Puddingstone Grange care home is registered to offer residential care for male and female service users, who are elderly and frail, have a dementia related condition and nursing care needs.

A mental health unit was been opened within the home in August 2015 to provide care and support for those living with mental health conditions.

A community district nurse service is available for the residential units.

Community psychiatric support is provided when necessary, through a resident's general practitioner services.

The mental health unit receives support from Oxleas Health Service, 24 hours a day in addition to regular reviews of those residents from the community psychiatric team.

At the heart of Avante Care and Support's work is a philosophy of care where staff encourage social interaction, engagement and the eradication of loneliness and boredom.

Puddingstone Grange ensures its care and support helps to develop interests and hobbies within the care home and provide many opportunities to meet and make new friends.

The design promotes the use of the external space and this will be achieved by having safe, level access to the garden area at the rear, which has a meandering pathway, raised planters, seating areas and water feature.

This home is wonderful, it is well managed and blessed with a great team of caring professionals. My Mother loves it here, as a family we are assured that she is safe and well cared for. Mum has been here for three years and it is her home.

I would highly recommend this home - very caring staff.
Not sure if it's value for money as it's authority-funded.
The room is slightly shabby and needs a repaint and shouldn't be used as a storage facility i.e. someone else's wheelchair, walking frame and pads etc.

Visited on Christmas morning. Mother was fast asleep and refusing to wake despite our presence. The staff on duty were very kind and caring trying to coax her awake and prepare her for our visit. Such care and attention was good to see and allowed us time to spend festive time with Mother.

The staff at Puddingstone Grange never cease to amaze me - they well and truly go above and beyond, going to so much effort to ensure that all their residents are well looked after at all times. Take today for example. It was Mum's 80th birthday. The staff had put up balloons and banners, given her
birthday cards and presents, and arranged a party for her with lots of party food and cakes. They always make a huge effort to celebrate resident's birthdays, and today was no exception. We are so lucky to have found this gem of a care home for Mum - it's so hard when you have to make the decision to move a loved one into care, but knowing they are treated like family by all the staff makes it so much easier.

Really nice Care Home. Staff are really helpful and friendly. Most of all, extremely kind and considerate to my sister and her fellow residents. Have shared several meals with them and they are very tasty. Really kind, helpful and approachable manager, as are the rest of the staff.

This is such a wonderful care home, the staff always go above and beyond and really genuinely care about the residents.
My Aunt has been very happy here, there are always activities to do and special events going on.

My brother resided in this home for only 3 weeks. Within that time, he got a pressure sore. When he was admitted into the hospital, the pressure sore was un-gradable. He remained in hospital for 4 months on intravenous antibiotics. He still has the pressure, which is stage 4, still very serious. His
care needs increased and is now in a lovely nursing home.
There was an investigation, but apparently, it was down to the district nurses. I believe the care home was responsible as they were the prime carers. Surely, when they did my brother's personal care, then they would have noticed how bad the pressure sore actually was. That is if he received personal care as he often looked unkempt as did a few of the residents.
If you are looking for a care home for your loved one, please avoid this home. There is no care here, only negligence. I wished I had taken more notice of previous reviews and avoided putting my poor brother here.

We appreciate your feedback. However, we must respectfully disagree with certain comments regarding the level of care provided to the resident and the events in question. Puddingstone Grange noted a pre-existing pressure sore when the resident was admitted to the home. A referral and photograph were sent without delay to the District Nurse Team who then attended daily to dress the wound from the 28/11/23 to 15/12/23. We note that no previous complaints had been raised by relatives in relation to our resident whilst he was in our care. Puddingstone Grange currently has a rating of 9.8/10. There have been 5 reviews on Carehome.co.uk to date in 2024, all of which have been rated 5 *. We pride ourselves in delivering consistently high standards and are disappointed that the facts have been misrepresented in the above review.

This is a home that cares for residents with dementia. It has a dementia nursing unit. My mother has been a resident for 3 years. My experience is totally positive. The home has a very good management team who respond positively and actively to any issues or suggestions. Staff are keen to engage with
relatives, I am always included and kept informed by phone of any changes with Mum or her care. Despite her late stage dementia Mum is content here. Her needs are well met with kindness and good humour. I am so pleased I chose Puddingstone Grange for Mum. Thank you to all the staff. You are doing a great job. Keep it up.

My friend was always treated with kindness and dignity. Staff encouraged and assisted her to eat and drink right to the end. Myself and my mother the resident's sister always commented when we visited Puddingstone Grange how nice and attentive the staff were and how clean the care home is all the time. My auntie who has now sadly passed away was at this care home for 19 months and was cared for very well. I would recommend

As a regular visitor weekly for the past 5/6 years Christmas at Puddingstone Grange is fantastic. The staff go out of their way to make this time of year a wonderful celebration for everyone. The staff work so hard and include many of the residents to help out. Beautiful and inclusive. Long dining tables
with crackers etc. Christmas trees and decorations everywhere. Also, the local church singers come each year. The weeks of Christmas are superb at Puddingstone Grange.

Mum moved into Puddingstone in April, and we were thrilled to be able to get in her there. Mum was in a fragile state mentally, and the manager went above and beyond to get Mum in there at short notice. We were beyond grateful to her.
From the moment Mum arrived, her mental health improved immediately,
she is settled, happy and most importantly happy. Every single member of staff we have met are kind, energetic and caring.
We really couldn’t ask for anymore, and Mum had said she never feels lonely and it’s like home from home! The best comment you could ask for!
The home is clean and relatives are made to feel welcome and kept in the picture with everything regarding their loved ones.
I am happy leaving Mum after a visit knowing she is safe, happy and being cared for!
Thanks again to the manager and her staff for doing a great job.

Staff are friendly, care seems to be good but would love it if a way could be found to shower or properly bath my partner.
Home is clean and rooms are large and bright.
