum went into the Queens for 4 weeks of respite and we cannot fault the facility or staff as it was spotlessly clean and all the staff were very friendly, and caring and had time for my mum and other residents. We made numerous visits and were made welcome even sitting whilst some of the many activities
were taking place. If mum needed full-time care in the future, our first choice will definitely be the Queen Care Home.
Thanks for everything you did to make mum feel welcomed and at ease.

Dad moved in a week ago after a nine-week stay in hospital following multiple strokes causing acute confusion and memory impairment. Visiting from London after Dad has been in Queens Care Home one week, I am now returning home happy and reassured. Honestly feel as if I’ve acquired a new family of sisters
and brothers who are looking after my dad as if he is theirs. After such a short time with them, all the staff know him well as a person and could chat with me about Dad as if they’d known him years. Nothing is too much trouble. Dad is happy, eating well and stronger on his feet than he has been for months, most likely due to the excellent care and nutrition he is receiving. As a retired GP of 25 years, I have experienced many care homes over my years. Some are not great, many are good. Few are excellent. Queens has to be the most excellent I’ve come across and I can’t quite believe how lucky we have been that they had a vacancy just when we needed it.

My Dad became a resident at Queens Care Home Prestwick in July. Since this time, I have been extremely pleased to see the care and attention all the staff have given my father. All the staff have done everything they could to help him settle as quickly as possible.

My mother caught Covid and ticked all the boxes for not surviving it. But she pulled through with the care and attention from the Queens Care Home staff. They are friendly and attentive to my mum's needs. Wouldn't want her to be anywhere else - she certainly keeps the staff on their toes!

As always, I find the staff professional, approachable and caring. During the COVID outbreak, staff encouraged Mum to speak to us frequently via Skype and FaceTime.
When Mum developed signs of the COVID infection, staff acted quickly, kept her safe and gave us frequent health updates.
I feel I have
been involved and well informed throughout her stay ay Queens.

The care and dedication of the staff at Queens Care Home is outstanding. They treat their patients like family members and not just a job. Both my parents had been there over five years until my father sadly passed away in January 2020. My mother's needs are all met.

The staff are always friendly and helpful. My mother in law quite likes it here. She came in for respite but will now be staying on. She likes the fact we can visit at any time and sit down to afternoon tea with the family. The bedroom is a little small but it is nice and clean.

My father has been in Queens now for the past couple of years. All the staff are great with my father, there is just not enough of them. As a carer myself I can see the love and attention all the residents get. Keep up the good work.

My relative has been in Queens Nursing Home for 4 years now. It has changed hands 3 times since she came in. Although the staff are caring and dedicated, I do feel the standards of care has gone down since my relative moved in there.
