My Mother spent the last three and a half years of her life as a resident of Kintullough. She was treated with respect and dignity by both carers and nursing staff. Over time she formed very close bonds with many of the staff, which was lovely. The manager always addressed any small concerns I had,
and I always felt assured that Mum was in safe and caring hands.
The care home itself is immaculate and has good facilities both inside and out. My Mum and I spent two happy summers enjoying the gardens and sunshine, creating memories I will always remember fondly.

Kintullagh is a lovely place. The home is absolutely spotless, the food is beautiful, and he is always well-presented. As a family, we have no complaints. We could not ask for a better care home. We have 100% trust in the staff and the manager of Kintullagh. My father is so happy, content and loved
- just as he was at home.

I honestly feel that I could not have found a better nursing home for my dad, he is treated with respect and dignity. Care is of the highest standard from all the staff (they are all amazing) and go above and beyond for my dad. It really is a home-from-home. Dad loves all the staff. They are always
friendly and cheerful and honestly couldn't do enough for him and his needs. The home is immaculate. The manager is the loveliest lady and has made many changes for the better, I can't thank everyone enough. They are all amazing.

Our mum spent 3 years in Kintullagh. During the current manager's time, absolutely no discussed issues were ever addressed. The standard of some food was only fit for a dog and not even warm enough. In her early days there, we found her with a newspaper as a bib! She was rarely in a position to assist
her in managing her meals. Never in a comfortable position when sitting. Other issues _ buzzer left on the table in the middle of the floor, never had a bath, dirty nails, other residents' nighties, belongings missing, some staff spending work time in an office on their phones, feet on the windowsill! The two most serious incidents resulted in broken bones and plaster casts on her left leg and right after an even more serious injury. The current serious incident has been totally disregarded by Kintullagh and Kathryn Homes. She is now in a fantastic place and the change in her demeanour demonstrates how they couldn’t care less attitude in Kintullagh had actually impacted our mum.

Moving my mom to Kintullagh from another care home has been an absolute blessing in disguise.
Kintullagh offers a home-from-home experience not only to the residents but to us as a family. The atmosphere is very friendly, homely, and welcoming from all levels of staff.
The nursing care is exceptional
and they go above and beyond for my mom to cater to the individual details of Mom's likes, dislikes, and needs. They listen and take heed of our input as a family as her advocate to integrate her care needs so that we feel part of that process.
There were several key indicators that confirmed that Kintullagh delivers great care in that within weeks Mom's mood lifted considerably, she was remembering people's names, they gave her back her dignity by actually putting her on the toilet as she is immobile, and she started eating again and steadily gained weight.
I would highly recommend this care home and I want to thank everyone for all the love and attention you give to my mom.

As a care partner, I visited my husband daily and was seriously concerned that his safety and welfare were compromised by staff shortages. However after I had raised this matter with senior management I was treated with disrespect, ignored or obstructed.
Also, I witnessed incidents of neglect, totally
unacceptable standards of care and very little compassion, particularly in my husband's final days. For example; failure to change wet bedding; making my very distressed husband wait 25 minutes to be toileted, despite my 3 requests to 2 carers who were sitting chatting with other residents; a nurse roughly pulling off his socks, throwing them on the floor and not replacing them; misleading advice from a nurse resulting in me not being present at his passing; no acknowledgement by management of his death. These experiences greatly contributed to our very high levels of stress and anxiety. Consequently, I deeply regret having my husband entrusted to the so-called "care" of this home.

My mum has been in Kintullagh House since October 2022 and all I can say is that my mum's care is of the highest standard. Every staff member in the home deserves an absolute medal. I would 100% recommend Kintullagh to anyone looking a loving home for their loved one.

Mum has been a resident at Kintulllagh House since the start of January. The first time I entered Kintullagh was when me and my family was viewing the home, the home had such a good feeling to it. We were shown around the home by the manager who is a lovely lady, so welcoming and pleasant to chat with.
The bedroom shown to us was well presented, clean and had such a fresh smell to it by the end of our visit we as a family knew that Kintullagh was the place for my mother to live. Even now, in the month of March, my opinion of the home, staff or management has not changed, They are all absolutely fantastic!

I visit Kintullagh House every day, twice a day. I can not recommend this care home enough. The care and compassion the care assistants show towards my mother is outstanding. The management hold a tight ship of the house and are always there if needed. My mother loves attending breakfast club on Tuesdays
and Friday mornings. The overall cleanliness of the home is a 10/10. My mother is always well presented, she always looks fresh, her clothes is always spotless. She enjoys mealtimes along with the tea trolleys throughout the day. I can not thank the staff enough for what they do on a daily basis. I know leaving the home my mother is in safe hands and well looked after.

I can only give one star. Management was never available when we needed to speak with them and my mum who was admitted there to rehabilitate from a double fractured pelvis had 2 falls within 8 days of being there. Also, she was left untoileted for 27 hours, the nurse told us she didn't want to go to
the toilet!
On another occasion, my mum who is doubly incontinent was left for 25 minutes after we told them she needed to use the toilet.
We also witnessed the residents being left sitting in the dayroom in the dark all day with a telly on very loud. No mental stimulation whatsoever!
I wouldn't leave my dog there let alone a loved family member!

On first entering Kintullagh House to visit my brother-in-law I was greeted by a very friendly and helpful member of staff. My brother-in-law has settled in very quickly and was given the best of care. Visiting daily since August, I have witnessed the same excellent care given to all the residents and
I have nothing but praise and admiration for all the staff. I would highly recommend Kintullagh House to those who are seeking to find a warm, caring, loving and friendly home for any family member.

We needed to find a suitable 24-hour care provider for our aunt after she was discharged from hospital. She was sent to another large nursing home in local area for two weeks of respite and it was a horrible experience for her and wanted out of it asap.
We visited 3 other nursing homes in the area
and were quickly drawn to Kintullagh.
We spoke with the manager and quickly decided that it was the home we wanted for our aunt.
She was in a total of four months until she passed away. The carers are all so friendly and more than helpful to do anything to keep the service user happy and comfortable. The day our aunt passed away they were all so helpful and caring to us.
I know covid is still about, but they do so much to keep everyone protected. And all our family could pop in and out at a time suitable to us which our aunt really enjoyed.
I want to take this time to thank the staff all so much for the care they provided and the friendly faces and smiles we always were greeted with.

It has been a while since I visited Kintullagh House and the difference I noticed as soon as I walked through the front door was impressive. It felt like such a welcoming environment and the atmosphere was lovely. The staff are excellent and very friendly.

My mother has been a patient here for a few years. We have always found the staff professional, knowledgeable, approachable and very caring. We are very grateful for this team's work ethic which resulted in a COVID free home. Staff kept in touch throughout lockdown and facilitated Facetime which helped
put our minds at ease. We would like to thank all the staff for their excellent care.

My father and I visited several homes in the area to find suitable care for my mother, my first reaction was it had a family feel to it and I was really impressed. It did not disappoint, my mother was a resident from August 2019 until she recently passed away July 2020. In early March they were quick
to lockdown and had strict policies to protect their residents. I felt content that mum was in a safe, caring environment. I cannot praise the staff enough in Kintullagh and feel indebted to them for the care they gave her which sadly ended up the last few months of her life. She was admitted to hospital due to her illness and returned for palliative care, she was treated with all the dignity and respect she deserved. Family were able to take turns to sit with her and be there until the end.

My father has been resident here just over 2 years now and I am very happy with the care he is receiving. There is a high standard of cleanliness both in his room and of his personal care. Sometimes clothes are mixed up but he is always clean and they are changed regularly.
It was a very hard time
during the lockdown but the management stepped up very quickly and closed off from visiting very early, this has kept our family member safe from the virus up till now, which we are very thankful for.
The nurses, care assistant, cleaners, kitchen staff are all very friendly, well presented and helpful during any of my visits ( I would be in almost every day before lockdown). Any requests are acted on promptly.

My mother has been a resident in this home for just over a couple of years now. Made to feel very welcome and received a lot of support from the staff when she was going through the difficult time of change in her circumstances and this enabled her to settle in very quickly. She has made a lot of new
friends here, both from the staff and the other residents and enjoys the company.
My mother still has a very active mind and enjoys the entertainment that is available on a regular basis and speaks very highly of the staff involved with this.
I am very grateful to the management and staff of Kintullagh who have shielded and protected my mother during the current COVID pandemic, I couldn't have asked for more.

Our Mother has been a nursing care resident in Kintullagh House for just over a year now, and my brother, her son, and I cannot rate, both the management and the staff, highly enough.
Our mother's needs are met at all times and the home offers plenty of stimulation In the form of events etc.
The due
care and diligence towards our mother have ensured that our mother is safe, happy and immaculate at all times and we have no qualms whatsoever about either her health or safety.
We would without any hesitation recommend Kintullagh to anyone.

Personal care - not washed hands and nails dirty. Room items left lying on the floor, clothes (wrong size) needed to wear large size which are in the wardrobe due to steroids use.
Clothes not hung up properly in the wardrobe, all wrinkled and double creased.
Kindly asked for Mum's phone to be charged
in order to contact. The nurse in charge said the kitchen didn't bother. No tea given at all between lunch and dinner Saturday 14th April

Current Review Score: 8.3 (8.305)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.3 (8.305) out of 10 for Kintullagh House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.213 for Kintullagh House is calculated as follows: ( (69 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (12 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 94 Ratings = 4.213

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.092 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kintullagh House is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 61 registered maximum number of service users is 12.2. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.2 = 0.492

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
