A wonderful warm welcome from all staff members. Mum has settled in well and everybody has been exceptionally kind, caring, thoughtful and welcoming. We viewed many different care facilities before deciding on Winchcombe Place which will meet Mum's needs perfectly.

We came to Winchcombe in quite a hurry following a quick deterioration in my mother's condition. The team were quick to react and once we made a decision we were into a room the next day! Since then mum has been taken into the home she has done very well and all my interactions with the staff have been
great. She loves the visiting children. It's early days, but so far everything has worked out well.

During a very stressful period looking for a home for Mum, I was recommended several homes, one of which was Winchcombe Place. Right from the first contact, the enthusiasm and professionalism of the Winchcombe Place team was apparent. Out of all the homes I visited, Winchcombe came out on top. The
modern facilities, bright clean rooms and friendly feel of the home shone through. Mum has been at Winchcombe a short time but she is delighted with the quality of the care, the food and the warm homely feeling.

How do you organise a 100th birthday party for your beloved grandmother now that she is living in residential care? Answer, leave it all to the wonderful staff at Winchcombe Place Care Home. As the big day was nearing, imagine my surprise and delight when the lifestyle lead asked me if they could organise
a party for Nan. We were consulted but they took care of all the arrangements and what a party it was! The café was decorated with balloons and banners; the tables were adorned with pretty decorations and 100th birthday napkins. The catering team produced a wonderful afternoon tea and a fabulous birthday cake. They even arranged for her hair and nails to be done and a new outfit was sourced. She looked wonderful and was made to feel as special as she deserved on this very special occasion. One she could share with other residents, family, friends and even the mayor. Thank you to everyone involved, you made a very special lady very tired but very happy!

I've been so impressed with the quality of care, compassion and understanding shown by the Winchcombe staff in helping my aunt overcome a range of challenges to settle in. They have been equally welcoming towards the family and helpful in addressing our questions and concerns. The facilities themselves
are very good and my aunt has enjoyed the garden when the weather allows. However, it is the staff who make the real difference in creating the caring and homely atmosphere. They really go the extra mile to care for the residents as individuals; providing a wide and generous range of activities and entertainment. I wish I could list all the names as there are so many stars, Senior Customer Relations, the hero carers and the wonderful late shift who so kindly welcomed us with such calm and kindness when we arrived back late with my aunt from hospital. A journey that began, as likely for many of us, with guilt and worry, has arrived at knowing my aunt's care is in very good hands.

Winchcombe Place is a truly, lovely care home, well looked after, very clean, and most importantly, loving, understanding, caring staff being management, receptionists, careers, maintenance and all other staff members. We choose Winchcombe Place because of the staff, facilities and their outlook on
being careers. My dad needed some respite, and he has dementia and needed extra care, and Winchcombe was very understanding of our needs, and the staff were incredibly supportive of our family and helped to settle Dad in and for him to become aware of his new surroundings.
As a whole family, we have been very impressed with all the staff who have looked after Dad, from giving him his medication to making sure his health and safety are well cared for. The food is freshly made each day, and the homemade cakes are just delicious... I can confirm myself!!
Visiting Dad was never a problem - always greeted with kindness, and communication was 100% - thank you.

Mum came in for a two-week respite to assist with recovery of a minor operation and also to experience the difference between living at home alone with carers compared to being in a care home.
She has left with a positive feeling about the experience “the carers were so nice and helpful”. Mum enjoyed
the activities and felt safe at the home as she knew there was always someone there to help her.
Personally, I found the experience very good, all the staff were so positive, cheery and helpful and understood the difficulties of caring for a parent.
Importantly even though Mum was only there for two weeks, I felt that the staff had got to know Mum and were building relationships with her.
If Mum decided that she wanted to make a move I would be very happy that she stayed at Winchcombe.

Having to put your loved ones into a care home can be a daunting experience, however, I cannot praise enough the level of care and compassion all of the carers and management team have shown towards my father.
My father is very shy but the team makes sure that they have regular one-to-one interactions
with him to get him out of his shell and go out of their way to make sure he has some of his favourite treats.
I can't thank the team enough for the care they have given my father.

My father moved to Winchcombe Place just under a week ago, having moved straight from hospital to the home. Although he has only been at Winchcombe a few days, we have been really pleased with the care and support received so far. The staff at Winchcombe ensured his room was freshly decorated, all his
paintings and pictures hung and his belongings all unpacked in his room ready for his arrival. This meant a great deal to us as moving Dad out of the family home of 35 years into a residential home was an emotional step.
When the plans commenced for Dad to be transferred from the hospital to the home, we received regular updates as to the latest status, when Dad arrived and how he had settled. The staff have made him feel really welcome finding out about his hobbies, interests and favourite foods. My mother has also been to visit Dad and also made to feel welcome with no pressure around the time of visits or length of stay. The care and attention Dad has received so far have been excellent.

My father has been a resident at Winchcombe Place for several months now and despite me living outside the UK, I’ve been able to visit him several times. I have always found Winchcombe Place to be very clean and tidy, the staff are professional, friendly and helpful both in person and on the telephone.
My father’s room is well-appointed and from what I’ve seen, the food is good and to his liking. Overall, I am happy with the treatment he is getting there and he seems to be too. The only area in which there could be some improvement is in communication. He owns a mobile phone but he doesn’t always remember to switch it on and when the battery runs down it can be a day or two before this is noticed. It is possible to talk to him by being put through from reception to a cordless phone but that relies on there being somebody available in that part of the home to answer it, and the people working there are usually very busy. Therefore I don’t get to speak to him as often as I’d like.

My mother's move to Winchcombe Place occurred in June 2021 and all aspects of the move were handled with cheerful efficiency by the Customer Relations Manager. One or two initial problems following the move were dealt with quickly, and my mother now feels well settled in her new surroundings and very
appreciative of the 24-hour care she receives. It is certainly reassuring for me and my wife to know that she is being so well looked after and that visits are so much easier than when she was living on her own 150 miles away. It was also an enormous help that we could establish a direct telephone line to her room so that, even when it hasn't been possible to visit her when the home is in lockdown, we have still been able to keep in touch. On the day of her 105th birthday and also at Christmas the staff went out of their way to celebrate with her, and without exception, all her carers are extremely friendly and helpful. She enjoys regular visits from the hairdresser and chiropodist.

We have come in for a short stay whilst our home is rewired. We have received such amazing care from everyone. Nothing is too much trouble for them I have so much laughter and banter with the staff whilst they are caring for me. I had wanted some magazines and they went and got them for me. Well done

From the moment we were contacted by the Customer Relations Manager, regarding a place for my Mother who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's Dementia, the service we have received from all the staff has been excellent. As a family, we were so concerned about the transition of her going into the home
but she was welcomed by the Customer Relations Manager who kindly took my Mother by the arm and gently guided her into the home. I was able to leave her knowing that she was in such safe hands. We receive regular updates and photographs of her and it is such a comfort to know that she is now being so well cared for. I would highly recommend Winchcombe Place care home to anyone.

My mother-in-law is currently in Winchcombe Place for a period of convalescence to help her recovery from Covid. She had previously been in hospital over Christmas. My husband and I were very anxious about her move, as due to the pandemic, we had not been able to visit her and had to trust the professionals
who found this placement. We could not be happier. The staff at Winchcombe have all been amazing, settling in my mother-in-law and answering all our many questions. Nothing has been too much trouble. They even arranged a Zoom call in the first few days so that we could all see each other - this was the first time we had seen each other for over 6-weeks and was just amazing! We agreed to share pictures on their Facebook page so that others could share our delight. I think the pictures speak a thousand words! I would have no hesitation in recommending Winchcombe to any other family. It truly is a home from home.

From the moment we contacted Winchcombe, the staff have been utterly amazing. We had the difficult task of moving mum, who has Alzheimer’s, directly from a hospital stay into a care home in September this year. The help and advice given and the ability to show us virtually around was outstanding. Mum’s
room was set up with her own possessions with so much care, and she has been made to feel so welcome. It took a couple of weeks for mum to accept that this was her new home, but once over that hurdle, well managed by the staff, her health and wellbeing have improved so much, and she is full of smiles when we video call. Care is never far away, and we are so relieved that in this awful pandemic, we know that mum is being so well looked after.
Winchcombe Place is fantastic, our families can’t thank you enough for the fantastic job that you are doing.

I stayed at Winchcombe Place for two weeks of respite care in October 2020.
My room was excellent, my clothing regularly laundered, and the food was attractively served and appetising. The daily care I received during my stay was also excellent, the carers all being friendly and mindful of my personal
requirements especially at a time that required everyone to be vigilant in observing sanitising and the strict rules in place to keep me safe from the possibility of contracting the Coronavirus.
I appreciated the help I that received with my iPad, which is important to me, and I received my daily newspaper without which I am lost!
I thank you for the exemplary care I received during my stay and hope to see you again in future times that are not so stressful.

Job Title: Home Manager

I have 30 years of experience working in care homes, and I was keen to join Care UK because of Winchcombe Place’s great reputation within the local community.


Before this, I was working as a Home Manager of a nursing home for residents living with dementia who required nursing care.


As Home Manager of Winchcombe Place, it’s important that I’m empathetic, a good listener and have good leadership skills. I ensure I’m always open and transparent and show my own learning when needed.


My favourite part of the day is walking around the home and talking to residents, relatives and colleagues. By spending time with residents, I find out what else we can be doing to enhance their lives.


I’m proud of my achievements, including a career highlight of turning a home from ‘Requires Improvement’ to ‘Good’ within six months. But I also feel fulfilled when I see my team enhancing the lives of residents or progressing in their careers. Seeing the residents smile and having a great quality of life also makes everything we do worth it.


The most important part of my role is ensuring the safety of the residents and all those who visit Winchcombe Place. As both a manager and someone who has had a loved one live in a care home, I have valuable experience seeing care homes from both sides.


When I’m not at work, I enjoy family walks with my beautiful cockapoo Lottie, cooking and travelling.
