Drovers House is located on the old Cattle Market in Rugby, benefiting from being close to local shops, markets, a theatre, cinema, library, train station and bus route.

To ensure an active lifestyle, Lifestyle Coaches plan a range of activities and trips out in the community. There is also a café, shop, luxury spa bath and a beauty salon offering unisex hairdressing and manicures.

Drovers House offers long-term and respite care for older people across six households, each benefiting from its own communal open-plan lounge, dining area and kitchen, where people can make their own snacks and drinks and staff are always on hand to prepare hot refreshments if requested. All rooms have ensuite wetrooms, a personalised front door, plenty of storage and the facility to install a TV or phone. For couples, a double apartment can be created with a bedroom and private lounge, or adjacent bedrooms are available.

The home uses a range of technology to enhance the health and wellbeing of residents, including circadian lighting in one household and the reception area, and acoustic night-time monitoring.

The open living area is a central hub for each household where people can get together and socialise with other residents, family and friends. The garden includes a specially designed cycle path for a side-by-side bicycle for two, outdoor gym equipment, summerhouse, a tool shed, raised beds and varied planting which residents and staff take care of.

First impression is that Drovers is so much more modern, cheerful and just simply better than any of the homes I saw ten years ago when my wife was looking for a home for her father. The facilities are really good, and whilst Dad may not be able to join in playing ping pong, I can see that the activities
and communities created are really good. Dad especially appreciated visiting the garden and the balcony during the warmer weather. Reassuring to see that the food service is rated so well. The patient's gateway is a portal that you can connect to at any time and see in great detail what has been happening. When moving your Dad from his own home after being independent all of his long life, the fear of getting it wrong is a worry but I am now totally relieved and satisfied that I would be very happy if my family chose a home-like Drovers for me when my time comes. All staff that have contact with Dad and those that have contact with me are so understanding and caring. Nice people. Nice place.

My father spent a week at Drovers for respite, I could not recommend the home more. The staff provide high quality person-centred care. It was my dads first time in a home and he was very unsure of what to expect, on leaving he said he would be more than happy to go back when he needs too. The relative's
gateway is a great tool meaning I was able to check how he was whilst I was on holiday. Brilliant facilities, clean, bright and excellent activities including the gift of years.

My mum has been at Drovers House for 1 year. She has vascular dementia and previously lived on her own. The care at Drovers has been excellent, I cannot praise the staff enough. I was also given a lot of support when mum first moved in.

My dad came to Drovers in May 2019 for a short stay. I fought very hard to keep my dad here full time. I have had bad experiences of family in residential care homes but when I came to look around Drovers I instantly knew and felt this was the place for my dad. Good, clean, extremely friendly home.
Staff have made my dad feel so welcome and they worked very hard to settle and take good care of my dad. Most of all, due to working long hours I am able to get an update on how my dad is doing through the gateway system on a daily basis. All homes should have this in place. Overall I am extremely happy and know my dad is in good hands.

My family member has been a full-time resident of Drovers House for almost a year now and overall we have been very happy with his care. The staff are friendly, helpful and he likes them. He loves the food and there are plenty of activities on offer and staff do encourage residents to take part. Some
of the staff go above and beyond their duties and take people out in their own time. The environment is modern, attractive and clean and there’s a lovely garden and communal areas for those who want to participate. We really liked that we could take his personal things there and make his room feel like home.

My mum had a 2 week respite stay at Drover's House. It was such a good experience for her and for me.
Planning for her stay included a visit to her home by the manager to get to know a bit about beforehand. The environment, support, care staff and use of technology for keeping in touch with her whilst
we were away were excellent. She really enjoyed her "holiday" and so did we. Thank you so much.

My mum has recently had a two week respite period at Drovers House, I can honestly say that the care she received was excellent.


The carers treated the residents with respect and kindness and nothing was too much trouble. They were always smiling and interacting with the residents.


The home is

well laid out being spacious, with numerous lounges and different areas such as a coffee lounge and hairdressing salon.


Should my mum need care in the future I would definitely choose this home.

Stephanie McElhatton

Job Title: General Manager

Joined: 2003

I’m the General Manager at Drovers House and have been with WCS Care since 2003.


I started as a Carer at Dewar Close in Rugby and soon aspired to be a Home Manager. In my journey, I’ve worked in various roles such as Senior Carer, Care Manager and Deputy Home Manager in our Rugby homes, before becoming Home Manager at Drovers in 2020.


I love how I can make a difference in our residents’ lives and share my knowledge with my team to help them deliver high-quality care.


Outside of work, I love taking part in quiz games or watching them on TV (from The Chase to Family Fortunes), reading fiction and watching documentaries.
