Gedling Village Care Home is a purpose built 3-story building, with en-suite bedrooms and double bedrooms available for couples. The home is split into three communities; Orchid Suite, Forget Me Not Suite and Lavender Suite, all of which have lounge and dining facilities.

Residents moving into Gedling Village Care Home are encouraged to personalise their own bedrooms, bringing in possessions, photos, pieces of furniture, etc., to create a homely atmosphere.

Nutrition and fluids are offered to all residents daily, with a choice of three meal options and various snacks and light bite options during the day and evening, from a fully stocked drinks and snacks trolley that is taken around the home during the day and evening by staff. Residents and visitors can request food/snacks and drink at any time of the day or night.

The home has a variety of Activities throughout the day, and celebrates notable events in the calendar, encouraging friends and family to take part. From Valentine's dinners and Easter Fairs to Elf Day and visits from Santa, there is always something to look forward to. There is also a stay and play group for little ones for therapy for residents with Dementia.

The last 8 days of my mother's life at Gedling Village Court care home was excellent, the staff could not have been better. My mother was a resident for three years during which time the ownership changed, And Pearlcare bought the home. A few months ago the management decided to change the daily routine,
I was informed and liked the proposed changes but it was not implemented in a good manner causing staff resignations and a very strained atmosphere and in my opinion poor care. This is now recovering and hopefully will prove a success for residents.

The staff are a great asset to this home. They treat the residents with respect and dignity. The staff are always busy and rushed off their feet. The home is well cared for and nicely decorated.

The staff are very supportive and approachable and when my wife had to be admitted to hospital for an infection, kept in touch and both took and collected her from the hospital. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. My wife was transferred from another care home and has settled in very well. There
is a calmness in the care home which is re-assuring to both residents and staff.

In December 2016 and after excellent support and advice from the senior staff at Gedling Care Home, my mother was admitted to the home. In providing further evidence to the local authority it was agreed that my mother needed long-term care and Gedling was the most appropriate place. I have visited the
home on numerous occasions and have seen the staff treat my mother with dignity, care and support.


Throughout the staff have been attentive and provided information of a practical nature to all of us who have visited my mother. Today my mother is nearing the end of her life and all I can say is that she could not have been in better hands at the end.
The manager has bent over backwards to ensure the family has been welcomed and supported. My sincerest thanks to an excellent team.

The supervisory team were very supportive in managing mums entry requirements as specified by the funder.
They adjusted to her changing needs, keeping us advised at all times.
Special requests were attended to willingly and in a timely way.
All visitors were made welcome at all times.
All the team
were smiling, friendly and positive and always professional.
During mums last 3 days she received 1/2 hourly checks 24/7 which was a great comfort to all the family.
Additionally, senior staff stayed way beyond their usual hours to ensure her care and support the family.
The visiting GP was especially professional and diligent.
Very may thanks to all the team.

My father has been a resident at Gedling Village Care Home since May 2013. The care he has received has been faultless. He died at the care home on 23/12/16 and again the care and compassion shown to him and myself was exceptional. As a nurse myself, I could see that the carers were genuinely going
above and beyond their duties to ensure my father kept his dignity and was looked after. The home is always clean, tidy and the other residents always look happy and cared for. The staff make the place feel like 'home'.

With senior staff, my wife and I reviewed the condition of my mother in law. The staff explained the measures taken to ensure palliative care, especially since her recent discharge from hospital. We fully concurred with what is being and has been done during my mother in law's stay and we all agreed
a DNR policy was best for her, given her condition and circumstances. We are extremely happy with all that is done for her and we are reassured that her comfort in the home is paramount.

Our Aunt lived at Gedling Village Care Home after losing her husband. Apart from ill health, she was also grieving badly. We were her only family and live in Cardiff but we never had any issue with the care she received, we had regular updates and the staff were so kind to us when we visited. Our Aunt
was extremely happy at Gedling and spoke of it as home. After a hospital stay, we were concerned they may not have taken her back but the staff insisted that they would continue to care for her at Gedling despite knowing she was very ill. Sadly our Aunt passed away recently and the team at Gedling went above and beyond to make her last days as peaceful and painless as possible. We always felt she was safe in their hands and this gave us peace of mind throughout . I would recommend Gedling Village to anyone and can only hope we will find as good a Care Home in our own area if ever needed.

My gran went into the care home for two-week respite care, and within four days had decided she wanted to stay permanently. She is still enjoying her time there and loves talking to all the other residents and I believe nan realises that care homes are not where the elderly are left abandoned. The
staff seem lovely and always polite and helpful, it has been lovely to see her settle in so well and thrive with new people as she had become quite isolated.

Following the hospitalisation of his carer my brother who suffers with Alzheimer's needed urgent respite accommodation and this was provided within two days of contacting Gedling Village. He has settled in very well and is looked after by friendly, caring staff.

My father had lived alone until he was 85, but the staff at Gedling Village made him feel very welcome. He went in for a short stay and didn't want to go home. The rooms were large and modern, with a full service wet room, a nice and pleasant day room, with games and activities suitable for the residents.
To my amazement my dad joined in. As my father came to the end their conduct was brilliant, one member of staff going with dad to hospital and staying with him until a member of the family could attend.

My mother is in Gedling Village Care Home and has dementia. She is very well cared for and is happy to be a resident there. She says the food is good and has a very nice room which is always cleaned well. We are happy with the care my mother gets and also happy with the staff and management.

Michelle Garland

Job Title: Registered Manager

My name is Michelle Garland and I have worked in care for 23 years. I have worked with Pearlcare at Gedling Village Care Home for the last 8 years. I started as an administrator, and I completed my NVQ level 2 in business management. I was promoted to deputy manager in September 2021 and became the manager in May 2022.


Throughout my 23 years of experience in care, I have worked within nursing, residential, dementia and worked on EMI units. I have gained a lot of knowledge and experience with all the different areas I have worked in. Since working with Pearlcare they have helped and supported me to gain further progression in my career as a manager. I am currently working towards my NVQ level 5 in residential management.


My main focus at Gedling Village Care Home is to ensure the safety of my residents and most importantly make sure they are happy and feel at home. As a manager I am passionate about my residents being supported and for them to be able to make their own choices and decisions, whichever it may be. Gedling Village thrives with their open-door policy and having an honest home. Gedling Village takes pride in their décor, activities and decision-making of the home to include all relatives, residents, staff, and family members to be included.


Gedling Village has achieved so many goals in the last 12 months. Gedling Village has altered the decoration within the care home and completed a massive garden renovation this year. We have decorated many bedrooms and changed the floorings, not only in bedrooms but corridors also. A lot of this was achieved from our Covid-19 infection control grant. We also managed to get x3 electric sluice machines and a medication room on each floor. Gedling Village have received 2 contract and monitoring inspection reports which have been very good, and we have also had a very good infection control inspection.


Gedling Village have put on plenty of events which include Halloween, Bonfire, Christmas, and our coronation party we had the local mayor and mayoress of our local area. Our residents also enjoy the regular entertainers, pantomimes, Zumba and our wonderful animal therapy.


We receive many comments from friends, family and relatives stating how enjoyable and how much entertainment we provide for our residents.

Jane Richmond

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Jane has been in Health & Social Care for the past 30 years, doing a different range of jobs within the care setting including the NHS and Local Authority. More recently I was a Deputy Manager at a previous care home. Jane first joined us as Head of Care but has now taken on the role of Deputy Manager. Jane has an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, an NVQ Level 5 in Management and Leadership, and a Level 2 Diploma in Dementia Care.

Adesile has been in the Health & Social Care sector for the past 10 years working with Elderly and Young adults.


Whilst in these settings Adesile has completed his Level 2 in Learning Disabilities and Autistic Spectrum, Level 3 in Health and Social Care, Level 2 in Maths and English and he also has a Diploma in Leadership and Management. Adesile joined Gedling Village in April 2023 as a Senior Carer and wanted more out of the job role so has taken on Head of Care for more of a challenge.

Kelly came to Gedling Village to work at the beginning of 2023 as the Administrator. She has worked in care for the past 23 years and has her NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care. Kelly changed career in the past couple of years and became an administrator having a Diploma in Level 2 & 3 in Customer Service and a Reception Diploma.

Tracy Maddock

Job Title: Activity Co-Ordinator

Joined: 2021

Tracy has worked at Gedling Village since 2021 as the Activities Co-Ordinator. She is a member of the Nottinghamshire Dementia Outreach Activity Co-ordinator’s Forum and has turned the home around where activities are concerned. Tracy puts in place a weekly diary of activities and also creates all our special events for all to join in.
