Northlands Nursing Home is privately owned and managed by an experienced management team specialising in the care of older people and dementia care.

Northlands Manor is a beautiful traditional building with 22 bedrooms all with en suites. The Lodge is a purpose-built unit with 27 en-suite bedrooms which specialises in dementia care and has a dementia-friendly garden where residents have access to the outdoors.

Northlands is set in extensive and beautiful grounds with formal and informal gardens and residents can enjoy lovely views from most of the rooms. There is easy access to the Blairgowrie and bus services run within walking distance.

Each bedroom is fully furnished to a high standard and is equipped with a call-bell system, TV point, easily accessible light switches and plug sockets.

There are also a number of assisted bathrooms/shower rooms.

When a resident moves into Northlands they are encouraged to personalise their rooms as much as possible, even down to a choice of wallpaper where chosen and personal furniture is welcome.

The chef and team are committed to providing interesting and nutritious meals. They always offer a wide choice of dishes and the menus are reviewed regularly and can cater for personal favourites as well as a specialist modified diet where needed. All food is ordered twice weekly which allows flexibility.

A highly dedicated, qualified and experienced team, consisting of the manager and staff, ensures that each person is given person-centred care around the clock.

Residents are treated with kindness and understanding and are encouraged to lead as full and independent a life as possible. Individual cultural and religious needs are respected.

Social and meaningful activities are organised for residents, and they are at liberty to participate in these or not; regular outings and entertainment are also regularly arranged.

Northlands Care Home is a beautiful old house set in lovely gardens. The Home has a warm and welcoming atmosphere and is clean and well managed. The food is homemade and delicious. There are activities and entertainment for the residents to which family and friends are encouraged to join in. Mum has
been there since November last year and is content. All the staff are amazing, the admin staff are friendly and efficient and nothing is too much trouble. I cannot praise the nurses and carers highly enough - they treat mum professionally with care, compassion and respect.

My Mum has been in Northlands care home since June 2021. We as a family have nothing but praise for all the dedicated staff, a great team very well managed. Always greeted by friendly staff when visiting and nothing is ever too much trouble. Staff always have time to answer any questions we may have.
Mum enjoys the excellent choice in foods and delicious home baking. Great variety of activities and entertainment. Always kept up to date with Mum’s care and day-to-day living. A beautiful home, well maintained and with a high standard of cleanliness. Peaceful, well kept gardens to enjoy, with plenty of seating areas. We always come away with peace of mind knowing how well cared for and safe our Mum is.

My husband has been in Northlands since January, and having someone in a home is a whole different experience. We all have notions of what a home is, and what it should be, but the reality with a dementia unit, in particular, is difficult. Into this demanding disease come the staff, and they are exceptional.
Starting from the top, with the manager, the admin staff, the nurses, carers, cleaners, kitchen staff and the maintenance guys, it’s a trickle of good people. They are there to look after me and my husband, and whatever you ask for, then nothing is too much trouble. The food is good and fresh, there are activities and a wonderful Co-ordinator who is open to suggestions. Cannot praise this home enough.

My mother in law settled in well right away and is very well cared for. The home is well maintained and beautifully decorated, with the original features of the house retained. This contributes to a lovely atmosphere. All staff, including carers, admin, gardeners, etc are very kind, caring and welcoming
and it is obvious that they have taken the time to get to know mum, and her likes and dislikes. We recently joined mum for lunch and were warmly welcomed into the dining room. It was delicious and plentiful, so 10 out of 10 to the chef.


On most visits, we sit in the sunroom or the little 'cafe area' beside the small kitchen where we can help ourselves to tea, coffee and biscuits. It really is a home from home. There is always staff on hand to help or answer questions and nothing seems to be any bother to them, although they are always busy. The manager is often a visible presence and takes the time to talk to visitors and residents. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Northlands Care Home.

Having had quite a ‘journey’ with my mum in a care home in Glasgow then her time in a psychiatric hospital, my mum and myself have been welcomed into the ‘family’ at Northlands. From the initial telephone call with the manager, the care and knowledge the staff have has been second to none. Being only
68, very mobile, and ‘on the go’, they use their expertise and patience in caring for mum in the best way possible. They embrace the aspects of life that were important to her. All the staff always appear to be doing their best, know the residents incredibly well and treat them as individuals with respect and dignity. The door is ‘always open’ and they have been a huge support to me too. I feel very comfortable asking anything I am worried about and they communicate to me any changes to mum’s care, medications, etc. The manager has a wealth of experience and her exceptionally high standards filter down throughout her dedicated and hard-working team.

From our first contact with the Northlands Care Home manager, my sister and I were very impressed. Very open and informative, given a tour of the EMI unit, shown my aunt's room. Environment is immaculate and tastefully furnished and very welcoming. Our standards and expectations were met as both were
previous NHS nurses and only accept quality care. Since her stay in Northlands, we have found the staff to be professional and very caring towards my aunt. We are updated on her care we have no concerns that we are leaving her care to an attentive team. The attention to detail is evident from her care to her nutrition and her clothing is immaculately laundered. All the Northlands team are always approachable and available, admin staff often meet and greet and make the experience very personable. A true sense of positive leadership shines through our aunt's care and gives my sister and I peace of mind.

Northlands is a benchmark for excellence in care for people with dementia, in my view.
Our dad, an intelligent, kind and polite gentleman of 90 years young has been welcomed into Northlands. He is shown dignity, respect and cared for with kindness, and consideration, especially important as Dad can't
remember to do the things he used to.
He is being looked after so well it puts our minds at rest. Dad is so much happier and more settled at Northlands than he has been during the journey through two good NHS hospitals, two L.A. social work teams and two quite different residential care homes, since becoming acutely unwell in April. Northlands is the kindest, most caring and supportive home for Dad. I think the manager's dedicated team of carers, nurses, handymen, cooks and administrators are all lovely and they go the extra mile. Thank you.

My brother has always had good care at this care home. The staff are always tentative to his needs and provide a high level of care. If there are any issues or concerns with my brother they always contact me. I feel lucky to have him in Northlands as I never need to worry about him there. They have
many activities for him to take part in to keep his mind stimulated. He especially loves the music they provide. The moment I walk into the building the staff welcome me and make me feel at home.

We were so lucky to get a place in this wonderful care home for our mother, the care provided is what you would want for your family member. All staff are excellent, friendly and always willing to answer any questions you may have. Cleanliness is outstanding. The manager is always available to talk

My wife (67) is relatively young but unfortunately suffers from a rare form of dementia that strikes at a younger age. Regrettably, she had to go into full-time care some 18 months ago and was initially admitted to Northlands Care Home for respite. It was only after seeing both the Home and the care
shown by all members of staff, to all residents, did we decide that this would be the best place for my wife. The care, dignity and respect shown to my wife at all times, is beyond reproach, and if I have any issues or seek clarification regarding anything to do with my wife, it is immediately answered by either the Nurse in Charge or a senior member of staff. The Home Manager will always make herself available, if so desired, to have a chat and discuss the wellbeing and care of your loved one. I cannot praise highly enough each, and every, member of staff for the care and compassion shown to all residents at all times.

The care provided to my mother is beyond what I thought capable in a home with so many residents. From the cooks and cleaner to the nurses, carers, managers and handymen. It is not just for show while visits are present, it is constant care and attention. This is how every elderly person should be cared

Amazing care provided by all staff members. My mother has been in Northlands for nearly two years and has declined over that time with dementia and Alzheimer's until she died on 8 Dec aged 93. During her time there, everyone at the home could not have been more caring and attentive. At the end, my mother died peacefully and with dignity, a final
tribute to the outstanding care she received throughout her stay there.

For the 2 and a half years that my mother resided in Northlands her care was of a very high standard. My wife and I witnessed at first hand the warmth and kindness shown to my mother and she was always treated with dignity. Throughout her final illness, the staff ensured that she was comfortable and
pain-free. My wife and I were both treated with the same respect and kindness. We felt involved in her care. In each and every discipline of the staff the above applied i.e ALL STAFF!

Our brother was in your home for almost 4 years. We, his Brothers and Sisters were mostly living in Southern England, although we are all from the Meigle/ Blairgowrie area. Our Brother was still living in Blairgowrie when it was decided he required 24/7 care after a series of small strokes. We were
lucky enough to find a place for him in Northlands. What a lucky find that was, because no doubt in our minds that our Brother had first-class care and was so well cared for in a compassionate sense, also, we always felt that he was so happy there. Over those years we called in unannounced most times whenever we came north and it was clear our Brother's personal care was of the highest standard. And we would like to say to all the lovely, cheerful and caring Staff a Huge Thank You for everything you did for what you did in the care of our Dear Brother, Thank You All Very Much.

Northlands Nursing Home has a lovely atmosphere which feels like a family home. We were invited to personalise my mother's room on her admission there in 2017. As a family, we did this and appreciated such an invitation.
The members of the care staff were always attentive to my mother's needs. The
staff complement has been very stable during the time of my mother's admission eighteen months ago and it has been a privilege to deal with a familiar face and voice when dealing with Northlands staff.

Job Title: Manager

As the manager here at Northlands, I have the responsibility to ensure that our care and support is as best as it can be. I believe that as care staff we learn every day and each day is an opportunity to improve and strive for excellence in our care & support for our residents.


I have been nursing all of my life and I continue to enjoy my work every day. I have experience in both the NHS, and in the independent sector specialising in Dementia and Elderly Care. My knowledge and practical experience led to me becoming the Head of Learning & Development at the Dementia Centre (DSDC) University of Stirling working across the UK and Internationally. I have won awards for my achievements culminating in the Mental Health Nurse of the Year Award in 2013 from The Royal College of Nursing.
