Agnes and Arthur is a fully refurbished and renovated care home for the elderly. Located in a quiet residential area of Bradeley, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. The home specialises in catering for people diagnosed with dementia.

Safe Harbor acquired the former Eardley House facility and have transformed and improved the home that has the affection of the local community.

There is welcoming accommodation, with a design that makes the most of natural light. There are new kitchen and laundry facilities, a wireless nurse call system, speakers in the corridors and wireless internet throughout.

All residential provision is personalised and the home employs over 50 experienced members of staff to care for residents.

    The home has regular events that everyone is welcome to attend. These can be found on the Facebook page or on the activities calendar in the home.


    When entering the home please sign into to Agnes and Arthur's visitor book and ensure to wear one of the visitor's lanyards available in the reception area.

The staff are lovely, they are so kind and caring towards the residents and their relatives. They work so hard and always have a smile on their face. We have attended a Jubilee party today for residents and their families, which has been fabulous and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. The activities coordinator
and all the staff did a brilliant job.

My sister is very pleased with all aspects of her care which I can confirm. From my point of view, I think the home is run very professionally and nothing is too much trouble. I can see my nana is so happy living at Agnes and Arthur she says the staff are lovely. She is happy and the staff are nice and pleasant. Seeing my nana happy makes me happy even though I miss her so much. It's nice to see my nan enjoy all the activities.

Whilst going through such difficult times, the staff at Agnes and Arthur made sure the residents took part in all pre-Christmas activities even though relatives were unable to join in. Regular updates and pictures were posted on Facebook to enable us to see our family were having a good time regardless
of the pressures Covid has put all under.

My mum was admitted from hospital to Agnes and Arthur when Covid broke out. My mum sadly passed away in December at Agnes and Arthur. The staff were brilliant during these hard times and I knew Mum was looked after and cared for during her stay.

Friendly and supportive staff. The care for my sister is excellent and her needs are always met. My sister can be stubborn and the staff are always patient with her and understanding her mental health needs as well as physical. Her room is always clean and tidy and the fact there has been no covid cases
in the home shows commitment by all even though it is sad to not be able to hug our siblings.

Since mum came to stay at Agnes and Arthur she's settled in nicely. I know she is well looked after by the staff even though sometimes there doesn't seem enough staff working when I visit, most staff are friendly and welcoming, It's clean though the toilets on the ground floor can be a bit unclean.
Entertainment and activities have got better and mum has gone out on day trips more. Overall happy for mum to stay here.

A warm and friendly arrival. The home was very clean, warm and inviting for my brother in law. The choice of menu is excellent and all the meals are cooked to a very high standard and presented beautifully. Great care and attention is given to all residents, I am very happy that my brother in law is

Very warm welcome - all the staff are lovely to not only my dad but to us too. The facilities are super and we love the squirrel visits. His bedroom is great - very posh! He's loving the food and gets double puddings if there are any spare! It's nice that we get a cuppa and a bite too. A few of us went
over the pub the other night and had a fab time. I can't name check any of the staff because they're equally all ace. All the admin we've done has been straight forward so no problems there. All good! I would definitely recommend. Thank you!

They were all fantastic, could not ask for a better bunch of people. The home was well clean, there is nothing bad we can say. Certainly will be using them if we have to haha. Hope not. I come to visit a neighbour and friend.
Staff were very welcoming, was offered a drink, spoke to other residents who seemed to be happy to chat. Some residents were engaged in activities.
It was a beautiful day, so many were in the garden strolling.

My mother was a resident for 3 years. When she first went into a care home, it was run properly and I had no issues, then the management changed and the whole place except for the kitchen and a few carers, it went downhill very quickly. My mum's personal care was none existent and I had to go every
day to give this plus senior carers gave 9 tablets in one go. The reason to refuse this many is that my mam has problems swallowing. When I complained, I was given 28 days notice. If you care for your loved ones, don't place them here.

Anita

Anita Hopkins

Job Title: Registered Manager

Our registered Manager is Anita Hopkins


Anita’s background is a complementary therapy in which she has attained a degree which assists her regularly whilst overseeing the care of the residents in her home.


Anita started off as a care assistant in care, in a care home at an early age, and later on provided 1:1 care for individuals in the community with acute health conditions. With over 17 years of varied care experience working in care homes and community settings, Anita has plenty of experience in providing palliative (end of life) care and dementia care. The majority of Anita’s care experience is from care homes and has been a homegrown success story within our organisation, starting to work for the Safe Harbor group in March 2015 as a trainee Senior Carer and has progressed within our organisation through her hard work and dedication. Anita’s internal progression culminated in her achieving a CQC Registered Managers’ position in December 2017 and then moving to manage Agnes and Arthur in December 2018 where she has remained since.


Whilst working at Agnes and Arthur, Anita has trained to level 5 in Health and Social care and management. Anita’s future focus is to continue with the vast improvements she has implemented in the home and has plans to move the home to outstand with the compassionate care that is delivered to the home.
