I cared for this person at home before he came into Kingsland Care Centre. The family find the staff very good and helpful. Overall the care is very good, it wasn't easy at the start but as time has gone on my friend has settled in and is getting used to his new home.

My parents were admitted to Kingsland together in difficult circumstances. It has taken a while for them to settle. But throughout the process, the staff and management have been kind, flexible, resourceful and willing to go the extra mile. It is a luxury location with good activities, always clean
and I highly recommend it. The care is very personal with real feeling on the most part and an emphasis on creating a home from home.

My mother-in-law was admitted for a short while in Kingsland Care Centre.
I cannot praise enough the care and love shown to her. From management to the carers, they were the most caring, personal people almost like a family.
I would commend all the staff and would say if anyone wanted a place for
older members of family to be treated with concern and respect, this nursing home should be a first choice.
Thank you again for all your kindness.

Kingsland Care Centre is undergoing renovation and looks well with its new paint and bathroom facilities. The view from the building of Ballyholme Bay is impressive. As a visitor to my mother, I can visit more or less anytime and have been offered refreshments.

My mother has been in Kingsland for nine months and has never been happier.
The quality of her care by the staff is second to none. They are very efficient, especially one nurse, in particular. The food is excellent also and you can request whatever you would like. My mother is the happiest she has
been in years.

I had been very ill at home for several weeks and I was transferred to Kingsland Care Centre. It made all the difference to my life and with such brilliant care and attention, the staff nursed me back to health.
This is a very well run home and constant care and attention is excellent. It is like a
home from home and everyone is on hand to help. There is a beautiful lounge here where residents and visitors get to know each other, all making good friends. The food is a very high standard.

From the moment I arrived at Kingsland and feeling unwell, the manager welcomed me and also resolved issues with my medication. The interest and encouragement shown by the manager has aided my recovery. All staff have shown the utmost degree of politeness, interest and willingness to help me. This is
for laundry, domestic, care assistants and trained staff. I cannot recommend the nursing home highly enough and in a way sorry to leave, but life goes on. Thank you to all.

My husband was admitted in September after three weeks in the hospital. Initially, I thought this would be for 2-3 weeks but as his mobility and dementia deteriorated, he was there until he passed away 31st March this year. He was very happy and I found the staff generally very caring and helpful.

From the moment we first visited Kingsland we were made to feel welcomed and genuinely cared for. The staff made my Father's stay comfortable and their care and attention to his needs was of the highest standard. From the cleaners, laundry lady, auxiliary staff, nurses and care manager my Father was
given respect, time for chats, friendship and reassurance at this difficult time. Nothing was a problem and the attention and devotion of this amazing team continued to his very last day. Kingsland was like a big, comforting hug for us - an extended family of dedicated angels.

My Mother spent the last week of her 94 year life in Kingsland where it was made possible for her and her family for it to be as peaceful and supported as possible. The care, courtesy and concern shown for our my Mum by all the staff we encountered in her short stay there made the time more graceful
and we are very thankful.

My 96 year old father was a resident in Kingsland for 6 months. He had moderate dementia and due to a bleed on the brain the previous August was unable to move. The care he received in Kingsland was exemplary.
Each care assistant treated him with respect, compassion and kindness and even laundry and
cleaning staff took the time to chat to him and took an interest in him. I visited Dad every day and in all that time I never saw anything which caused me concern. The nursing staff were professional and very quick to respond if they noticed any medical issue which they felt needed the doctor or further advice or investigation.
They were also kind to Dad and very supportive and accessible to me at all times. The manager of Kingsland was compassionate and very professional. She maintained and expected high standards from all the staff but was at the same time also very approachable and willing to listen. I couldn't speak highly enough of the care Dad received. He felt secure and cared for.

Current Review Score: 6.4 (6.449)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 6.4 (6.449) out of 10 for Kingsland Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 3.3 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 3.333 for Kingsland Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (9 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (7 Poors x 2) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 3.333

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.116 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kingsland Care Centre is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 43 registered maximum number of service users is 8.6. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.6 = 0.116

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
