What can I say about Dunanney other than I love everything about it. My dad went there in October 2020. I didn't know what to expect but from day one they were fantastic. The staff go above and beyond. They not only made Dad welcome but our family too. The things they do for residents - crafts, entertainment,
ice cream van and many more things. We have gained many friends from Dunanney and I cannot recommend it highly enough. If, like me, you are worried about your loved one going into a home don't be. I tell people about how good it is.

It is difficult to make a proper review when I am only visiting for one hour a week.
On the whole, I think my aunt is well cared for and is happy.
I do think one or two pictures on the wall would brighten her room up, maybe this is not permitted due to hygiene regulations! However, would stimulate
memory and thus promote discussion.

Thank you for your review. We would be delighted to accommodate any pictures which are important to your loved one. Please make arrangements with the home administrator to deliver these and we will ensure that these are hung in your aunt's room at your next visit. Additionally, please liaise with the home manager to maximise the visiting opportunities available within the current guidelines.

We, as a family, are generally pleased with the care that our aunt is receiving. We would like to be kept more informed hen she is ill, we also understand that the staff are busy. The administrator and the activities therapist are especially good and go out of their way to be helpful.

The care home is very well staffed and clean. The residents, especially my father, are well looked after and he's very comfortable. Nothing is too much for the staff, especially two in particular who are always very helpful.

My father has been a resident of Dunanney Care Home for almost 7 years now, and I have to say it is a lovely wee place. The staff are very friendly and caring towards my dad's needs and nothing is too much trouble for them. They also keep me well informed by telephone and mail if there is anything they
feel I should know about my dad's care and wellbeing. This is an excellent choice of care home for anyone who cannot give a loved one the constant care that they need. Highly recommended.

The staff were all very kind and helpful. I was always kept informed about my dad's progress and any other situations, nothing was too much trouble for them. All the staff seemed to have a good bond with my dad which helped my mum and myself during the lockdown periods, as we knew dad was well cared
for especially during his last days. All the staff were brilliant!

My aunt has dementia. She was wandering the streets sometimes in her pyjamas. She had no sense of time (day or night), she would forget to wash or eat. She was a danger to herself. Since moving to the care home she is safe, clean, well-fed and medication taken care of. The staff are patient, caring,
considerate and gentle. I highly recommend this 'home' because that's what it is!

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.316)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.316) out of 10 for Dunanney Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.516 for Dunanney Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (53 Excellents x 5) + (38 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 95 Ratings = 4.516

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Dunanney Care Centre is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
