Stowford House Care Home is a beautiful purpose-built nursing home overlooking the Oxfordshire greenbelt, situated in the village of Shippon near the historic market town of Abingdon.

Offering 51 spacious en-suite rooms with personal showers, a wide range of facilities and 24-hour expert care. My mother has been at Stowford House since July 2019. She is very very happy, she likes her food and she has no complaints. She is happy with the staff, they all like her comments, quite funny. My wife and I love the staff also, they work extremely hard. Nothing is too much trouble and I hope things
get back to normal soon.

My aunt entered Stowford House in April 2019, and she lived there until her death in January 2020. Although as her relative I was concerned about her move from the house she knew so well, my aunt was clear about her feelings of contentment and safety almost immediately. She had her favourites amongst
the staff and liked them all, and I observed their respectful and kindly interaction with her. My aunt was completely dependant, and her care needs were really well catered for. Her diet was considered and her preferences listened to. Her room and ensuite bathroom were kept beautifully clean, and she really liked her surroundings.
As her relative I was always welcomed and although I imagine my daily phone calls were at times an extra task, staff were always so helpful in ensuring she could speak to me, and indeed encouraged this for her benefit. The nursing and care staff were excellent and reception and administration welcoming and helpful. I would absolutely recommend Stowford House.

My wife has been in Stowford House for 7 months, some 3 years after being diagnosed with Alzheimers. I see her about 5 times a week and although I know her behaviour is sometimes challenging, I get considerable peace of mind when I have to leave here knowing that she is comfortable and well looked after
there. The carers seem always kind and friendly both to her and me, indeed to all. It is difficult to find fault with their diligence in caring for all needs. The nurses are almost always willing to discuss her well-being and update me with anything relevant. The home always seems well organised with care taken to see all staff have a positive attitude to those in residence.

My mother has been a resident here for 18 months. She is living with the final stages of dementia and is vulnerable. The care she receives here is excellent. A lot of effort is made to ensure she is safe and comfortable. She entered with a stage 4 bed sore which the staff addressed very quickly. Specialist
equipment has been purchased to ensure her safety. Her dignity is always respected and the staff are very caring.

My mother decided on discharge from hospital to go to Stowford House for a little extra TLC to fully recover. Unexpectedly, it very soon turned into end of life care.
I cannot thank all involved enough for the attention and care shown to my mother and me at all times.

My father was a resident for a very short time from December 2018 until he died in January 2019. During this short time, he received excellent care from all the staff.
They were very friendly and approachable.
His room was lovely and overlooked the garden and was clean and comfortable. Although Dad
was a resident for such a short time, I feel he would have been very well looked after here.

Excellent.
Stowford House felt good as soon as I arrived at my first visit, having a simple, calm and reassuring feel to it. We had to organise a room for poor Mum quite quickly, she was extremely frail with a lot wrong and the hospital could do no more for her.
My brother and I were quickly reassured.
The nurses are highly skilled, they kept us fully informed as they increased Mum's nursing needs, involving my brother and me in helping them make her comfortable. The nursing staff and care teams were really warm and kindly, and Mum's passing was handled with discrete tenderness.
In the end, they liaised with a palliative care nurse from another home. I'm so glad Mum didn't need the hospital again.
It's all still a fog, Mum died yesterday, 11 days after her arrival. But my brother and I are so grateful to Stowford House, my first good impressions being totally accurate, her being at Stowford is the thing that has made bearable the end of 5 ghastly months. We would recommend Stowford House without hesitation. All great professionals.

Staff seem very friendly, some could be more helpful. Activities are being run by one person who is trying to do a good job but there were three activities staff. A lot of rooms need decorating.

My mother first went to stay at Stowford House in July 18, for respite following a collapse at home resulting in two weeks in hospital where she had a pacemaker fitted. She suffers from short-term memory loss and confusion. We were advised at the hospital that she should not return home to live and
so she is now a permanent resident. Stowford House is light and airy with a lovely garden and the staff are very helpful and caring. Activities are planned every day and she has joined the poetry club where she is delighted that she has been asked to read. Although it is still early days she is beginning to settle in.

Generally very pleased with my father's care but it is so expensive - all his life savings have disappeared nearly - he worked hard all his life, having come from Poland during the war after time in Siberia. He would be unhappy to know that all he accomplished has gone with the fees! But that is not
the fault of Stowford House.

After training to become a registered nurse, I specialised in the care of the elderly, working as a nurse consultant and a modern matron. This involved overseeing a couple of community hospitals, as well as an NHS nursing home.


The nature of the work meant that I subsequently progressed naturally into the management of care homes, all the while ensuring high standards of care.


Residents deserve a high standard of care and support – this is a matter that I am deeply passionate about.


Consequently, I ensure that all policies, procedures, values, and the ethos of the Future Care Group are adhered to. These aspects assist me in cultivating a highly skilled team capable of enhancing the lives of our residents. This enables the team to lead happy and fulfilled lives, all the while retaining the freedom to choose the care and support the residents wish to receive.


I firmly believe in nurturing strong relationships with residents and their relatives. I acknowledge the crucial contribution that these relationships make to the effective operation of a care home. My door is always open should you wish to come and have a conversation.
