Gedling Village Care Home is a purpose built 3-story building, with en-suite bedrooms and double bedrooms available for couples. The home is split into three communities; Orchid Suite, Forget Me Not Suite and Lavender Suite, all of which have lounge and dining facilities.

Residents moving into Gedling Village Care Home are encouraged to personalise their own bedrooms, bringing in possessions, photos, pieces of furniture, etc., to create a homely atmosphere.

Nutrition and fluids are offered to all residents daily, with a choice of three meal options and various snacks and light bite options during the day and evening, from a fully stocked drinks and snacks trolley that is taken around the home during the day and evening by staff. Residents and visitors can request food/snacks and drink at any time of the day or night.

The home has a variety of Activities throughout the day, and celebrates notable events in the calendar, encouraging friends and family to take part. From Valentine's dinners and Easter Fairs to Elf Day and visits from Santa, there is always something to look forward to. There is also a stay and play group for little ones for therapy for residents with Dementia.

Absolutely fantastic home, staff are friendly, and caring. It's so clean lots of great activities for residents, our Grandad was here for end-of-life care, he couldn't have been in a better place.
I would definitely recommend Gedling Care Home.

A year on since moving our mother here she is thriving. She is very well looked after here and loved like a family member. This is a lovely home. The staff are very caring. The rooms are spotless and the lounge is airy with constant activities to enjoy. We are kept well informed as necessary. The food
is homecooked with a lovely varied choice. Gedling Village Care Home is one big family and I strongly recommend it.

My husband had been in GV for respite - March 24 husband moved in permanently - very happy with the care he receives. I am also treated kindly and welcome to stay for my dinner! Everywhere is tidy and clean! My husband can be difficult at times but treated with respect and sensitivity.

It is really comforting for our family to know that Mum is in a really safe and friendly environment at this stage of her life, where she is no longer able to live independently. She particularly enjoys all the activities put on daily by the staff, especially anything to do with a particular creche,
the therapy pets and all the celebrations where friends and family join in... the list goes on!

After receiving care in the community for my dad with respite in-between it just wasn't working for either him or my mum! So without hesitation, we decided the best and safest way forward was respite with a view to permanent at Gedling Village! My mum and dad both get quality time with each other every
day! I know my dad is getting a healthy balanced diet and round-the-clock care and support which at 78 he deserves! The day my dad arrived at Gedling Village the team noticed straight away he had an infection in his legs (which community care had failed to notice) they were on it straight away, had the GP out and prescribed antibiotics that day! This is definitely a home-from-home! And I get regular updates on how he is etc. The whole team are absolutely amazing, kind and welcoming and goes above and beyond for residents and their families! So much so, I am volunteering at their monthly memory café where the activities co-ordinater goes above and beyond to make this happen! Outstanding team.

My mum came to Gedling Village Care Home in June 2023, in the next 7 months she was to fall over 12 times... I will leave it to your own judgment as to why she was allowed to fall over so many times in this so-called care home. When she had her last fall she was admitted to hospital. Whilst she was
in hospital we learned that the care home would not have my mum back, they never even had the guts to tell us to our face! They charge the obscene amount of £1000 per week but when somebody actually needs some effort put into their care this place is not interested, but I suppose I should be grateful that my mum came out of this place alive! On top of all this they connive with nasty vile social workers behind your back. To anyone thinking of using this place, please think again, it may look nice on the surface but behind the scenes it most certainly is not. Choose a smaller care home where your loved one will get the care they deserve.

Thank you for your feedback. Mum presented with a high risk of falls. When we assess all our residents prior to admission we gather this information and risk assess those independently. This led us to put a sensor mat and robust care planning in place for mum. We have a policy in place allowing us to monitor patterns of falls, and procedures we follow which include liaising with all the relevant professionals for support around a service user's safety. Throughout this, you liaised with us to make decisions regarding mum's health, as you are the power of attorney over health decisions. Together with health professionals, it was decided mum would be safest in a home offering nursing care. This is not a decision made lightly or alone, this is made with an array of qualified professionals with the residents' best interests at the full front of the decision-making.

My first impressions of the home were good, friendly, and clean and the staff were always around to help. The general dining room is very nice and spacious and tables are very well laid out and decorative. Pleasantly surprised by the size of the single rooms (excellent!). Breakfast was lovely with a
varied selection. Externally, the garden is nice with display features and it has a lovely large veranda when the climate is friendly.

My grandma is often left in bed in her nighty all day, often after 1pm she is still in her nighty and hasn’t even had a wash, this is basic human rights care. Today 4/11/23 she was unwashed in bed at 2:30pm. We had to dress and get her to have a wash ourselves.
We have had to throw away a considerable
amount of her clothes due to them being shrunk in the wash. Her sheepskin rug was also washed and shrunk and ruined, which really upset my grandma, as she loved the rug.
Some carers are brilliant, however, the top floor is often forgotten about and left unattended for considerable amounts of time, my gran's buzzer has been ringing for over 30 minutes without a peep from anyone on several occasions.

My mother has been here for over a year and on numerous occasions a lack of information and communication has been a major concern of mine. This is especially common between management and family and is becoming very frustrating. This is definitely an area for improvement as it is lacking here. I can't
always do a face-to-face as I prefer to spend time with Mum, so I email my concerns usually regarding a recent incident. These are not replied to for days, weeks and sometimes not at all.

The staff team are always warm and welcoming and have lovely, warm relationships with each of those that they care for. The staff seem to know each person they care for really well and understand their individual needs. In my experience, staff communicate really well with those that they care for and
always respond to them with dignity and respect, giving them choices. My mum is very settled and happy here and has close relationships with staff members. The home is managed well and is very centred on all those who live in the home and the staff team.

My mum was in the Gedling Village Care Home from December 2022 to May 2023, when she sadly passed away. The management have the most amazing team onboard, they helped Mum keep her dignity and nothing was too much trouble. They did loads of activities with Mum, her cleanliness was so very good and the
food was amazing. I can't praise the staff enough, they are so kind and supportive, they listen and were wonderful with me and my sister. Theyy are just the most excellent place and team.

Mum had mixed dementia and went to the care home in December 2022, until May 2023 when she died from her vascular dementia. The care that my mum received was outstanding from the manager down to the housekeeping staff. Everyone went above and beyond to not only care for Mum but also to care for myself
and my sister. We felt that we had been included in a wonderful family unit. We cannot thank everyone enough for their love and support. Mum could not have been in a better place at the end of her life.

My name is Michelle Garland and I have worked in care for 23 years. I have worked with Pearlcare at Gedling Village Care Home for the last 8 years. I started as an administrator, and I completed my NVQ level 2 in business management. I was promoted to deputy manager in September 2021 and became the manager in May 2022.


Throughout my 23 years of experience in care, I have worked within nursing, residential, dementia and worked on EMI units. I have gained a lot of knowledge and experience with all the different areas I have worked in. Since working with Pearlcare they have helped and supported me to gain further progression in my career as a manager. I am currently working towards my NVQ level 5 in residential management.


My main focus at Gedling Village Care Home is to ensure the safety of my residents and most importantly make sure they are happy and feel at home. As a manager I am passionate about my residents being supported and for them to be able to make their own choices and decisions, whichever it may be. Gedling Village thrives with their open-door policy and having an honest home. Gedling Village takes pride in their décor, activities and decision-making of the home to include all relatives, residents, staff, and family members to be included.


Gedling Village has achieved so many goals in the last 12 months. Gedling Village has altered the decoration within the care home and completed a massive garden renovation this year. We have decorated many bedrooms and changed the floorings, not only in bedrooms but corridors also. A lot of this was achieved from our Covid-19 infection control grant. We also managed to get x3 electric sluice machines and a medication room on each floor. Gedling Village have received 2 contract and monitoring inspection reports which have been very good, and we have also had a very good infection control inspection.


Gedling Village have put on plenty of events which include Halloween, Bonfire, Christmas, and our coronation party we had the local mayor and mayoress of our local area. Our residents also enjoy the regular entertainers, pantomimes, Zumba and our wonderful animal therapy.


We receive many comments from friends, family and relatives stating how enjoyable and how much entertainment we provide for our residents.

Jane Richmond

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Jane has been in Health & Social Care for the past 30 years, doing a different range of jobs within the care setting including the NHS and Local Authority. More recently I was a Deputy Manager at a previous care home. Jane first joined us as Head of Care but has now taken on the role of Deputy Manager. Jane has an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, an NVQ Level 5 in Management and Leadership, and a Level 2 Diploma in Dementia Care.

Tracy has worked at Gedling Village since 2021 as the Activities Co-Ordinator. She is a member of the Nottinghamshire Dementia Outreach Activity Co-ordinator’s Forum and has turned the home around where activities are concerned.
