Field Lodge is a purpose-built care home on the outskirts of St Ives in Cambridgeshire. The home offers a range of high-quality services from residential and nursing care, to respite and specialist dementia care.

Field Lodge boasts a range of amenities for residents to enjoy, no matter their likes and interests. From a tuck shop and contemporary café to an in-house cinema and hair salon and nail bar, there is always something on offer.

Each bedroom has been designed and decorated to offer ultimate comfort, they are spacious and complete with a widescreen TV and en-suite bathroom. Residents can also enjoy weekly activities in the lively home atmosphere.

At Field Lodge, there is a person-centred approach to care. The team takes time to get to know each resident before they move in to deliver individual care and lifestyle plans to suit their unique needs.

I've had a lovely visit with mum again today. Field Lodge is always a joy to visit. Always spotlessly clean. The staff are very friendly, both towards residents and visitors and go out of their way to help. Mum's privacy is always respected and she is always treated with dignity. Mum's been at Field
Lodge for 5 1/2 years now and never once have I regretted her being there.

My mother has been to Field Lodge twice for respite care. I was so impressed with the level of care. There are plenty of staff to support residents and they are so patient and warm. Mum came home stronger and more engaged each time. When (as is inevitable with dementia) that she needs full time care
she will be returning to Field Lodge where I have every confidence that she will have the best possible care.

Mum has been at Field Lodge for a year now. Her move was accelerated by a bad fall at home, a broken hip and a need for respite care last year. I live abroad and the team moved heaven and earth to help me get mum moved from another care home where she had been initially placed after her hospital stay
(and was totally unsuitable). When the chance came, mum moved to the ground floor, where she currently lives in a very attractive room.


First up, to quote others, it comes down to the staff. In my opinion this amazing team cannot be thanked enough for their constant attention to detail in their care, from personal care, to the plentiful food and for all the marvellous activities laid on, daily I might add. Mum has been to shopping centres, on boat trips, had an evening meal out at a pub and been to a petting zoo. The home itself is clean, warm, safe and welcoming. Above all, residents are treated with kindness and respect. I don't think there is higher praise than that. Thank you.

Mum lived at Field Lodge for almost 8 months, until recently. Dad lived there for 18 months 8 years ago. The premises are well maintained, well furnished, clean and fresh. In-home facilities such as cinema, coffee shop, lounges and dining rooms are excellent. Field Lodge looks as good today as it did
in 2016.
Residents' food is very good, domestic staff keep the premises and residents' rooms very clean, and maintenance and repairs are done promptly and without fuss.
The lifestyle team organise activities, classes, outings and concerts regularly. There is something to look forward to daily.
But all the above is nothing without the people at Field Lodge. At every level: senior management, admin, domestic, lifestyle, nurses, team leaders and carers, they all provide an outstanding service. We lost Mum recently, but the care, compassion and love shown to Mum at the end of her life is beyond measure and made her journey so much more bearable for her and us.

Visited my grandma just after Christmas and had a lovely day. Met great staff members always happy and friendly. My grandma is very lucky to be there. Home was very clean and warm, we had a coffee and cake in the coffee shop.

A good care home with kind, caring and friendly staff. Good activities and staff. Was told they would not move but she was moved to another care home as the council would not pay her care home fees. Very disappointed and expensive.

What a lovely place. I visit my friend who has been at Field Lodge for 18 months every week for coffee in the cafe.
The staff are so friendly and helpful and the care is amazing. The care is excellent and the staff do anything to help it feels like you are visiting friends every week.

It's a joy to visit my friend, the staff are friendly and caring, we chat to other residents and their visitors. There is always a selection of lovely cakes and pastries on offer in the Cafe. The entertainment staff are always busy organising things to entertain and occupy the residents. My friend says
that the quality of the food is really good. If one of my relatives needed care I would be happy for them to reside there.

Wonderful care was given to my mother at Field Lodge, where she had lived for five years. From the manager to the carers, kitchen staff, domestic, etc, everyone was thoughtful, kind and caring. I could not have wished for any better care. The activities provided were excellent and relevant and organised
to suit residents needs. ]Sadly, my mother died a few days ago. I will be forever grateful to Field Lodge for looking after her so well.

My mother has been in Field Lodge for over 3 years and she has had amazing care. The staff are always smiling and nothing is too much when asked anything. The home is very clean and welcoming. Mum has been a resident at Field Lodge for the best part of three years. With dementia, type one diabetes and more recently a mini-stroke, she is a complex individual. Mum has been very well looked after at the home and treated with dignity. Medical issues have always been resolved as quickly as possible
and the family has always been kept informed. Staff are generally very good, facilities and entertainment all of a high standard. I would recommend Field Lodge if asked.

I arrived in December and was made very welcome. I am looked after and have a good relationship with the lovely staff. I enjoy taking part in the activities programme and they are varied. On the whole, I am very settled in my new home, the only improvements I can suggest are to the wifi connection and
a more consistent standard of catering.

Field Lodge feels like home. There is a kind and caring atmosphere. It has excellent facilities. They are clean and comfortable. There is a lovely garden. As a Home Manager, I am constantly striving to make the home a better place. At Field Lodge, we’ve been a part of several firsts for Care UK, which I’m really proud of. We were the first Care UK home to provide residents with Namaste care and the first to be awarded the ‘Care for VIPs’ accreditation from Worcester University.


I’m very passionate about supporting individuals living with dementia, both initiatives acknowledge a gold-tier level of care as well as heightening support for relatives thanks to a strong focus on person-centred care. From the levels of support and care, I have been shortlisted for ‘Dementia Care Manager of the Year’ at the National Care Awards 2023.


I am keen to create an inclusive environment for everyone, we celebrate all cultures and LGBTQ+ with a variety of activities. Field Lodge has a homely atmosphere, I’m incredibly proud of the whole team who make the home such a comfortable place for everyone.

Job Title: Lifestyle Coordinator & Dementia Care Coach

I love the family feel of our care home and enjoy getting to know the residents and their families. Knowing I’ve made a difference in the resident's lives, especially those living with dementia, is the highlight of my day.


I’m a trained namaste practitioner, as part of my day I run namaste sessions which include hand or foot massages, music therapy, and themed sensory and gentle movement sessions. I’m very passionate about namaste as it gives people living with advanced dementia a way to communicate, it brings dignity, connection, and comfort, embracing the essence of each individual within the environment of the home.


Field Lodge is like no other care home, I love working here, and I’ve been at the home since 2014.

I put on a programme of activities every week, I love organising fun and exciting things for residents to do, whether that’s out in the minibus, or entertainment and activities in the home. Our location is a real treat as in a couple of minutes residents are in St Ives, where we can stop and get a coffee and feed the ducks.


But not everyone likes going out or group activities, I find it just as important to have a cup of tea and a natter, this can be about their life history or life at home, I always ensure activities are resident-led, to ensure maximum enjoyment and engagement.


I have worked at Care UK since 2014, it’s a fantastic organisation, everyone cares about delivering the highest quality care.

I have over 30 years’ experience in catering in hotels and restaurants, when I joined Field Lodge in 2020 it was my first experience of working in a care home.
