  • Built on the site of the former Greenalls Brewery, Belong Warrington is close to the town and a short walk into the lovely village of Stockton Heath. They are easily accessible from the M6 and M56 motorways. In honour of their origins, each household in Belong is named after a local brewery and more about the town’s working heritage can be found at the local Warrington Museum and Art Gallery.

I was in Belong Warrington after a hip replacement. The armchair was too low so a handyman put risers on. He was not happy with them and told me to be careful. I am not fat, very light, so I sat on the chair to have my dinner. Three risers collapsed and I was flung sidewards. Luckily I didn't break
my other hip. I asked for the chair to be removed and it took 3 days for a carer to drag it out. Then I put my desk chair in place, much softer. The support manager or manager did not have the decency to apologise and the support manager promised to order my newspaper. It was not done, she forgot so a complete airhead. The food was terrible, cheap, nasty, high-fat food. Cream cakes, doughnuts etc. Fruit once and the jelly was so thick. Lots of pork, potatoes not cooked. The frittata had thick pastry with little egg on it. The young staff were wonderful, very caring and overworked. They were the highlight of my stay.

Everyone looks after the residents and cares for them very well. I also appreciate all the hard work during the lockdown and the things that have been put in place to allow us to see our loved ones at this time still uncertain time.

Having looked at a number of homes in the area last year, when Mum needed full-time care after a long hospital stay, we were delighted when she was offered a place. From the outset, we were impressed with the way we and Mum were treated. Although Mum's stay was relatively short, she was well looked
after and she enjoyed her time as is evident from all the photos we received over the gateway. We were impressed in the last few weeks, during the lockdown, by the standard of love and care she received from all the staff.

My husband was admitted to Tetley Household in Belong Warrington and received excellent care throughout his stay. He was treated with respect, humour and in the month indicated, with gentle compassion. He could be difficult at times but was always treated with respect to preserve his dignity. He was
part of a family, not just a resident. As a constant visitor over many months, I too was treated by all staff with friendliness and kindness throughout the building. Well done everyone.

As we begin to think of end of life care, I want my father to be nursed here at Belong.
On a busy NHS hospital ward, staff would not be able to match the caring, personal environment, the Belong staff consistently offer.

I am writing this review because I am so impressed by the way in which Belong Warrington have cared for my mother over the last days of her life. Building on the excellent care they had previously given to mum they showed compassion, care and a high level of skill. Nothing was too much trouble both
in the care shown to mum and the attitude shown to us as visitors and close family. As someone who has worked in education all his life I fully appreciate when people are prepared to go that extra mile and the staff of Belong were. Than you all so much on behalf of my mother and my family.

I cannot praise the staff at Belong Warrington highly enough for the care of my Mum. She was not always the easiest person to look after and had a sharp tongue on occasions, but she was dealt with kindness and respect at all times. The members of staff could not do more to help the whole family and
have been supportive during the difficult time of her passing away.
The small set up of households worked well for my Mum for the 3 years she stayed there. She was happy, comfortable, well fed and well looked after during this time.

Remarkably easy to settle in. Staff quickly became friends. An amazing sense of community and safety. I certainly must credit Belong Warrington for a good deal of my recovery.


I had a number of things to cope with (not least shaky handwriting) but can see a credible improvement (but not in handwriting)!

Staff are helpful and friendly towards relations visiting my mother.
My mother is an early riser and can find waiting to be dressed and the late delivery of her newspaper tiresome - especially when the paper can be seen at reception. However, she tells me the staff are kind and caring and that she
feels safe there.
Depending on who is cooking, meals can sometimes be of varying standards.
Also, staff shortages can impact on this.

Our father could no longer manage on his own after our mother passed away. This is the best we could have done for him. It has a homely atmosphere, we are welcome at all times and especially like the kitchens on each household, meals being freshly prepared. Our father sleeps a lot and the staff can
always make him something hot to eat when he wakes up.

Mother was taken into Tetley Wing following personal distress and loss of dignity. Through outstanding personal care on an individual basis, she has an excellent quality of life, is eating to a good standard with much raised quality of personal care. As such, her self-esteem and her self-confidence
have risen incredibly well with consistency. I have already recommended Belong to two colleagues.

My husband has late stage Alzheimer's disease/dementia. I very much appreciate the person-centred approach to care and the way care is adjusted as my husband's condition has worsened. He has diagnosed 7-8 years ago and moved into Belong Warrington on a year ago. For a person with dementia this relaxed
approach to time for getting up, personal care, bed times has really helped even at meal times, If he is having a difficult day and misses the regular times they give him his meal specially prepared if necessary. When he is ready. He settled in very well and is mostly relaxed and not agitated and that to me is very important.

First rate modern facilities in super spacious and ultra clean environment. Each unit is designed for no more than 12 residents with a dedicated kitchen, lounge and reliable care teams could not be more friendly, nothing is too much trouble and the daily "regime" is both relaxed and flexible. They even
baked a cake for Dad's birthday. The home is very well run by a highly focused and professional management team with support staff who are all equally friendly and welcoming (kitchens, cleaners, reception staff ). My father is very happy to be a resident, and to call Belong Warrington his "home"!

Mum has been attending the "Belong (Warrington) Experience Days" on a weekly basis for the last few months. From the first time I dropped her off, I have experienced a professionalism and warmth of welcome that is First Class. When placing mum in the care of others is it vital to know she is going to
be looked after - the staff at "Belong Warrington" provide that reassurance because they clearly have a genuine concern and care for those they are looking after. Add to the skilled and friendly staff the outstanding, modern facilities and you have an excellent provision for the care of family members. Mum enjoys her time at "Belong" and frequently comments on the way in which she is taken care of by "lovely staff" and how she enjoys the activities she undertakes. I have complete confidence that mum's needs are being met and that she is cared for by outstanding staff who enjoy their work. I recommend "Belong Warrington" to others looking for the very best care for their relative.

My husband attends the experience days 2 afternoons a week and I could not have chosen a better place for him. My initial impressions were excellent, from entering the building and speaking to the receptionist, to discussing my husbands needs with the experience coordinator, during which I was provided
with a couple of forms to complete.
Initially, my thoughts were, what a lot of information is needed, but then I realised that this showed how thorough Belong are with their approach to each patients needs. Belong is unlike any other care facility I had been in previously and especially the public areas.
Everyone who I spoke to was extremely friendly and immediately made me feel special, so I felt sure that my husband would feel the same way too. My husband has now been visiting Belong for approximately 6 months and the care and attention he receives, in my opinion is excellent and I especially appreciate the update of what he has been doing during his afternoons attendance.

We were so relieved when we found Belong. Having to find care for my mother coming out of hospital after she had broken her hip and the doctors said she couldn't return to her flat. My husband and I were set the task of finding suitable accommodation. We were beginning to despair and had a place reserved
in a standard type home when we found Belong.
There was such a relief when we saw the standard of care the cleanliness and the household arrangement. I know my brother and sister are still grateful to us for finding such a high standard of care for my Mum because they also felt that sigh of relief that this standard of care was what she deserved.

Barry

Barry Devine

Job Title: General Manager

Barry Devine is an experienced care professional, with experience both provider side and as an inspector of adult social care with the Care Quality Commission. He is passionate about ensuring the quality of life, positive outcomes, effective teamwork and continuous improvement through person-centred practice.


His experience includes roles supporting autistic people and people with a learning disability to live independent and fulfilled lives, including building and training teams of support workers to provide high-quality support for people living in their own homes.


Before this, as an inspector for the health and social care regulator, Barry was responsible for assessing providers’ compliance with standards, as well as using his background and CQC operational experience to inform policymaking and help design and deliver training for inspection managers on its implementation.

Job Title: Support Manager

Olivia was previously a Lead Senior Support Worker at Belong Atherton and has worked at the Warrington village supporting the management team with all aspects of governance within the village, before being appointed to the role of Assistant Support Manager in early 2023.

Job Title: Front of House Manager

Joined: 2011

Andrea has worked in the care industry for eight years, having started her career as a domiciliary care worker in 2009, before joining the Belong Atherton team as a support worker, when it opened in 2011.


Andrea has extensive experience in administration and customer service and was promoted to Acting Front of House Manager for 9 months at Atherton before progressing to Front of House Manager at Belong Warrington in 2017.

Louise Mcmullen

Job Title: Village Nurse Manager

Louise was appointed to the nursing team at Belong Warrington in 2023, after a four-year track record as Village Nurse Manager at the CQC Outstanding rated village, Belong Atherton. With over a decade’s experience in nursing, she is a qualified mentor of student nurses and is an instrumental member of the village’s leadership team.


Louise's nursing career began at the age of 22 at the Royal Navy as part of the Queen Alexandra’s Royal Naval Nursing Service. She completed her nurse training at the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for 3 years, and once qualified, she was promoted to Leading Naval Nurse and was posted to Fort Blockhouse in Portsmouth, where she worked at Queen Alexandra Hospital.


In 2008, Louise was deployed on an operational tour to Afghanistan, working at the multinational, UK-LED Role 3 hospital in Camp Bastion, Helmand Province, caring for injured soldiers, opposition forces as well as the local Afghanistan villages and children. This hospital outperformed all UK major trauma centers with a survival rate of 98%!


Louise then spent six months in Afghanistan and worked on the RFA Argus, the primary casualty receiving ship which has a 100-bed medical complex onboard.
