The compassionate Castle View care team is committed to providing the highest standards of quality and person-centred nursing and dementia care on a permanent and short stay basis. They never lose sight of the fact that, first and foremost, Castle View is the residents’ home.

Castle View provides residents with facilities in a warm and caring environment benefiting from its peaceful location and surroundings. Set in secure landscaped grounds with stunning views over the hills and down to the sea, Castle View is conveniently located on the outskirts of the picturesque town of Peel on the western coast of the Isle of Man. Bedrooms have en-suite facilities, electric profiling beds, and assisted bathrooms are also available. The home has an on-site hairdressing salon and residents can use the free WiFi throughout the home.

Residents can also benefit from a sensory unit, enjoy a broad range of activities and are encouraged to live as independently as possible, through the use of care pathways, particularly for residents who are living with dementia.

Caring Homes is proud to be the only care home group to have its own unique award-winning dementia training ‘My World’ which is accredited by City and Guilds. It highlights the importance of meaningful activities and a stimulating environment for people living with dementia, in addition to addressing clinical aspects of care.

My uncle was admitted as an emergency as his health had deteriorated and he required intense nursing. the manager was so reassuring and we and family were given free rein - being able to come and go which all helped with the transition. Our aunt then joined him and was given a lovely room with fantastic
views. (very familiar to her even with her dementia) The staff were and are OUTSTANDING they are approachable, sympathetic, professional, caring, friendly. unfortunately, our uncle took a turn for the worst and again the staff were so dignified and allowed us to stay with him 24/7 until he quietly and comfortably passed away. Our aunt is now staying at Castle View on a permanent basis and I am more than satisfied that she will receive continuity of care on a par with how she and her husband were cared for when they lived at their own home. I look forward to visiting her due to the warm greeting I get from the manager and his team of professionals.

My husband stayed here to give me a 2 week respite, and although he had a difficult first couple of days due to a change in his medication (nothing to do with the Home) once settled he had only praise for the staff and facilities. His room was bright and clean with lots of space to put his clothes etc,
the food was varied and good (and I was always offered a drink, or a meal if I was there). He did have a problem with the noise of other people's TV's, and the normal chatter etc., but that is bound to be found in a place like this - and which most people would find reassuring. But with the door shut, his room was pretty quiet. The staff were very attentive, kind and good humoured.

I am delighted to see my mum flourish in the care of the wonderful staff at Castle View. She has so much more stimulation than we could have offered at home. She is such a sociable lady with a great sense of humour.
She seems to be shining here. Her appetite is better and she is drinking much more.

At a very difficult time, finally admitting my wife needs more care than I could give her at home. I found the manager and his staff very supportive and caring. They put my wife and myself at ease and have made the transition from home to care as easy and with a lot of understanding and dignity.

Overall we are happy with the care my mother receives.


The only problems we came across are that her hearing aid battery is not always changed when required and so limits her interaction.


She has 'lost' her teeth on a number of occasions but if they were placed to soak overnight, this would not

happen!


We feel the food is of a high standard and staff are very good.

Shortage of staff bedevils all attempts to excel. Staff on duty make every effort to cover but find it difficult. Increased remuneration would undoubtedly improve recruitment and retention of well-qualified personnel.

I am very happy with the care received by my Mum. The staff are well trained and extremely thoughtful, knowledgeable and compassionate. If I had had any concerns or worries staff are always helpful and spend the time to help. The manager is always available and approachable should I wish to speak with
him. My only concerns are the level of staffing does appear low putting staff under unnecessary pressure during busy periods and the home is in need of some decoration and remedial building works.

We are pleased that mother has settled into Castle View Nursing Home. Initially, she was extremely poorly with vascular dementia, hip problem, she is now mobile with the use of a zimmer frame. She likes to be washed/dressed much earlier than 10:00 am lack of staff? She enjoys the afternoon activities
but would like them everyday, holiday, admin, illness means no activities some days. Appreciates the hairdresser service. Likes the current chef making fresh fruit salad for her.
